Ct Scan in May no results yet, nearly 3 months ago. Have been told results take 8 weeks despite being sent by the Cobalt Centre digitally, same happened with Mri earlier in the year. Ward Sa.

  2. Review titled Worst service NHS

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 May 2023

Been told to wait for 4 hours and it’s been 10 hours and still no one’s ready to help. 2 Doctors out of 3 have gone for a break and nurses will keep on saying you’re next. Every other person in the waiting area left as no one served them. Is this how hospitals work? Worst experience ever. I’ve been to different countries and this was the worst one for hospitals and doctors. I could have easily taken a flight to italy which was 1.5 hours and got myself checked and got back before a patient gets served here.

  3. Review titled Poor ultrasound experience

    by chamaeleonss73 - Posted on 02 June 2023

I was due to have an ultrasound on my womb and was told to drink two pints of water one hour before, which I did. I also brought with me a further one litre bottle of water as I had been suffering with an upset stomach due to nerves of having the ultrasound. I got to the appointment early and ended up being called in around 15 to 20 minutes to when the start of my appointment should have been. Once in the room, the nurse conducting the ultrasound didn't speak to me to begin with and just seemed generally angry or impatient. Then they said that my bladder wasn't full and they couldn't complete the procedure, asked very accusingly had I even drank the water I was supposed to. I said I had but that I had diarrhea so not sure if that would make a difference. They proceeded to roll their eyes like they didn't believe I had drank the water and turned their back on me and sat down at the desk. I mentioned I had more water with me, could I go and drink some and try again in 15 minutes (when the start of my appointment should be) and they said it takes longer than 5 minutes for it to pass through, but in such a tone as to make it sound like I was being thick. Prior to this, I had told them that I was told to say that I wasn't to have the internal examination, so this would mean that we wouldn't need the full time regardless. But they just told me that I would have to re-book and I ended up back in my car 10 minutes before the start of my actual appointment. I tried to call from the car park and make a new appointment for the same day as I had to travel a long distance and take time off from work to be there. Unfortunately, after 30 minutes on hold, I was told that there were no other appointments available but they did tell me the reason I was seen early was because the previous person was a no-show. I couldn't stop crying once I came off the phone, it was such a terrible experience in the way I was spoken to and treated. It could have gone so much differently if they had just seen me when my appointment should have been or been more understanding rather than treat me like an idiot or like I was wasting their time. Unfortunately, I cannot bring myself to go back to have the ultrasound and will just have to hope that I am actually okay despite the symptoms I have been experiencing.

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us about the poor experience that you had in radiology. I will forward your comments to the department so that they may reflect and learn from your experience. I would urge you to make another appointment for an ultrasound as they are so important Once again, I apologise for the experience that you had - we try hard to ensure all women are put at ease during ultrasounds and although we failed to reach the standard that you should expect, I would hope that in future appointments you would see a better version of our Trust.

  4. Review titled A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ruth Chamberlain - Posted on 25 May 2023

I contacted the Ambulance Service because of concern about my heart very late on Saturday night. They arrived very quickly-fortunately they’d been nearby. They were very pleasant, did several tests and told my daughter who had arrived shortly after them that it was very serious and they would take me to A&E at Gloucester Royal, blue light on. We were met at the door and I went immediately for assessment and tests. The staff were attentive, kind and thoughtful. Fortunately it was quiet for a Saturday night. When the final test showed improvement I was given a supply of medication and allowed to go home after about 3 hours, not too sure exactly. Absolutely no complaints, just overwhelming praise and gratitude for Ambulance crew and A&E staff. Ruth

  5. Review titled Wonderful, professional team.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 April 2023

My wife and I would like to give our utmost thanks for the excellent treatment she received today in the A & E dept at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The care, attention and professionalism given by all staff was simply amazing. At a time when the NHS is facing so much pressure, they and the amazing Ambulance Service teams provided the care and skill to help my wife when we need urgent help. Thank you all.

  6. Review titled Thorough investigations

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 13 April 2024

I arrived at A&E and was quickly sent to SDEC. The investigations and tests that were carried out were very thorough. All the staff were friendly, patient, kind and caring. I was there all day but I left feeling reassured and that I had been well looked after. I am very grateful for the excellent service that I received.

  7. Review titled Horrendous care for elderly

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 March 2023

My father was admitted to 6b and stayed almost a week. For the first 3 days he only had a bed in the corridor. This is right by the entrance/exit door. Impossible for him to sleep with the door all night and lights going on and off. Also next to the vacuum chute used for pathology. He mentioned to be two instances of poor 'care'. 1. When he felt sick he was asked by his nurse 'are you making yourself sick?'. 2. He was 'helped' back to bed by an HCA in the night after going to the toilet - she was annoyed he couldn't get his leg in the bed due to his mobility issues and instead of helping, shoved his leg in herself and hurt him. He was taken for an xray while lunch was being served and when he came back was told his lunch had been taken away because it wasn't eaten!!?? He was eventually moved to a room which was ok. However he was then moved again to a filthy room with used dressings on the floor and no curtains. The ward is obviously understaffed and underfunded. Mostly the staff were lovely other than the two mentioned. There is a day room but it's not in use- just a grubby room used for storage of old chairs, boxes of urinal bottles, broken shower seats etc. It would surely be better to use it for beds rather than a busy corridor right by the entrance/exit door? Overall I was saddened seeing my Dad, (a proud retired paramedic who had given so many years of his life to the NHS) on this ward.I hope things improve.

I was very nervous about having a tooth root extracted, but was put entirely at ease. The extraction was quick and painless, and completed within 20 minutes.

  9. Review titled Above and beyond

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jp Fourie - Posted on 03 March 2023

My partner went in for a c section and from the moment we arrived until we left we were shocked at how far each member of staff were willing to go above and beyond to ensure the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable as it could be. Every step was explained to us and they was so understanding of us. Thank you to each person who was involved and the support given. Nothing was ever to much to ask for and even offered to look after the twins so we could have an hours sleep.

  10. Review titled The staff members were truly amazing

    by Ellie823 - Posted on 27 April 2023

I had my operation and they were absolutely incredible. Nothing was too much from any of the staff members, they were truly amazing. The staff in this ward deserve so much praise as they are the most amazing staff. I was in a lot of pain after my operation due to having a bad tibial reconstruction. They ensured my pain was completely under control to the best of their abilities at all times. They were also happy for me to stay an extra day until I felt well and strong enough to go home. It wasn’t just the nurses that were great it was every single person I had contract with, from the doctors to the anaesthetist as well as the carers. Mayhill Day Unit at GRH, you are just incredible and give the best care, keep up the good work you are appreciated! I really hope this reaches someone on the ward so they see how much they are appreciated. Thank you all again!
