Review titled Excellent A&E Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gillian Wilkes - Posted on 23 September 2024
I am 84 yrs old and had a fall onto a tiled floor whilst visiting my daughter in Suffolk. I hit my head and badly gashed the side of my hand. I also had extensive bruising, and thought a broken wrist or hand. Although assessed quickly I did have a 2 and half hour wait for treatment. Once taken through to see a doctor I can only find praise for the care and attention I received. The young doctor who supervised was very kind and considerate as were other doctors who were consulted. The male nurse practitioner who stitched my wound and generally treated me was quite outstanding. A big thank you to all concerned.

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I’d like to thank all the staff on the Bergholt ward for looking after our little girl so well today. From the moment we arrived, the care we received was very thorough and quick. All staff made us feel heard and like we were in safe hands. We are so grateful and while the department was busy we didn’t feel we had to wait long for anything and you could see that the team worked really well together. Thank you all so much.

Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My daughter has just given birth at Ipswich Hospital. I was pleasantly surprised by the restrictions on visitor numbers, and the buzz in system/locked ward door. This is so much better than when I had my babies here 30 years ago. It feels safer, quieter and calmer. Well done! 👏

Review titled Lovely bunch of people.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

A first appointment at Dermatology. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, everyone we met was kind, helpful and friendly. Great service in the unit itself but add to that every staff member we met on corridors, photo unit etc. You know a good workplace when staff talk so highly of it. Well done, Ipswich!

Thank you so much for your quick and efficient help yesterday with my knee. From the triage, the Emergency Care receptionist, doctor and Radiologist, all were super friendly and I was seen really quickly. Yes I was lucky that it wasn’t too busy yesterday but my experience was super.

Review titled A long wait but kind staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 August 2024
I was brought into by Ambulance at 11:30pm with chest pain and I had a quick ecg and bloods. I was placed in the waiting room with a very long wait time of over 8 hours. After 3 hours I unfortunately collapsed and had a seizure and the staff were kind giving me oxygen as my Sats dropped to 86% and they helped me onto a trolley and told the Dr. Unfortunately I was then left for many hours in a cubicle, after 3 hours I was turfed out of the trolley and put in a chair in a waiting space and left to sit again for many more hours. When I saw the Dr at 8am she was lovely and the day staff were also kind when I had 2 more collapses with a blood pressure of 80/30. There were no beds or ward space so I was put in a corridor on a trolley for many more hours. By this time though I felt better anyway and was discharged from the corridor by a consultant. The care was good, I was offered food and hot and cold drinks, I was treated well when I was in a acute emergency situation the only negative was the very long wait and 1 not so friendly nurse (agency). Thank you for looking after me

The staff at A+E at Ipswich Hospital were amazing. Seen, treated and discharged within 90 minutes, all taken very seriously and listened to. Constant reassurance throughout the treatment, lots of advice given and a smile from every staff member. This hospital is absolutely brilliant.

Review titled Racism
Rated 2 stars out of 5

The consultants and nursing staff behind the scenes were excellent. One of the staff in the waiting room was very sharp, unkind and bossy, on two occasions towards a particular patient. I felt this may well be related to her ethnicity since she really seemed undeserving of such treatment. One of the top rated reviews on Google for ipswich A+E is the one reading "racist staff" so perhaps I am not the only person to share this view. When I tried to speak about this to PALS I was told I could only offer feedback "on my own experiences". This does not appear to be a trust "committing to allyship" as you claim on your Equality and Diversity webpage.
