Review titled Great surprise
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Valerie hicken - Posted on 17 January 2023
I saw a consultant about 2nd eye cataract surgery after experiencing bizarre, unsettling visual distortions. I saw him on Friday. He said he would do the surgery as soon as possible. 4 days later I’ve had it done. Amazing. Thank you. I am writing this the day after surgery and am already so much better. Life changing.

I have recently lost my baby however the sack the baby was in still remained in my uteris, i had an op to have the sack removed undeer genreal anesthetic, after the op i was in recovery for no more than 2 hours, i was unable to walk or go to the toilet by myself, i was then moved to a ward and left in a bed for 5 minutes before a nurse cane over and told me this bed was for someone else she then proceded to tell me my discharge papers wpuld be posted to me and any prescriptions, so i was left to limp out of hospital by myself no more than 3 hours after waking up from the op, i have had no explination of what has happened as i never seen a doctor before leaving nor was i giving pain relife, the follwing night at home my blood pressure plumeted and my parter then rang 111 who were put raged at what they were hearing and proceded to send an ambulance, howevwr aftwr 4 hours of waiting my partner cancelled the ambulance as my vitals had stabalised, im still currently bed bound at home with no information on what happened during my op.

Review titled No structure lack of care & compassion
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My mother was rushed in by ambulance on New Year’s Day. She was treated by several different staff none of which we saw twice. She was then moved to Acute Care Unit 2 without a telephone call to the family to let us know. We went to visit and her bay had someone else in there. We were told to go upstairs where we found her confused and in pain. We requested pain killers & were told yes later. 2 hours later we asked again. We were told she could go home and I said how when she needed an endoscopy I was told by the nurse oh really. She was awoken one morning at 4.30am & was told she was moving. Then told oh sorry wrong patient. Two weeks later she was told she could go home, after constantly calling the hospital to find out what time we could collect her we were told two hours give it time for them to sort her meds. My friend visited at 3.45pm and was told someone has gone to pharmacy to collect medication. We arrived at 4.15pm I asked where here meds where they unlocked her locker and started ticking off what she had. It then came to light that two items were not there and would have to get from cupboard. I said but we were told that someone had gone to get them, this was a lie. While we waited for 25 minutes with my mother sat in a wheelchair 3 nurses were sat on chairs on their phones on Facebook &Whatsapp witnessed by my friend who is also a nurse and was furious. Eventually her medication was given to us at 5.30pm. She since has told me that the nurses weren’t very nice and that she’d sent a commode away when she hadn’t even used it yet. The lack of care she received saddens me when she is a retired nurse.

I am saddened to read your feedback about the care that your mum received whilst in our hospital - it is certainly not to the level we strive to work at and I can only apologise. Feedback like yours is so important to us so that we can learn and I would really urge you to contact your Patient Advice and Liaison Department (PALS) to talk through your experience in more detail so we can try to ensure that this does not happen again. PALS can be contacted by phone on 0800 019 3282 or via email at ghn-tr.pals.gloshospitals@nhs.net

Review titled Outstanding hearing aid solution
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Stephen Phillips - Posted on 21 December 2022
Had to get help for my old hearing aids. Was given new Bluetooth hearing aids. They are brilliant. Totally changed my hearing and integration with my phone. The help I got was quick and effective. Totally changed my hearing. Wanted to leave a huge thank you to Hearing Services and the NHS who have supported me so successfully.

Incredible care. Brought my 92 year old father in for assessment after falls. Kind, thorough, considerate staff full of helpful advice despite having difficult news to relay. Thank you for being straightforward and honest but kind. Cannot thank them enough.

Review titled Children’s a&e
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2022
We came here at around 9pm on a Monday night with our toddler who had fallen off the bed and was limping. The children’s a&e waiting room was so full that there wasn’t even a space to stand in let alone a seat. It was really hot with no ventilation. The staff were nice - we only spoke to the lady at the main triage desk. We saw one family who were back in the waiting room following their x-ray who said they had been there since 3.30pm and had just got the X-ray. We left and went to Bristol Royal instead and we were in and out in under 2 hours. Absolutely not the fault of the staff who are I’m sure as wonderful and hard working as every hospital. But it was just too busy and too full for the size of the hospital and it seemed for the amount of staff too.

by Olga - Posted on 08 November 2022
I had an extremely painful internal abdominal bleeding. Arrived Ambulance crew were attentive, caring and professional. I had a morphine immediately to ease the pain. Later I was reviewed and looked after at Gynae ward. Nurses and hca team were professional and looking well after their patients. Special thank you to the young night lady nurse who looked after me: outstanding professionalism followed by warm attitude, kindness and understanding of patient's needs, amazing social and personal skills. Also thank you to the lovely and very kind senior lady nurse. All my medical documents, procedures and medication was processed in no time.
