  1. Review titled Really good initial Care, mostly awful level of care after

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mark Page - Posted on 20 January 2025

My wife was admitted to A&E with abdominal pain. She was really well treated and admitted to hospital that day, which turned into a 7 day stay. The most disappointing aspect was the level of care from a majority of the nurses. Predominantly through the night. Being made to feel a burden for ringing the buzzer. Being looked at like a piece of dirt. Ripping out a cannula in petulance at being asked for help. Changeover shift nurses not having a clue of you're history or condition. Being given high fiber food when you should be on low fiber diet. Causing extreme diarrhea. Really disappointing to be made to feel worthless and a burden, to interrupt the nurses chatting with their mates in the corridor. Poo samples being left in the ward toilet for 8 hours. This is not aimed at all the staff as some where great. A real lack of leading senior member of staff monitoring everyone and informing changeover staff of patients needs and conditions. It was incredulous to watch this unfold. The lack of organization and lack of understanding why patients where actually there. Was supposed to be discharged on the Thursday. But the changeover nurse had absolutely no knowledge of this and it became to late in the day to happen. Blind leading the blind springs to mind, which is such a shame.

  2. Review titled Ambulatory Care Unit

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Diagnosed with a DVT after being on a long flight . A&E very quick to carry out D-Dimer test . Referred for scan , which was carried out very quickly by two lovely ladies in the imaging dept . Got sent to ACU after the scan and was seen very quickly by Nurse Practitioner , who answered all my questions . From the moment I walked into Hinchingbrooke I was met by cheerful staff throughout , from cleaning staff , reception and nursing staff . Easy to knock the NHS , but they are doing their best and I have nothing but praise for everyone involved in my journey through this hospital . Thank you

  3. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended Hinchingbrooke Hospital for a chest ultrasound appointment 1.5 hours early on 05.10.24 and was seen early, the staff members were amazing - Special mention to the team on duty and whilst I know you cannot use real names - these ladies were so friendly, professional and were kind enough to recognise I had to attend and leave in good time to catch a bus service home to a remote area. Please could you make sure this feedback is given to the managers of that team, both NHS workers were a credit to the profession. Thank you so much.

This morning I attended the CT Colonoscopy dept and would just like to say that some lovely people conducted the scan, also the nurse who took down my details was very helpful I was seen promptly and dealt with very kindly. Apologies, I cannot remember their names, but thank you.

  6. Review titled Amazing Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I popped into A&E on the advice of my GP at 6am on Monday morning. I was triaged quickly and an assessment made within an hour and a half that an abcess needed to be drained, the reception and A&E team were great. I was then moved to the ACU (Ambulatory Care Unit) where further assessment was carried out by the general surgery team and I was given instructions not to eat or drink just as a lovely volunteer came around offering free coffee and sandwiches (bad luck there!)... I was then given fluids, antibiotics and liquid paracetamol until I was advised I would need surgery and was moved to the Daisy ward. Everyone on the ACU and Daisy ward were more than willing to help and guide me through the process that was about to unfold. Initially they thought local anaesthetic might be suitable, but it was later decided a general anaesthetic would be better. I was officially admitted to the hospital and had surgery at 5pm that evening. I woke in the recovery room feeling fine and was taken back to the ward. I was monitored overnight and discharged by 11am the next morning. I can't praise all the staff and volunteers at Hinchingbrooke enough and wanted to leave this review as thanks... you are all amazing!

  8. Review titled Slow in the end

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Started off well with tests being done in a reasonable time frame and results also, however was told the cannula needed removing which was over 2 hours ago and still counting/waiting in the ambulatory department .so started off well and let them selves down at the end with the basics.
