Had an invasive procedure and became seriously infected very soon after. In trying to eliminate the possible source of the infection I requested details of their sterilisation procedure, but - 2 months later - they still haven’t responded. Do they have something to hide?

  2. Review titled Poor Aftercare

My mother was scheduled to have a cataract operation on 22 January but it was abandoned as she could not sit still. My mother could not get comfortable even though the nurses tried to help. Also the room was very cold and she shivered throughout the attempted procedure. My mother was brought back to the reception area by a nurse. She was very upset and her eye looked very red and sore and she had an enlarged pupil. She did not have an eye patch on her eye and the nurse only said my mother would have slight discomfort which would ease over the afternoon. Unfortunately, my mother had to have an emergency appointment at the Ophthalmology Department at Kettering General the next day because she had a severe headache and had been sick throughout the night this was due to the pressure in her eye, which was 50 (it should have been 20 or below). The doctor immediately administered eye drops and the pressure did eventually come down. I continued to administer the eye drops at home for 3 days. We had 2 further emergency appointments on Wednesday 24 January and Thursday 1 February. I do not understand why my mother or I weren’t given better aftercare advice or any guidance on what to do should my mother have problems with her eye.

Thank you Vera for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you did not have a visit that you expected. Senior sister has tried to be in contact with you regarding your mothers care, she will keep trying until we are able to make contact to discuss this further with you.
