  2. Review titled Great place but doctor was distracted

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Took my daughter here. She was triaged quickly in the children's section and we then waited 2 hours to be seen by a doctor, which isn't bad. I knew the problem beforehand but the doctor was more focused on asking me why my child doesn't have a sibling yet (I'm not planning on having any other children, not that it's any of the doctors business) and why only half of my daughters hair was braided. Maybe if she paid more attention to the illness I could have avoided a visit to the GP this week to get another antibiotic as my daughter was given a 5 day dose at kings mill, when she required a 10 day dose.

  4. Review titled Fantastic care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christine Moss - Posted on 27 January 2024

My mum has recently been on ward 23 for 2 weeks and the level of personal care was absolutely fantastic. The nurses and care assistants took the time to make the whole experience of her waiting for a pacemaker as easy as possible I visited daily and saw how they dealt with patients and visitors and cannot praise them enough . Even down to the ladies that came around with the meals who called my mum by her name and chatted to her. My mum was very impressed by the consultants that sat and took the time to explain everything to her. Overall they made a stressful period so much easier to deal with for all the patients in the ward. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my mum .

  5. Review titled Great experience

After attending A&E they scheduled an ENT appointment for me within a week. My ENT appointment was on time and the doctor listened to me and took me seriously. They assessed me and found an additional issue and provided me with treatment right then and there. I've never received such dedicated time and attention. I really felt valued and wanted to thank them for their care.

  6. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I brought my son to A&E, late last Monday evening with suspected neutropenic sepsis, as he had spiked a temperature during his chemotherapy treatment. The receptionist was very efficient and informed the triage nurse straight away who saw us immediately. He was assessed and taken to an isolation room in majors. There was only a chair in the room but we were told they would bring in a trolley. We waited almost an hour, before I asked if there was a trolley for him as he was feeling unwell. Finally a lovely nurse brought the trolley. After a while he also had bloods taken. I could see how busy the department was and the nurses were very busy. Eventually the dr came in, he was rather condescending and patronising, explaining why I should be wearing a mask all of the time while my son has been having his chemo. My son and I have spent the previous two weeks in hospital together and isolated from almost everyone else in order to minimise his risk of infection while his neutrophils were low. I am an ANP/CNS and have worked in Emergency care for a large part of my career, and I am fully aware of infection control procedures, and the guidance we had had from his oncologist that niether of us needed to wear masks in the house. His examination of my son was cursory, and very brief. I was very unhappy with him checking my son’s ears and throat with the torch from his phone (probably the most germ ridden item we all have!) and how he could see the tympanic membrane without an otoscope is anyone’s guess. He then left the room giving us no information or plan. Shortly after this I asked for peptac as my son gets significant heart burn after his chemo, he didn’t get this until approx 7am (5-6 hours after asking for it) as it turned out the Dr had lost his notes so nothing could be prescribed for him. We never saw this Dr again, except for a glance at his swollen hand, despite being in the department for 12hours. We had no idea what we were waiting for, or what the plan was. The nurse came to see him again around 4am and got him a bed and was Surprised no one else had been to do obs or talk us through the plan. We requested an anti emetic and the peptac again, However due to the missing notes he still didn’t have anything prescribed. My son is 18 dealing with a cancer diagnosis, was half way through his chemo and was now unwell, we were both really disappointed with the care we had in ED. He has stipulated that if we have any further issues he’ll refused to come back to Kingsmill. I understand the pressures in ED but that should not excuse poor care.

  8. Review titled Result of diagnostic

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Michael Beaumont - Posted on 09 February 2024

I attended the Clinic 4, King's Treatment Centre, on 08/01/2024 for an echocardiogram. At that time I was told that I could expect to hear the result from my GP in a week's time. It is now over a month and my GP surgery tells me that they have not had anything from you. Are you now able to pass the information across to my GP or let me know the reason for the delay? Thank you in advance.

  9. Review titled Could be better.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Had to visit the Kings Mill Emergency Department on a quiet morning. The Receptionists and Triarge nurses were all very friendly. However, the Doctor I seen there was rather blunt and wasn't very reassuring and shouldn't be working in such a department. Whilst he was knowledgeable he was far from approachable and needs to work on his people skills. Thankfully, he's found the issue I've been suffering with recently which I am greatful for and I'm now receiving treatment. Just wish my expirence with this Doctor had been better.

  10. Review titled Excellent experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nikki - Posted on 24 January 2024

The birthing and maternity team at Kingsmill were absolutely second to none! They were consistently excellent in their practice, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and maintained a sense of humour even when I could see they were under a lot of pressure. Not everyone on our ward appreciated how incredible they were and it really showed their commitment to their jobs that they didn't lose their rag with certain people whos sense of entitlement was Astonishing! My partner and I were thrilled with the service from start to finish, even though my birth was a bit of an adventure, I cannot express how grateful I am to have had such a wonderful team of practitioners on my side looking after the three of us. I hope they get to see this and know they are appreciated!
