  1. Review titled The whole experience was pleasant

    by uniformhp55 - Posted on 19 May 2023

I have had the bed for 10 years, but recently my MS has deteriorated and l have been leaning on my right hand side. My carer noticed my predicament and used extra pillows to prop me up satisfactorily. I mentioned this state of affairs to my MS nurse at a recent group meeting, and she promised to contact the appropriate OT to review the bed. This duly occurred and the OT was able to understand the problem and promised to arrange the necessary modifications to the bed to rectify my bed posture. This was carried out calmly and efficiently, ensuring l was aware of the decisions taken. The whole experience was pleasant, ensuring l was comfortable with the outcome of decisions taken. The OT was kind and thoughtful throughout, putting me at my ease from the beginning and giving me confidence in her ability.

  2. Review titled What a wonderful team.

    by jiveqe89 - Posted on 12 April 2023

I call my team, the A team. Since my diagnosis of Bulbar MND they have been my right arm literally. Nothing is too much trouble, they have shown me services I can get and always pepped me up when I'm feeling down. What a wonderful team.

  3. Review titled Very rude Qualified Screener

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024

I was truly relieved that today I attended a diabetic screening at the eye clinic at Edgware Hospital and so happy that I was taken care meticulously by a new Screener I who was truly professional, caring, knowledgeable, caring and above all quick and efficient in his eye screening. I was in and out of the hospital within 30 minutes. The reason for writing this review was that I was dreading going today thinking I will be seen by the Iranian screener, where my last couple of years being seen by him left me feeling very dissatisfied with his terrible customer service, his rude attitude, his being painfully slow in doing something that was completed today within half hour. It used to be a painful, irritating and frustrating experience as patents were left for at least an hour waiting to be seen by him as after each patient he would have the closed for a long time till the next patient being called. What a relief that I was not seen by him today and pray that again next year I am seen by isi Please keep him there now always and have the other screener transferred out!!!

  4. Review titled My story is about my stroke

    by taurusky98 - Posted on 05 July 2023

In April 2023 I had a stoke. Which I was admitted to the UCLH hospital for several months. During my stay an application was made for me to go a rehab ward. I was then told I have been given a place in a level 2 rehab unit which was called NRC and is based in Edgware. During my time at the NRC my progress has been significant. I have had support from staff members enabling me to help me with my speech and language, Occupational therapy, Psychology- arithmetic and a refresh of the life skills that I need.

  5. Review titled My journey from hoist to walking

    by castoree75 - Posted on 27 July 2023

I had a major stroke which affected my entire life, including movement and speech. I arrived at the NRC able to speak, but using a hoist and unable to do basic things such as using my mobile and writing, and feeling very sad. In my 10 weeks here, I was taken from the hoist to the sara study, and eventually using a tripod to walk; I am leaving tomorrow with the ability to use my mobile phone as normal, such as replying to emails and scrolling online, and I will walk out using an aid. This is all thanks to the wonderful and encouraging physios here! The nursing staff and HCAs are exemplary - they have been very kind and patient; I love them all and will miss them! My only recommendation is that there is more entertainment at the weekends as it is very lonely. Volunteers that could do activities with the patients would be much appreciated.

  7. Review titled Wonderful services

by Sibling Love - Posted on 28 June 2023

In March my brother had a stroke. He was rushed to Queens Square hospital where he was in ICU for a few days. From there he went to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead for a few weeks then on to the most amazing rehabilitation centre called NRC in Edgware. Whilst there he had a whole team of wonderful people who taught him to walk, speak, write, read, make food, care for himself, to wash and dress. They helped with his thoughts and feelings and taught new ways to do things for himself. We will be eternally grateful to every person who cared for him from March up until the day he left rehab in June. When he left rehab, a wonderful social services care package was set up for him and continuing therapies are being held in his new home. The care and support we have received throughout this difficult time has been and continues to be wonderful.

  10. Review titled Recovery after stroke

    by horologiumhg66 - Posted on 19 May 2023

Much improved since receiving physiotherapy treatment: from needing to be fully hoisted to ability to walk using walking frame. Excellent services received from physiotherapists. They are both very caring and dedicated. Many thanks.

Dear horologiumhg66 Thank you for taking the time to write and let us know the impact the service has had on supporting you to get back to walking. I remember coming to see you at home for an assessment on the "snow day" and understanding how different your home set up had to be for you since being discharged from hospital. I am so glad that you have been supported to get back to walking with a frame. The team have commented on your commitment and your wife's support in getting to this point - thank you for taking a hugely active part in your recovery.
