  1. Review titled Totally incredible

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had an accident at stevenage railway station as I was trying to change trains to get home. Taken to Lister Hospital. From the start, every single member of staff I met were completely dedicated to the patients. This starts right from the cleaners, porters up through all the different positions within the hospital, the nurses, doctors, they are incredible people who do not get enough recognition for their sheer dedication and determination. I was blessed to be brought to such a hospital as this and have requested, I continue my treatment there until recovery no matter the distance because I trust them completely with my life. To say the words thank you to them all, they certainly are Not! enough. I certainly will make the trip back to continue treatment there and to keep reminding them of just how wonderful they all are.

  2. Review titled Waiting time too long

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I went to the yellow zone for an outpatient appointment. Told my doctor was gonna be 10 minutes late. Surely that was going to be okay, right? Of course not. Was sat there waiting for over an hour, and even then, the doc didn't show up. The appointment I had was meant to be short... it took them 20 minutes longer. Will definitely be switching hospitals.

  3. Review titled Amazing staff!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We attended children’s A&E on 01/09/2024, we arrived at around 10:15pm and were discharged at around 12:15am. Our reason for visiting was that my son had cracked his head open. My son is an autistic, non verbal child who does not like to be touched. The staff working that night were absolutely amazing with him. They showed a great level of patience and gave him a lot of comfort whilst he was having his cut glued shut. I have visited lister hospital many times and for various different reasons but the staff that were working that night, went above and beyond massively!! Taking an autistic child into a&e is never easy but thanks to the staff I didn’t feel on edge or stressed at all throughout our entire visit. Thank you again to the amazing staff. I massively appreciate everything that they did.

Just wanted to thank staff in the Bancroft Clinic yesterday for being so very, kind, gentle and patient with my mum during a hysteroscopy. She has significant mobility issues and you really made, what could have been quite a traumatic experience for her, stress free and comfortable. Just wanted to thank you for your kindness and the great job you do. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Appointment system (outpatients)

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Couldn’t change appt online as suggested so had to call the number on the letter. Over 1 hour on hold then get told that I needed to call cardiology directly to change the appointment. The system is a joke.

Thank you to AMU and Straithmore Ward staff who were so caring, kind and diligent in looking after my father. We could not fault the support, patience and understanding my dad received and we are so grateful for your professionalism and expertise. While the NHS is under immense pressure, you were a wonderful example of this deeply caring profession. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Disgusting service

Rated 1 star out of 5

The Lister Hospital is in a dire state. On Tuesday, 10th September 2024, I experienced appalling service. After being urgently referred by my local GP to the eye clinic, I received a call from the receptionist, who informed me that no doctors were available to see me that day and that I could only have an appointment in two days. Despite stressing the urgency of my situation, the receptionist showed no concern and instead suggested I visit the urgent eye clinic, which is open until 7:30pm. Upon my arrival, I was told that the staff were all on lunch and wouldn’t be back until 1:30 pm—a detail the receptionist failed to mention. After waiting, I was eventually seen by a triage nurse who displayed no personality, sympathy, or care. The nurse conducted a brief assessment, including reading letters from a distance, taking my blood pressure, and an eye pressure test. I was then told that my subconjunctival hemorrhage was normal and advised to take paracetamol for the pain I was experiencing, along with a suggestion that I’m probably not resting enough. Since then, my condition has worryingly worsened, and today, my appointment was canceled because the doctor is off sick. My new appointment isn’t for another week! At no point did the nurse listen to my concerns or acknowledge the frequency of my symptoms. The entire experience left me feeling that the staff at Lister Hospital are completely indifferent and lack any compassion. This, unfortunately, reflects the current state of the NHS at Lister—utterly uninterested in helping those in need.

  8. Review titled Really needs to improve

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Dominic Cox - Posted on 18 September 2024

I received a text message giving me a telephone appointment time of 13:00. I made arrangements so that I would be free to receive the call at the appointment time. The next day I got a letter telling me that if the appointment is in the afternoon I may be called between 1.30pm and 6.30pm. So I now have to make further arrangements to accommodate this. The letter states that I can change the appointment online at enherts-trdotnhsdotuk "and follow the link". No indication of which link. The only choice which seems relevant is 'Change or cancel my appointment' then 'E-Referral Service (Ers) for new appointments' but I need a booking reference number and a password or access code which I don't have. The other option - the Patient Hub - is not operational yet. (Ers would be in capitals, but that's not allowed!) So I tried calling the number given. That too gives the message that I can change my appointment online. Otherwise I'm twentieth in the the queue! Please can you make this easy to use; keep your information accurate, up-to-date and helpful instead of inaccurate and vague. Why when I type in wwwdottellusmoredotorgdotuk do I get a list of choices from Google, not a website for the url (url would be in capitals, but that's not allowed!)That? These services are aimed at people who are ill and really don't need any extra stress. Does anyone who sends out these letters actually try the urls to see that they perform as expected? (url would be in capitals, but that's not allowed!)

  9. Review titled Contacting the Cardiology Department

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Frank Bowron - Posted on 23 September 2024

The cardiology department is very good, but unfortunately, if you need to contact them, this is impossible. The phone system redirects you to another number - 01438284444 - but after half an hour in the queue they answer by saying you have to call Cardiology and cut you off.
