I had some breast surgery on the 19th of August. I spent the day on ward b1. I was looked after and cared for by some wonderful nurses. They did an excellent job of making the stay easy. It was my very first time in hospital (and I am a woman of a certain age) I also had to go across to the pink rose suite for a procedure and that was easy too. I arrived at 7.30 am. I had my operation at 4pm. It was a long day. By the time I had the operation I was very hungry and thirsty. No sooner was I back on the ward, there was a tray of toast and jam, a cup of coffee and jug of water. Very much appreciated. The aftercare was excellent. They sent me home with a smile and lovely words. It made me feel cared for. They all do an sterling job and often go unappreciated. Well not by me. Once again thank you to all the staff and nurses. Date of stay 19th of August 2022.

Attended A&E after tripping and hurting my wrist the night before, was quickly booked in and directed to the fracture clinic where I was assessed, had my X-ray and reviewed and treated all within 1hour! Honestly couldn’t complain at all and everyone was lovely and very helpful!

Review titled Long wait in ambulance and on trolley in A&E

I was taken to Grimsby hospital via ambulance after feeling generally very ill. I had Covid but have a lot of other medical issues. We finally rang for the ambulance when I was vomiting blood. I will keep this as short as possible. I was kept in the ambulance for over 7 hours. After about 3 hours a nurse came out to see me and I had blood tests done in the ambulance. I was never offered food or a drink. I was eventually taken in and put in a side room in A&E on a trolley. Here I stayed for 20 hours. I didn’t have a pillow and had 1 blanket thrown on the bed. Again I was not offered drink or food in all this time. The 1 drink I did have was a cup of tea when I first got into A&E. It was actually made for me by a very kind doctor, who also was very apologetic about the wait I had had. The staff were extremely busy, but basic care surely should be offered in a hospital? This has made me very concerned for any future visits I should have.

Prior to my appointment, I had cause to “complain” due to total confusion over my appointment date and a complete inability to speak to anyone to sort this. However, I have absolutely no complaint about the care I received at my actual appointment on 3rd July, particularly from the Consultant and four nurses with whom I had direct contact (sorry, I don’t remember your names, was far too worried to take anything in). Your kindness and patience was very much appreciated. If anyone reading this review is due to attend for a Gastroscopy, please don’t worry, because whatever you are imagining will happen, is one hundred times worse than what actually happens 😊. Once again, thank you to all those who gave me such wonderful care.

After attending A&e yesterday and sdec, I can honestly say I have not come across more hardworking, supportive, amazing nurses in my time, the nurses even though very busy listened to me and acted, they reassured and were helpful. I'm glad I now live local to this hospital. Thank you so much to the nurses on Sdec for everything you did yesterday for me. My first b12 loading dose is tomorrow!
