  1. Review titled Almost perfect

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2024

Visited urology as an out of area patient from Derbyshire, as the majority of hospitals within a 50 mile radius of my home are not fit for purpose. Parking here is a nightmare. I was very fortunate to drop on to a vacant disabled space but for other people, they didn't appear as fortunate. Secondly, the main entrance is cluttered and has far too many signs, almost overwhelming. Surely there is a simpler way of mapping the hospital. I am autistic and therefore this wasn't ideal. I also had no idea I was supposed to check in at a terminal on arrival. It was all very confusing, congested and overwhelming but the reception desk eventually helped me find where I needed to be. I was seen earlier than my appointment time and out within 15 mins. The consultant was supportive, understanding and competent and I was appreciative of this and the care I received.

  2. Review titled Told that I don't have right to be seen at.A&E

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Jack m Steel - Posted on 21 October 2024

I was informed, if my chest pain continues, gets worse or I feel that I need to call 111 or go to A&E. Am 50, living with a couple of little medical issues one blood cancer. As told and after completing the 111 online form suggesting A&E I drive to Harrogate from York. During booking I was asked why I didn't go to York I was again asked this during my first stage assessment and I explained I felt uncomfortable at York. I was challenged to why I was attending when I have a GP appointment the next day and during explaining I was informed it I not have a right to attend A&E and how it was for people who need it. I spoke to reception who despite not being in the room said I don't think that's what he said. Am listening to it as am writing this. He did lady. Am lost, confused and left.

  3. Review titled Needs looking at

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I would like to give a great review but was not given a chance to. I am an autistic man who was made to feel unwelcome by the Harrogate district reception team. Unfriendly and unsmiling was the impression I received today. I found the waiting room chairs extremely uncomfortable, and had to leave after 2 hours of waiting, unable to complete my diagnosis.

  6. Review titled Neglected service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had sharp pains and was concerned I was having a miscarriage, they gave me a blood test and a urine sample and I was left for over 6 hours to suffer with my abdominal pain whilst in a poor mental state. I approached the front desk for an update on the situation and three members of staff physically turned their backs on me and didn’t discuss it with me at all. I am genuinely shocked at this after standing there for over 5 minutes waiting for them to turn around.

  9. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 09 July 2024

I arrived to a busy A&E department following advice from my GP. I was quickly seen by triage and then following an ECG administered by a very kind nurse who explained what would be happening to me. I was treated by an excellent Doctor who diagnosed my condition and looked after me until I was admitted to a ward. All the staff that evening, despite being very busy looked after me with great care & skill and I am very grateful to them.

I attended for a gastroscopy today. I was very anxious but all the staff I dealt with were kind, caring and reassuring. Everything was explained carefully and I can’t fault anything. The consultant was also friendly, kind and put me at ease.
