Review titled Dangerous and lack of care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Alex - Posted on 10 February 2024
Sent my baby home twice with a ‘viral infection’. Did no further testing just dismissed my concerns with a load of stupid excuses. Took her to Newcastle RVI because I did not trust either of the consultants in Darlington who saw her and lo and behold after an hour and actually testing done on her she had a water infection and needed antibiotics. Newcastle already told me she had symptoms of a UTI. First consultant in Darlington said it was because of her reflux. The second consultant said it’s because she had a viral cold. If you don’t care enough to investigated a 6 month old babies symptoms you shouldn’t be a doctor.

Review titled Could not have done more or cared more.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gary Saunders - Posted on 04 January 2024
My mum was admitted on the 03/01/2024. After being sent straight Darlington Memorial from her Doctors with severe a chest infection and her having COPD. There was not a seat left and there was a prisoner and prison guards in there as well. All staff in all areas worked non stop. Giving fantastic care as much attention on all of us and going above and beyond even though they were completely over run and I would have folded after ten minutes but they just carried on while keeping a smile on our faces and also giving amazing care and assessments. After assessing my mum they gave her a artery blood test and within 8 minutes my mum was in a private room. With an i.v of antibiotics, fluids, oxygen, steroids. I was worried at how quick this all happened but they could not have got my mum receiving the urgent treatment she needed. My mum had to stay in room 3 at accident and emergency and received such care through the night. All the staff that evening were miracle workers and will never ever be able to thank you enough. From 3 o'clock that day to now with my mum on ward 34 as I write this and still getting the warmest care and medical treatment. From start to finish i’d like all staff to know they are genuine heroes and hope this gets back to all staff working that day and up until now and they know how much they appreciated and no one could have managed the situation in the hospital and a and e over whelmed but people coming in in a constant flow. But they never faltered and us remembering just what they have to deal but how much care, treatment and grace they still give in impossible circumstances. Too many people complain but my mum would be in a different situation without you all today. Nothing can thank you all enough. Hope your bosses thank you enough too.

Review titled Amazing First Surgical Experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Georgia - Posted on 20 January 2024
I have so many thank yous to give to each and every member of staff that I encountered for my surgery under ENT at Darlington. My consultant, the anaesthetist and her nurses, and the nurses on the Day Ward. I could not sing their praises any more and I truly believe that every single one of them are a testament to their professions. So thorough, reassuring, caring, and kind. I am in awe of the care I received and only hope that I will receive care like this in the future. Thank you again to each and every member of staff who took care of me. I will remember your care for years to come.

On New Year eve I was admitted with a serious Urine infection and after initial treatment at A & E I was admitted to Ward 34 and then Ward 43. The staff both Nursing and ancillary were fabulous and truly caring and attentive and nothing being to much trouble.

Review titled Really lovely staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by ROSALIND JOHNSON - Posted on 06 November 2023
I needed to attend for a colonoscopy following an area of concern on my last CT scan. I was absolutely dreading the procedure but it was made more bearable by the wonderful staff in the Endoscopy Suite. Without exception, they all treated me with care and kindness which was very much appreciated and not something I have always experienced during my cancer treatment across 5 hospitals in the North East. Thank you all so much.

After all the positive and good things I’ve heard about McMillan nurses , we never received any care and support. My husband had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. When leaving the hospital the McMllian nurse said she was going to call and check how we were one weeks time, still waiting her her call 2 months later At no time did we receive any help from the ENT nurses, maybe we not important anymore as he was terminal.
