Review titled Rude Orthopedics Outpatients experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2024
To try to avoid the wait of being number 30 in the queue and at the suggestion of the recorded message I tried to change an orthopedics appointment online to bring it forward at the request of my physiotherapist. I didn't know I couldn't bring an appointment forward at this stage and this wasn't clear on the website. I ended up cancelling the appointment in error. I contacted the appointments line and waited 1 hour 15 minutes to speak to someone. The person I spoke to seemed more interested in chatting to the person next to her and was finding something extremely funny. I understand why she couldn't help me bring an appointment forward, however, when I commented I had waited an hour and a quarter to get nowhere, their response was "well you were the one that cancelled the appointment". I did so in error and to try to avoid the long wait to get through to an operator which I had explained. Some understanding in the position I was in especially knowing the queue I had been in to speak to someone would not have gone amiss! I usually find all the operators more than understanding and helpful in their responses so was disappointed in the service I received on this occasion.

Review titled Awful experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

My mum had broken her foot in 2 places and we got sent to Lister from QE2. When we got to Lister we were walking around for two hours and being told to go to one department and then being told to go to another with no help on where to go. No one knew or helped us where to go when staff saw I was carrying my mum and couldn’t find a wheel chair. This hospital needs some serious improvement on their communication skills. No one was helpful or kind when I was clearly carrying my mum who was in a lot of pain.

I had a gastroscopy in the endoscopy unit today and wanted to thank all the staff for their caring, professional attitude. I was very nervous but everyone put me at my ease. Thank you all you are a credit to the NHS.

Review titled "Nil Point" for admin
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Paul Williamson - Posted on 15 December 2023
My 12 October appointment, made by text only, was cancelled by phone a few days before. The alternative date offered was not acceptable. You would get back to me, you said. You didn't, so I contacted my helpful MacMillan point of contact on 1 December. An appointment for 14 December arrived, by text (from QE2), on 7 December. A paper confirmation letter, dated 6 December, arrived on 15 December, 1 day after the appointment. What's the point? If you can't get paperwork out on time, don't bother.

Review titled Excellent, professional and pleasant service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My sister, visiting from Scotland, had been poorly for 2 weeks with a truly dreadful hacking cough. This morning she was worse and 111 said we should go to A &E. The service, despite the department being very busy, was friendly, rapid and efficient. She saw a triage nurse, then a doctor, another nurse, had an xrays and bloods taken. In other words, a really thorough examination and help with breathing and then appropriate medication dispensed. Very helpful as by now it was 4pm on a Saturday. Our wonderful NHS at its very best. Thank you all at Lister.

My husband underwent kidney surgery on the 27th December 2023. We would like to thank the urology surgical team for the excellent treatment that he received. It was first class in every way. We would also like to thank the nursing staff who took good care of him post-surgery. Thankyou so much.

Review titled Kindness and consideration
Rated 5 stars out of 5

The staff in the hysteroscopy unit were really welcoming, kind, friendly and also maintained patient dignity. I could not fault them in their care of me throughout the procedure and afterwards. However, the consultant expected me to have brought someone with me so that I had support for hearing the outcome of the investigation. I had come alone because that was what the letter had said I should do. The letters don't seem to have been reviewed/revised since the COVID restrictions were relaxed, which is unhelpful.

My recent visit at the hysteroscopy clinic was first class. All the staff treated me with dignity and respect and most of all kindness. I can’t thank them enough. The NHS is working under some very challenging times and yet they remain professional and caring
