Prompt service without any sense of being hurried despite my walking problems. Friendly, helpful staff with pleasant manners who were able to chat and reassure me about my difficulties.

Exceptional level of care from all staff at all times. So lucky to have this hospital in my catchment area - cannot rate it highly enough. Copthorne ward following surgery was incredibly staffed by true professionals. A real credit.

Review titled Superb professional attention
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter D - Posted on 15 October 2024
Ambulanced to East Surrey with excruciating stomach pain, put on intravenous Morphine & Paracetamol with constant checking of vital signs. CT scan showed impacted bowel. Doctor gave precise treatment advice in the use of laxatives. The ambulance ladies were fantastic. Back home after 6 hours in hospital and on the mend next day. Full credit to everyone who keep their cool and just cope with everything thrown at them.

Review titled Excellent
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Went to A&E 2 weeks ago at 6pm with excruciating stomach pain, had to wait a couple of hours to be seen. Once in I was treated with care, compassion, and kindness, it was very busy so at times things felt slow but probably felt worse because I was in so much pain. I had a CT scan at midnight a tube in my nose to my bowel at 3am (which wasn't pleasant) but the male nurse was so good and emergency bowel surgery at 6 45 am, which if had been left 3 or 4 hours longer could have led to serious bowel damage, colostomy bag or even my death! Thank you everyone for saving my life. The surgeons did an amazing job keeping me here for my family and the nurses in recovery were very kind. Keyhole surgery meant I could go home the next day. Now recovering at home and once recovered will go back to having a normal life. Forever grateful, thank you all.

Review titled Staff make it better
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 September 2024
Admitted via the Holmwood unit which is a good one stop service for hearts. Hospital feels very dated and processes are as one would expect from a public service, especially under Starmer's rule. The discharge process couldn't be worse if they tried, takes 9 hours from being told you're going home to receiving the meds you need. Lots of waiting round generally during my stay, and wasted resources. The whole thing needs an overhaul with some proper business minded managers. The only saving grace is the staff were on the whole very very helpful and caring.

Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Came off my bike on the 9th August 2024. I was picked up by the Ambulance Service. Excellent. Went to A&E E. Surrey. MRI scanned found fracture of pubic bone plus fracture at the base of my right thumb. Spent five days at East Surrey with excellent service from all departments. The nurses, doctors & helpers couldn’t do enough for me. I am a fit 75 year old regular road cyclist. You hear political comments about the NHS being broken … well I can tell you from my experience it’s far from it. Thanks to all the staff that looked after me. I am now at home with the appropriate medicines recovering. The only downside is that it’s going to take 6-8 weeks to get back on the bike.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son was seen in paediatrics a&e, he is visually impaired and was very scared to have a foreign body removed from his ear. A lovely doctor with the initials c.p was brilliant with him and made him feel at such ease. Really lovely experience and my son even asked to give him a cuddle to say thankyou. Amazing team in paediatrics.

Review titled Overall Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 August 2024
One of my parents spent the last 4 weeks at Nesh. First A&E and then Hdu, followed by 2 weeks on Abinger ward. They have had many visits to the hospital both inpatient and out over the last 54 years. As a visitor, I have spent many hours at the hospital and this review is to say overall how impressed the whole family have been with both the care and the standard of the hospital. All the staff including Non-Clinical have been amazing and whilst at times the system could be a little confusing, we were so grateful for the incredible efforts the Dr's and Nurses made to stabilise his condition and make him comfortable. When it became obvious this was no longer viable, we asked if it was possible to get him home to spend his last few days with the family by his bedside. The process and effort made to achieve this made the world of difference to both the patient and the family and gave us great comfort in his last 4 days. We will be forever grateful. You often hear negative views around the NHS and I can only obviously speak for Nesh but I have always been impressed with the quality of the facilities and importantly the cleanliness everywhere. For me it's quite clear that a lot of money has been spent on achieving such a high standard and it's satisfying to see that the investment is clearly happening. Too many people to thank in person, so I thought this was the best forum to pass on my views. Thankyou all.

Review titled Amazing and kind care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Giulietta - Posted on 11 June 2024
I needed my pacemaker box changed. The professionalism was exemplary from the kind nurses taking bloods etc through to the kind surgeon who explained everything clearly and was very compassionate. Had my own room with bathroom and was very comfortable. Two hour observation after the procedure and then home! Couldn’t have been better. The cardiology department excellent in my experience.
