Review titled ECG reception
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 June 2023
So I tried to organise an ECG about a month ago. Trying to get through to the department was absolutely difficult. Noone seems to want to pick up the phone. Always constantly ringing, I did manage to get through after about a week of calling to book. Had the ECG which I've no criticism of the procedure or the ECG staff but now chasing up the results of this and again trying to get through and nobody bothers to pick up the phone.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dawinder - superstar she was and so friendly and helpful. I was going back and fourth trying to sort my meds out. She went out of her way to help me get sorted, much appreciated an asset to her team. Thankyou.

Review titled Couldn't fault my care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 May 2023
I was admitted to the Day Care Surgery Unit for a gynaecology procedure. I am a nervous patient but I was put at ease at every step of the way. Every member of staff I encountered (surgeon, anaesthetist, nurses) treated me like an individual, despite my surgery being fairly routine and one of many being treated that day. The staff are doing an amazing job and I hope they get recognised or that. My experience has made me a much less nervous patient and for that I am very grateful!

Review titled Really skilful doctors
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 April 2023
I was admitted in April 2023 with an abdominal emergency. Junior Doctor who assessed me in the SAU was amazing and she patiently explained the likely course of events. Her boss the next day was very skilled and I felt in very good hands throughout. The wards are aging and that’s not the hospital’s fault; the newly refurbed SAU was lovely. Please ignore the CQC rating - it’s ridiculous how one word can summarise the level and intricacy of care across such a large organisation. The hospital needs our support not central government’s criticism.

Review titled The lack of staffing and waiting time
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023
The lack of staffing is unbelievable. The fact is that when you the patient are booked for an appointment you have to give as much notice as possible if delays or cancellations, if you’re late then you will not be seen and your appointment will be cancelled. However, when you arrive 10 minutes before your appointment and wait 30 minutes before asking the reception when you’ll be seen is ridiculous. Nobody updating you on the wait time. I’ve waited over an hour to be seen with no indication by the reception staff on how long will that be. As a carer that is incredibly ignorant of the patients time, not even an apology over the fact that they are running late. I’m beyond appalled by the way this system is.

Review titled Xray results taking forever!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 May 2023
I had a xray scan on the 24th March and although the scan was done in literally a few seconds I still do not have the results and it now says I am expected to get the results on the 18th June which will be just over 12 weeks since the scan! This is ridiculous!

Review titled A tale of two halves
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Angela - Posted on 02 February 2023
It is quite staggering how varied my mum's care was at HH. The Drayton Ward I found to be unhygienic (shocking toilets!) and nurses sitting around chatting and generally appearing disinterested. By contrast, I have high praise for the staff and environment of Acute Respiratory and ICU - both departments are to be commended for their expertise, compassion and quality of care. Although my mum sadly passed away after 12 days of Intensive Care, she and the family felt her care could not have been better and staff tried their utmost. The fabric of the hospital is woeful in places - the long dark cold corridors to ICU filled with buckets to catch drips are utterly depressing and it is good news that the hospital will be undergoing a major transformation. Parking facilities are poor, expensive and the drop off zone is wholly unsuitable for frail and elderly visitors.

Review titled Very unorganised
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jiwan kenth - Posted on 05 January 2023
I'm a cancer patient and developed new condition. Sent to A&E by GP, after 7 hours seen by a nurse. After another hour contacted them to be seen. Explained to AE doctor my condition and made my blood test results from other hospital. After an hour a registrar came and explained that they don't have qualified nurse on duty even next day and he wasn't sure about the protocol of this particular disease as in his country south Africa its different. Discharged After ten hours in the early hours of morning. Awaited call from the nurse till midday but no communication. Went to another hospital Ae and they went through everything and i will be treated there.
