Review titled Lovely medical team/rude receptionist.
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2024
I went to minor injuries this morning with my 2 children under 5. It was my first experience going, with the recommendation of 111. I had to bring my baby along whilst getting my 4 year old seen. All that being said, I was worried about my child and nervous to be sat for a long time with 2 little kids in a small public place. I went up to the reception desk, politely greeted the receptionist and said we had been advised to come here by 111 and that they had sent the referral through. The receptionist just started at me like muck, and bluntly said ‘what’s the problem?’, the whole check in service she was rude, blunt and totally unpersonable. From my perception, I didn’t know what to do, where to go and had 2 young children in tow, one of which needed medical attention. I expected so much more from a service that deals with people who are experiencing something to me. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, the least I expected was someone to be kind and not treat me like an idiot. As most you would assume someone in that role would be kind, interacting with the public and offer somewhat of a calming and re-assuring persona. The rest of my experience was fine, it was quicker than I expected and the team were so thoughtful and kind to my daughter. It was a shame we were welcomed and booked in this way, it honestly just made me want to cry since it was already a pretty stressful time. You don’t normally go to minor injuries for a fun reason. I expected the staff to be more understanding.

Review titled Physiotherapy & Hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by J Lloyd - Posted on 24 April 2024
Liskeard Hospital is a fantastic facility. The hospital is clean and pleasant, the atmosphere is calm, and the staff are courteous and communicative. I've just had a physiotherapy appointment there today. My experience of this kind of treatment elsewhere in the UK has been dire. The practitioner I saw today was excellent and personable and he seems to be compassionate and supportive. I have a further appointment booked for two weeks time and I have every faith in the treatment plan. I firmly believe that there will be some improvement in that time and a resolution to my problem is in sight. Thank you Liskeard Community Hospital

Review titled Poor physiotherapy receptionist skills
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The main receptionist who answered the phone initially was lovely. I was put through to physiotherapy and I can only say it must have been a bad day for her and she transferred all her misery/rudeness down the phone to me. Not a pleasant experience. It has never happened in the past. Usually everyone is very caring and helpful.

Review titled Awesome service …..
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I hobbled into the Minor Injuries Unit with an ankle injury. Staff were very friendly, engaging and empathetic. After a quick triage, I was wheeled into X Ray, back to the unit and advised it was not broken. I was given verbal and printed advice and I left. From the time of arrival to leaving was a total of 25mins!!!! Beat that!!! So proud of you all there and thank you so much for your great friendly service!!

Review titled Very caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Garry Lambert - Posted on 03 March 2023
My brother who is deaf and dumb and has cerebral palsy was admitted to Liskeard Hospital following a stroke. The nurses could not have been more caring and patient especially given the obvious communication problems. Thanks so much for showing so much compassion and understanding.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience of care that your brother has received at Liskeard Community hospital. It is wonderful to read that your brothers experience was positive and that you too saw the compassion and care given by the nurses as having a loved one in hospital with additional needs can be challenging as a carer/relative. I have passed your comments onto the matron and the ward sisters at Liskeard who have passed this onto there staff. The staff really appreciate your comments. Best wishes Becky lewis Patient Experience Officer
