Review titled Fish bone in throat ignored
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Tracy - Posted on 10 September 2023
Sent to A &E by 111 after getting a fish bone stuck in throat. The Dr did not look into my throat but sent me to have an x-ray. He said they couldn’t see anything and decided I had scratched my throat. I insisted I could feel the bone sticking in at the very back. I was ignored and not once did he even ask to look at my throat. He just told me to go to St George’s if I started struggling to breathe and sent me home. My daughter met me at the hospital and once home she looked into my throat and could see where it was and after a few attempts she managed to remove it with tweezers. I am appalled I was not even examined. He would have seen the bone if he had looked. This is just poor care.

Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sandra - Posted on 29 August 2023
I arrived at A&E after a consultation with an NHS 111 doctor. The care I received from Croydon A&E department was exemplary. After I booked myself in I was seen and treated within minutes. All of the healthcare staff were very thorough and I felt safe under their care. Once my symptoms were eased and the relevant tests were done, the doctor took his time to explain what was wrong and what medicines I needed and why. Luckily I was able to return home and was assured they were there should I need them further. Well done Croydon University Hospital A&E department, you are fantastic.

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Mrs Dunmore - Posted on 28 August 2023
I was very nervous of having this procedure which, I was having for the first time but, from start to finish I was reassured that I would be well cared for. The staff were very friendly, in particularly the receptionist in the waiting area. I was treated with respect and everything was explained to me as it was happening. I felt compelled to write this review as so often patients are quick to complain rather than praise the NHS for all the good work they do even in terrible circumstances. Thank you very much for looking after me. .

by Paula - Posted on 24 August 2023
After being quite nervous about my upcoming procedure, I really can't thank the team enough. From the helpful and informative reception staff, the friendly and caring nurses and an empathetic consultant. The whole department made me feel at ease from start to finish and the patient care you showed was next level. Thank you

Review titled I felt confident in their hands
by Rev Paul - Posted on 24 August 2023
I was very pleased with the way I was treated at CUH in Coulsdon Ward where I attended for a prostate biopsy. The staff were caring and friendly, and explained everything very clearly. The urology team were very professional and helped to make an unpleasant procedure more bearable. I felt confident in their hands. The only negative thing was the amount of waiting time between signing in and the procedure starting.

Review titled Dermatology urgent pathway- does anyone answer the phone??
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Zoe Leroy - Posted on 19 October 2023
I am under the dermatology department on the urgent pathway (2ww). At first my experience was very good, seen quickly and got my first excision appointment a couple of weeks later. Doctor is excellent. However, I have 4 areas that need excising and was told that two could be done at each visit. Unfortunately despite a note on my record I was only booked for a single slot so could only have one area done. I was told that I would be contacted about the next date but now 6 weeks later and 15 phone calls all of which were not picked up and one email which still hasn’t been answered after 2 weeks. I’m yet to find out a date. Do you have anyone manning your phones??

Review titled Please pass on my thanks
by hawkjw37 - Posted on 04 September 2023
I tripped over and landed on my nose and started to bleed fairly badly. I pinched my nose until the ambulance arrived. I was seen by the paramedics who checked my medical record thoroughly. They kept me talking the whole time. I was taken to the emergency department at Croydon University Hospital by the London Ambulance Service. I was has seen very quickly and had 2 sets of XRays taken. My finger was popped back in the place. Please pass on my thanks to the staff at the new Addington ambulance station, and both the emergency department and urgent care centre at Croydon University Hospital.

Review titled Early pregnancy unit - Terrible receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 August 2023
Appointment at 10:40 waiter for 1hr 30mins with no feedback after multiple times asking for our turn. Then the receptionist told us the doctor will arrive in 20 mins, 45 mins later i had to ask again however now she doesn’t know the wait time. Don't mind the wait if we get a semi accurate time or continuous feedback that we have no been forgotten with a smile. Lazy receptionist with no patient support unfortunately.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Today I was asked to go for a blood test and when I arrived there were no appointments available. The team were overwhelmed with requests but were polite and helpful to everyone, despite the intense pressure they were under. Thank you.
