Review titled Tremendous service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Richard - Posted on 18 April 2023
Had to attend on evening of 15 April with extremely painful and worrying urinary retention. Service I received from the team was first class, attentive, caring, professional and calm, despite a traumatic attempt to install catheter, eventually requiring theatre installation. The team in A&E and the theatre team in Urology were all exceptional. Everybody was friendly. Thank you!

So impressed with level of care received today from the Day Care Unit, Gynae team, Anaesthetists & Aftercare Ward. The doctor overseeing my procedure was wonderful and I felt lucky to be in her care.

Review titled Ambulance service needs more improvement for everyone
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Although the NHS ambulance is Seeming to be trying their best, facilities are always limited and the people’s time. i have spine injures and feel much pain in my legs which I told the ambulance people. When me and my son called they said they can provide a stretcher as I cannot sit upright without feeling immense pain. As they came they said they cannot use a stretcher. It wasn’t even an option to try for them and continued to say i will be taken down with the chair and hence continued to grab my legs which I told will give the ambulance lady I’m in much pain and you should advise holding on the hips to be more secure. My kids saw me screaming in pain but the transport said it’s the only thing they can do. They ignored or maybe wanted to get the job done as soon as possible as either way to them I am in pain although it would have been much appreciated if minimal pain could be done for me. I said please give I need a moment as i was in so much pain but they continued. As transport is now so limited it’s sad to see the way they have to work through with rushing with patients and having limited facilities to take care of patients in the best way. Especially the very vulnerable people. I hope the nhs gets better as soon as possible.

Review titled Amazing Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by James O'Brien - Posted on 30 September 2024
I had a stroke in December 22 and, when released from the hospital in Venice, I was in the care of Kingston Hospital. The hospital care team were in touch the same week I returned and took over all the therapy that I needed for recovery after the stroke. Speech, cognitive and Physical therapy was outstanding. Every day for 8 weeks I had some kind of treatment and the contact from hospital was on an almost twice weekly basis. I had a problem with eye retina clots and the eye unit was exceptional with their treatment. I feel my recovery is so strong now, because of the incredible treatment I have received from Kingston Hospital that I am now back on the golf course twice a week and running in the Park runs at weekends. My whole family is constantly praising the attention I have had from Kingston and I would like to thank all the superb staff that have looked after me including the Cardiology, Stroke and eye unit at the hospital. I have also received a telephone appointment today (30/09/24) from my new Stroke consultant, just going over all the treatment that he is happy with. Thanks again from one very "healthy and happy" patient.

Review titled Fast and efficient

Had a sprained ankle from skiing. Phoned 111 who booked me an appointment at the clinic. Turn up to A&E and receptionist says that they don’t have appointments! Anyhow- triage was efficient and I was sent hobbling to the Urgent Care department. Sat in a crowded waiting room for 25 mins but was then called to see a wonderful nurse. She was pleasant, chatty, helpful and reassuring. Was quickly sent to get an X-ray and was in and out within 10 mins. The nurse then met me on the way back in, showed me the X-ray straight away and explained I had a small fracture. She gave me options, lots of good quality advice and then sent me on my way with a prescription for anti inflammatories. Could not have asked for a better service. I was so surprised giving all the negativity surrounding the NHS. However the Hospital Boots Pharmacy…. 1.30 hours for 1/2 a prescription (they only gave me half the anti inflammatories I was prescribed due to”hospital policy”) was not as efficient! Overall, great job Kingston Hospital- much thanks. M

Review titled Thanks to all for excellent service and treatment

I was suffering a shivering fit. My wife phoned 111 for advice and the call was picked up by a pleasant person. After speaking to me she decided to request an ambulance which arrived within several minutes. The 3 paramedics provided checked me very thoroughly and decided to take me to hospital. On arrival at Kingston A&E I was again checked and further test, bloods and x-ray taken. Fluids and antibiotics were administered by drip. The pleasant nurse also provided myself and my wife with tea. The registrar discharged me later that evening. Everyone who dealt with me were very professional, comforting and caring. They ensured we knew exactly what was being done, both my wife and I would like to send a massive thank you to everyone involved from 111, the paramedics, and all the hospital staff.

Review titled Fantastic treatment

Having suffered with knee pain for a long time and my local hospital doing next to nothing about it I was referred to Kingston. All I can say is what a contrast. From my initial consultation with a rheumatologist who then referred me to Orthopedics, the service has been exemplary. All staff have been friendly and informative and timing has been beyond any expectation, especially given the continuing impact of covid on nhs services. I am so grateful to have been able to acess the quality care at this hospital. Having been recently advised I would need a cortisone injection which on an urgent referral was about 3 months I was so surprised to have received the injection in under 2 weeks. The difference this has made already is amazing.

Shoulder injury. Everyone from reception to radiography(?) was friendly, informative, relaxed and helpful. I was in and out in under 2hrs. The painkillers and exercises ensure I'll be back to work soon. A faultless service. Many thanks.
