Dear Keith, Thank you for taking the time to contact us about the difficulties you have had trying to reach the Audiology Department; we appreciate your feedback and are very sorry for the inconvenience and upset this experience caused you. The Trust strives to be accessible to all patients and members of the public who need us and whilst it is not clear if you were kept waiting by Switchboard or the Audiology Department directly, you nevertheless should not have incurred such difficulties or delays for which we apologise. I have checked and can confirm that full details about the Audiology Department is available on the Trust website; from the main page, you click on "Services A-Z" within the "Services" section and Audiology are the fourth entry under "A". Click on the link for Audiology and you are taken to a more detailed page where at the bottom there is a further link, which takes you to a page with contact details for the department including a direct telephone number and email address. These contact details are 0300 131 5679 or esht.audiology@nhs.net if you still need to contact Audiology. I hope this is helpful. Take care Keith, and keep well and safe.

  2. Review titled Conquest hospital A&E

by HappyHighlander - Posted on 05 December 2022

I felt afraid because a patient with mental health crisis was not looked after quickly enough. They waited for about 4 hours (like me) in A&E reception, and then went and was destructive outside. The police came later. A nurse I asked if it was ok now said they have run away because they know they have been naughty. I'd say they were a vulnerable person who no one appeared to give a stuff about. Their care worker nattered on their mobile phone about their clients mental health in earshot of me and others in the waiting area, the care worker ignored their client, didn't sit with them or interact with them. The medical staff were nowhere to be seen - no one focussed on this patient. I believe the person was bored: I could see this from my work with asn kids, I could see where this was going, but medical triage did not prioritise them, and in the end they could not cope with waiting in an inappropriate, uncomfortable area for someone in mental health crisis. This ended up with me feeling unsafe, and a lot of damage outside.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your thoughts about your observations and experience within the Emergency Department (ED) at Conquest Hospital. The Trust works hard to provide a high standard of care to all patients and we are sorry to learn that you did not feel this was the case, in particular towards the other patient who you outline was vulnerable and required a more compassionate approach. The Trust is always keen to learn where our services could be improved and we shall feed back your comments to the Head of Nursing for the ED. We were also sorry to hear that this situation caused you to feel unsafe within the ED, as this is not how we would wish any patient to feel.

  3. Review titled Excellent Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 26 November 2022

Every single staff member of Gardner Ward and also the staff in the operating Theater were fantastic. They are all so polite, friendly and very professional throughout. They made me feel at total ease during my stay and nothing was too much trouble. I can't praise them enough and they are a credit to the hospital and the NHS. Please make sure you pass this message onto the staff as they fully deserve to be praised. Thank you

  4. Review titled Excellent practice from all staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Although the wait time was long, i witnessed all staff at conquest hospital emergency department's, to be thorough, friendly, helpful, caring, compassionate (especially with challenging behaviour) knowledgeable and, despite their difficult schedule, upbeat with a good sense of humour. Absolutely excellent attention received. Thank you. You deserve so much more than you get.

  5. Review titled Lovely staff :)

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Catherine - Posted on 04 November 2022

We attended a and e with our teenage son early hours of this morning - from the lovely receptionist who was so nice & understanding on arrival, to the amazing guy Taking bloods and his lovely nurse colleague who exercised genuine care, compassion and patience with my son whilst he was having a meltdown , even asking how I was doing. I have to say despite the circumstances, I could not fault the care, the lovely staff and the time they took to make us feel understood. Real superstars of our NHS - thank you so much, you are greatly valued & appreciated:)

I had a CT scan and the treatment I had from all the nursing staff and the Dr was sensitive, informative, professional, kind and patient, even with this old woman with a walking stick! They should be appreciated and valued. In this case I cannot praise the department enough.

  7. Review titled Disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 October 2022

Was assigned to a consultant who called his patients “ungrateful” and told them they were using up beds unnecessarily when clearly these people were suffering and in extreme amounts of pain. I went in for abdominal surgery, and I would never go here again. The surgeons were absolutely lovely, but the aftercare from the consultant was appalling. Not told what happened in my surgery, and was sent home in agony with no support and an appointment for three months time. Absolutely disgusting treatment. Please don't go here if you have any other choice, it would save you alot of time and pain.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback about your recent experience of care at Conquest Hospital; we do appreciate it as it is important that we listen to and learn from patient experience wherever we can. The Trust works very hard to provide all patients with a high standard of care, and therefore we are both disappointed and very concerned to read this was not always your recent experience. Whilst it is assuring to read you were pleased with the surgeons, we are unhappy to read your aftercare from the Consultant was unsatisfactory and offer our apologies for this. We are very keen to learn more about your experience and if you feel able to provide more details, then please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0300 131 5309 so that we have an opportunity to learn from this incident. We hope you are making, or have now made, a good recovery from your abdominal surgery and send you our best wishes. Take care, keep well and stay safe.

  8. Review titled Terrible nurse .

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 October 2022

I work with aggressive , mentally unwell patients . I took a patient to have bloods taken at 1555 hours . The nurse was very rude from arrival to me (bearing in mind i was dressed in my hospital scrubs) until the end . She asked 'did you need to be there '? i explained why i did and then said 'well come in then , you cant stand there ' and i awkwardly stood as i didn't know where to go or stand . So i walked and went to sit down and she said' well you cant sit there - that's my seat - just go over there and stand behind there ' in an impolite , rude , patronizing way . So annoyed and close to saying something , i stood and waited . She then spoke to the potentially aggressive patient very rudely and with no patience what so ever and shut down everything he said and when he would talk , she would shut him down . She would tell him 'Sit still , stop moving , turn your hand over ,move your head' . All the while agitating the patient more and more - talking to him with no manors or patience and also obviously whispering to the other person . The whole experience was awkward and unpleasant
