Review titled Perfect surgery aftercare
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kerri Oneil - Posted on 01 November 2023
I had a complex operation at this hospital. I live in Coventry and this is the first time I’ve ever been to this hospital. My experience with our city hospital has mostly been a shambles, nothing goes to plan and normally just left, so I was pleasantly surprised to be treated with dignity by every member of staff here at St Cross. The recovery nurse was so calming and chatty, surgery staff, nurses, physios & also I had a lovely tea trolley girl have a good normal conversation with me making me feel respected like a human requiring care, should. My obs were done every 4 hours, I was flabbergasted that I was receiving this! New to me! I can’t thank the staff enough here, each and everyone. The experience I had blew me away because I was dreading what I was used to at my normal hospital. If I have choice I will always want to come here in future. Your staff here are a credit to the nhs!

Review titled Being spoken to and tears whilst in A&E
by Lbee - Posted on 26 June 2023
I drove myself to St Cross, as I was told there were no ambulances available, I had stabbing pains in my stomach that were making me sick and feel as if I were going to pass out. After getting there A&E was empty and there were two ambulances in the bay. I was seen after 10 mins and taken through to Triage, triage then sent me through to the A&E ward. I was screaming in pain and got told to stop being silly and keep the noise down. I was told I would be given pain relief until the nurse saw self harm marks on my legs, they asked are those track marks? I was absolutely shocked and disgusted. After that I was told they were not treating me and that I was going to Walsgrave. I can’t write what else they said because I found it absolutely vile. My treatment was appalling. I had to discharge myself from Walsgrave yesterday because I was told if my car wasn’t moved after 24hrs I would be charged £100 plus £8 a day. I can’t afford that. I’m back at home and not fully recovered. I couldn’t even wait for the results of my CT scan because I was so worried about the car and charges.

Review titled A really pleasant experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Victoria T - Posted on 30 June 2023
I visited the endoscopy department today on Willow ward at Rugby St Cross. I was welcomed by a really friendly receptionist that got me booked in and passed to the nursing team. The nurses and other professionals put me at ease and were really supportive and comforting. I completed my visit and was discharged with my paperwork and clear instructions. I would certainly recommend the hospital and staff and would like to thank them for their amazing care and professionalism.

Review titled The Heart Nurse Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Douglas Keill - Posted on 04 June 2023
On the 31st May, 2023, I was reassuringly “Signed Off” by the superb Heart Nurse Team of St Cross Hospital, Rugby. Their very professional care, attention and consideration that I have been so fortunate to have benefited from, for some considerable time, has been superb, and so comfortably personable. For sure I have names, however, my and my family’s sincere thanks and praise encompasses The Heart Nurse team, and their telephone support. To have you “at my side”, within just a ‘phone call, has been, and still is, so wonderfully reassuring. We thank you, once again, so very sincerely, for your support and the wonderful job you do.

Review titled Directions

The first important thing is to tell patients where you are. St Cross is much better than University Hospital, but it is still difficult to find out where in the warren of St Cross each department is. The web site is almost useless in this respect.

Review titled Wonderful experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by SSmith - Posted on 08 April 2023
I was dreading this surgery having never been in hospital before. However, it was the most pleasant experience, much like a holiday. Staff were respectful, polite, helpful at all times, they worked so hard and really went above and beyond. All members of staff were outstanding. I felt safe and cared for for the 3 days I was there. Only issue is the waiting times as I waited a year for this procedure. After care has also been outstanding. I am so glad I had my complex surgery here, can’t fault the treatment, food and general overall experience

Review titled W[llow Ward
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Hallam - Posted on 27 February 2023
0n Friday 24/02/2023, I attended an appointment for a Colonoscopy at Willow Ward. I was accompanied by my daughter. On arrival we were given a friendly greeting from the receptionist, she was so friendly, welcoming, professional, funny and helpful. My daughter and I both said that she was the best receptionist we had met. If I had any anxieties regarding the colonoscopy, she put my mind at rest and dispelled all my worries. She was lovely and is an asset to Willow Ward. I must also add that every single member of the team involved with the colonoscopy were also brilliant. They treated me with dignity and all of the nurses and the doctor, kept me informed of all the procedures they were carrying out, and were all very efficient, professional and friendly and reassuring. i have never had such excellent treatment before. The whole team were amazing. I cannot thank them enough. Willow Ward is absolutely amazing
