  1. Review titled Professionalism at its best

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Would like to say a massive thank you to the uro oncology specialist nurses at Doncaster hospital. They are very efficient and have helped me every step of the way with my cancer treatment and care. Whenever I reach out to them for help they always get back to me quickly and have the time to listen to my queries. They act with great professionalism and kindness for which I and my wife are so very grateful. With their help and support I can feel relief that I am progressing through this whole process which, at times , can be very distressing. A massive thank you to the whole team .

I attended A&E on 25/2/2025 after I collapsed. Although it was a long time, because the unit was very busy After a blood pressure test, an ECG, and an X Ray. Two problems were diagnosed, one requiring anti-biotics. The second referred to my GP

  3. Review titled Outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I can not rate Ledger ward 8 DRI more highly for the oustanding care my husband received this last week whilst an in patient for spinal surgery. The care from every member of staff from cleaner to Consultant was superb. Everyone went out of the way to provide the support and specialist care needed. It was clearly evident that the Team were fully committed to providing the best possible care and expertise. It was great to see how the ward and surgical staff worked so well together. This experience has really highlighted and confirmed to me what a great hospital we have in Doncaster. It have restored our faith in the NHS. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Very friendly and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Haigh Harold - Posted on 08 January 2025

On 7 January at 2.30 am I awoke being unable to breathe properly. I found it extremely difficult to take in air. This was the third night in a row that I had experienced such a thing but this was the worst. I aroused my wife who called 999. I could hear her talking on the phone and before she finished the ambulance had arrived. It was merely minutes. I was examined by the ambulance crew with wires attached to my body and told I would have to go to hospital. They conveyed me to Doncaster Royal infirmary where there was a queue for A and E where we had to wait a while. They stayed with me in the ambulance and kept checking that I was not in distress. My breathing had improved slightly. The ambulance crew whose names I am not allowed to mention would like to thank them for their kindness, friendliness and professionalism. They stayed with me for the remaining waiting period when I was transferred to the A and E reception area. After that I was transferred to the A and E ward where I was seen over time by umpteen nurses, doctors and a doctor whose name I can’t pronounce anyway but I’m not allowed to give the names. Over a matter of hours I received X-ray, injections and care from numerous staff including being offered meals and other refreshments. However I was feeling really sorry for my self and had no appetite. At 4pm that date the doctor came and told me that I had fluid on my lungs and he had prescribed a course of tablets and I could go home. 24 hours later I’ve had the first full nights sleep I’ve had in many a night. My breathing has improved no end and I feel I am on the way to recovery. I would just like to thank all concerned in the A and E at Doncaster Royal Infirmary for hard work, dedication, friendliness and professionalism. I am 80 years of age and worked in the South Yorkshire Police for 30 yrs so I’ve seen my share of the worst of life. Keep up the good work girls and boys. Despite what the press keep saying you are doing a thankless task and doing it well. God bless you all.

  5. Review titled Overworked and under caring

Rated 1 star out of 5

Got admitted here last night after being refered from rorherham, I was supposed to be met by ent and admitted to the ward. On arrival at a and e I was taken for bloods. I then sat I the waiting room for 2 hours until i taken to another waiting room and hooked up to an iv drip, I was left there rhe whole time the drip was administered, someone from ent came and looked at my ear and confirmed mastoiditus. After this I was moved to another waiting room in emu, and told i would be taken to the ward as soon as a bed came free, this was around 1 am, at this point I asked for some pain relief and was told I would need to wait for the doctor to prescribe. Whilst in emu I told 2 members of staff the canula in my hand was making my hand and arm numb and tingly, and that since the iv drip my heat was racing, both times i was told a nurse would come see me, and reminded i was an ent patient, not an emu one. No nurse came. Asked again for pain relief at 5 am as I was in agony and was given 2 paracetamol, also enquired if a bed was available and was told they had no idea. 6 am, still sat in the waiting room a member of ent came and gave me ear drops and advised there may be a bed when rhe morning staff came on. Didn't see anyone again until 11 am when ent came and told me I actually don't have mastoiditus, I don't need a bed and would be going home with ear drops and a wick in my ear. Spent 11 hours sat in pain, exhausted in a waiting room, emu staff didn't care one little bit how much pain i was in. Wouldn't like to have to come back here again

  10. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by K Jackson - Posted on 16 October 2024

Visited Ophthalmology & Orthotics for my 7 year old son who's never been to any type of hospital appointment before so he was a little anxious. Drom the first lady we seen right until the last person, They were all brilliant with him, caring, very much on his level, spoke to my son in a way he understood and made sure he understood what was going to happen. As parents they were very informative, explained everything so clearly and we never felt we were rushed and any questions were answered. Just a brilliant team altogether. Thank you for great care 😊
