  1. Review titled Stressful experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jon - Posted on 05 November 2022

Staff excellent, even though they were obviously busy in A&E I was kept in overnight and that meant a few bed shuffles, however l could understand the necessity for that so as to free up beds. But, as other persons have said - it is unfathomable how one cannot use either ones phone, or ones tablet, because of deficiencies in the phone and wifi systems. I was left with a crying relative who thought something ghastly had happened because my phone cut off mid call, and went to emergency calls only. In the past l am sure you used to be able to log in as 'guest' and therefore communicate by email etc, but the system now wont let you in. If you went to the main corridor you also tended to get a phone signal . I am sure ward staff have better things to do than get you a phone so you can keep relatives updated. They were though, very understanding . I will just say l found the lack of communications very stressful.

  2. Review titled Staff are so caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2022

I recently had both an endoscopy and a follow up colonoscopy and on both occasions, the staff (in particular the nurses) were just wonderful. These experiences are hardly pleasant but everyone I came into contact with was genuinely warm, personable and caring. All of which made me feel safe and preserved my sense of dignity! The fact that, on both occasions, I was admitted, seen and discharged in a really prompt and efficient fashion was also brilliant. Thank you all!

  3. Review titled ESH quality

by Bluesman - Posted on 17 November 2022

Reception at A&E has absolutely no way to prioritise triage, which may become important. I had an intermittently repeating cardiac issue. By the time I was seen, any tests that were done reveal no useful data at all - since the episode finished long before I was re-triaged! Whilst I have had a chronic, life-threatening condition requiring lifesaving meds, on previous visits I was treated as a drug seeker. Not good PR. At that time I found meds elsewhere after a long delay. On my experience, I would recommend patients go to another Health Trust.

  4. Review titled Terrible phone signal

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sally Wright - Posted on 09 October 2022

In this day and age surely someone in authority can sort out the mobile phone signal strength and upgrade mast to 4G.. and increase the hospital wi fi to accept WhatsApp calls..it is so unnecessary to keep taking up staff on wards time if you want to speak to a relative or visitor.. and the hospital reception staff are fielding calls too... really this isn't rocket science and would aid so many people including your very special staff.. Show you care and get something sorted!

  6. Review titled First class A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ms Carole West - Posted on 16 October 2022

Having not visited an A&E for some years and never East Surrey, I was unsure what to expect. However, I was seen quickly, the staff were extremely friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Various tests followed by the consultation with a senior doctor all took place in perfectly reasonable timescales, plus a follow up set time appointment booked in another part of the hospital for the next morning. This, even with a pretty full waiting area. I was extremely impressed. Thank you, East Surrey A&E team.

  7. Review titled Politeness, professionalism and friendliness at this hospital

    by Raymondo1943 - Posted on 13 January 2023

Given the enormous pressure that this fantastic hospital was experiencing, I was amazed at the staff which treated me during the four visits I made between late November and mid-December 2022. The politeness, professionalism and friendliness - I could not fault them in any way. So well done East Surrey Hospital and all your staff.
