Review titled Mixed feelings
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Beth - Posted on 24 April 2023
Maternity assessment centre were absolutely useless when I went into labour, they were rude and made me feel stupid when I called about being in labour as a first time mum. I went in after the call as I felt something wasn’t right but was sent home despite saying i thought my waters may have gone. I was told to call when I was in active labour, but then when i did they made me feel like I was just being silly and said I may be sent home if I went in. When I got there they were rude and abrupt until they realised I wasn’t being silly and my back waters had gone and I was 4cm dilated, by this time though they had left me over the 24 hour period they should have so this resulted in me and my baby having a week long stay after birth with both of us showing infection markers. My temperature and bp were all over the place during labour and it could have been dangerous if it weren’t for our fantastic midwife and the staff on labour ward. The ladies on the post natal ward were great too and very helpful during our stay, as well as the amazing doctors on the neonatal unit. Overall a good experience in the end but shocked and disappointed in the poor treatment by the maternity assessment centre.

Review titled Happy Experience Ambulatory Care S Dec

I spent 5 hours following unexpected heart concerns. At every point of contact I was treated with courtesy, respect and professionalism from the array of staff I encountered. Receptionists, porter, nurses, doctor and consultant. Really so much better than the constant negative rhetoric the press deem to carelessly promote. Sure, the NHS is underfunded but my experience is testimony that the caring, talented care and admin staff are working there socks off. Communication, comfortable chairs, Wi-Fi, water/squash, biscuits and even given a pretty good cuppa by the roving enthusiastic T lady. Thank you all concerned and keep up the invaluable and much appreciated good work. Where would we be without you.

Review titled Delivery Suite

I cannot thank the staff enough at the maternity unit. Especially the labour ward. Going through labour for the first time is scary enough but the staff here made me feel like I was part of their family. My time here was pretty traumatic. The midwives did everything they could to try and help me give birth naturally, however my body and the synthetic hormone drip wouldn’t allow for this. During constant contractions the midwives were constantly sitting with me through the night and being my biggest cheerleaders. In the end I needed a c-section. All the staff comforted me and explained everything that I should expect. During my epidural the anaesthetist had to take 4 attempts at getting it in the right place as I unfortunately have a vessel that goes up my spine and it was in the way. She made me feel calm and was determined we would get it done to avoid the alternative. All while the midwife was holding my hand and rubbing my back. During surgery the staff constantly checked on me, made conversation and made me and my partner feel comfortable and at home. Even had banter with us when my partner decided to faint in theatre. The anaesthetist went above and beyond her job role with comforting me. My after care was just as incredible. The staff that looked after me during my stay here genuinely cared for mine and my babies well being and No amount of words I could write would show how grateful we are for how well they looked after us. The staff really are a credit to the maternity unit.

I had a major op here last week my first ever op and they were really good looking after me. My only concern was communication my husband rang to ask if I was okay and back from theatre but couldn’t get through.
