Review titled Awful place
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Barry Clegg - Posted on 13 July 2023
I visited A and E with chest pain and palpation. My time in A and E wasn't to bad it was when I was told to go to another department at the bottom of the hospital that my experience got bad. First I was given the wrong bracelet on as I was given white when I should of been given red as I'm allergic to penicillin. I had no x-ray on my chest . The doctor I spoke to seemed disinterested in my condition and what I had to say. I was only there for a hour or so no explanation why I'm getting chest pain or palpation so I'm still at square one. Will try a different hospital as this one hasn't got a terrible reputation for nothing. Stay well clear of this dump

Review titled Managing waiting
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Sharon Cole - Posted on 24 June 2023
We had to wait 2 1/2 hours before anything happened. My partner was whisked away and we sat apart for most of that time until I asked a nurse if we could wait together. Please allow patients the option to sit with family before their procedure if possible, as this reduces stress. Often waiting is the hardest part.

Review titled Couldn't have asked for more
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alisha Lack - Posted on 05 June 2023
I visited rheumatology for the first time in may of 2023, completely unsure of what to expect or what the appointment would entail, without going into my personal issues, i give the best review for these reasons- i was checked in by a lovely smiley member of staff who was helpful and called me through to take my height, weight and bp, very kind and professional. Whilst waiting in the waiting area, i witnessed the whole area being deep cleaned which is always reassuring in a medical/clinical environment. I was called through by the rheumatologist who shook my hand and directed me to his room, he went through everything, the ins and outs of my background, symptoms etc, physically checked me over and explained my symptoms both by showing me physically and verbally, he clearly explained the next steps, ways to help my symptoms and gave me a booklet with further info, i really couldn't praise the rheumatology department here high enough. I went in feeling slightly lost about the whole situation, and left with a clearer image, thanks to such an in-depth consultation and expert advice and plans, plus such a kind reception upon arriving. Following my consult i needed urgent blood tests, and was advised by my own gp to contact the hospital for my results, i was given the number to call and left a message with my details for a call bac, i was called back within the hour with all the information i needed. Thank you! if every department ran as smoothly as yourselves i doubt there would ever been need for complaint by anyone, you are a standard for many to work towards, keep it up.

Review titled Awful services
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ms. E. Anderson - Posted on 01 June 2023
I came into the delivery suite during week 20 of my pregnancy due to loss of amniotic fluid and severe abdominal pains. I was directed to a bed and then didn’t see or speak to a nurse , midwife or doctor of any kind for 3 hours. Eventually I walked to the desk to ask if a midwife would come to speak with me , another 1 and a half hours past and eventually she came in to me. I asked what was happening what the plan was and if I would be staying or going home. I was told she didn’t know I asked for pain relief and waited another half hour to be offered something I was allergic to , I declined this as per reason stated above and 2 paracetamol tablets were bought to me another 20 minutes later. I then saw a doctor who did swabs of my cervix for him to return 5 minutes after completion to tell me it wasn’t actually necessary due to my gestation and that they wouldn’t get proper results. No apology given. After being in the delivery suite for 7 hours at 1:30 am the doctor came to tell me I could go home, no explanation of why it took so long for that conclusion nor what had happened or next steps. At 1:40 am just as I was about to leave the head midwife came in to tell me actually he was incorrect and that I was being kept in and moved to rowan ward and that the doctor was “ new and hadn’t learnt the ropes yet” she walked with me to rowan ward. On rowan ward they checked baby’s heart beat every 45 minutes which was great but despite me complaining I still had severe pain I wasn’t offered pain relief until 8:30 am in which I was then given another 2 paracetamol tablets. Again I asked what was going on what had happened and what was going to happen and again was told “I don’t know”. At 11 am I then saw an Obstetrician and she explained why I might have lost fluid and why I might have pain but that I wasn’t dilated so to just go home. So I did. Honestly was an awful experience and made me feel like when it’s time to deliver my baby this September both baby and I wouldn’t be in safe hands but in completely inept ones. Awful experience wouldn’t recommend.

22 hours before a ward found. No drink or food offered. Call bells hanging on walls behind beds out of reach.continuous bright lights not dimmed at night. Continuous unnecessary noise of monitors which could be switched off by staff when not in use.
