    I am writing this message about my experience with Liverpool women hospitals midwives - the ones that take care of the baby and mom on their first days together. I had a really had a bad experience with them one morning in June and with the night shift staff. It is my first time being a mom and my first time breastfeeding. I had one midwife who came to me at night on Thursday because my baby was crying so much and I don’t know how to calm him down. They took my baby off me in a way I didn't like and shouted at me that I was breastfeeding in wrong position, suggesting that I didn’t understand English. That made me so sad and I really was so tired because I hadn’t slept from the day I give birth as the other midwives when I asked for pain relief didn't come back for up to 2 hours. Also they were so rude with my husband, telling him we will not open the door for you if you go outside even for toilet but he needs to stay with me. We have no family here and I am so tired, that was really rude and a shame. I will never forget what happened for me in my last day in hospital and first time as mom.

    I would like to say how good both the consultant and anaesthetist were during my op. They explained the whole process very clearly, and checked me before and after the op. The personal 'bedside manner' of the consultant was excellent, included my partner for his opinion as well. Further to this everyone I encountered was extremely helpful. I feel very comfortable about going back for any issues. Thank you team.

    I arrived feeling apprehensive and down . I can honestly say every single member of team are amazing. So friendly and supportive and spoke to me on my level Well done 👏 In my view, this is how all hospitals should be run . Thanks a million.

    The staff at the ambulatory unit were amazing and caring. All the procedure was explained very clearly. I was apprehensive about all the reports about hospital but the care I received has been beyond my expectation. Hope the specialists keep up with the kind of care given by their team in the department.

    i give birth in this place and i ask to talk to someone and the would not get them for me and i come out black and blue of them and when i ask them i need to talk to them she would not get them for me at all this is not good at all when i need them to see this the just didnt come to me and then send me house

    I had to get a Loop electrosurgical excision procedure done, and the three women who were in the room with me were absolutely wonderful! They took great care of me and ensured I was always comfortable and free from any pain. I wish I could write their names down here, because they all deserve to be known. My procedure went really well and quicker than expected, and it was almost painless! A little sting when they injected local anaethetic, but after that it was a breeze. They kept me happy and distracted during the procedure. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you to all of the staff who works there, we all appreciate you!

    I visited the colposcopy unit at Fazakerley the staff were brilliant. I arranged before my visit to have gas and air. I had a polyp removed from my cervix the staff were so reassuring I was so stressed about the procedure but they literally held my hand all the way I was in and out in minutes and home before I knew it. Please don't be scared to speak up this was the second time I tried the procedure and the gas and air really helped. Take music with you it helps and they are so lovely made a horrendous procedure for me mentally alot easier so keep up the good work.

    I felt welcomed, loved and respected. people were amazing to me!my baby was born in December, the doctor who delivered the baby was extremely kind to me and did an excellent job. my baby was born by cesarean section and everything went very well. great job. I just have to thank for this hospital and for the professionals who helped me on this journey, you areblessed!

    Referred to the Hewitt in November 2021, had some investigations and finally started treatment November 2022 - a long wait but do not blame the clinic staff for this, likely just due to sheer volume of patients unfortunately. Had egg collection in November and was very well looked after and reassured by all the staff. Unfortunately I developed OHSS and on the day of my planned embryo transfer 5 days later and after a scan showed swollen ovaries and free fluid in my pelvis they advised me to cancel the transfer and freeze all embryos until I was well again. I was so upset and disappointed but the staff couldn’t have been more caring and supportive and it was clear they had my best interests at heart. We had a consultation to plan our FET cycle a few weeks later and fast forward to January we started treatment and had our frozen transfer. Again despite staff clearly being very busy and working hard I was very well looked after on the day. 11 days later we got our first ever positive pregnancy test and I am now 10 weeks and have been discharged, with one embryo in the freezer if we want to use it in future. We couldn’t be more grateful to the clinic and all the staff for their excellent care and for making our dreams come true.

  10. Review titled Ectopic pregnancy experience

    In February, I was experiencing severe pain around my pelvis area. At the time I was 9 weeks pregnant and had my first midwife appointment. My husband rushed me to the Women’s Hospital where the nurses took a urine sample and I was told to wait in the quiet room in the Emergency Neonatal section. My husband was told to wait outside. I made it clear to the nurses that I felt trapped in the quiet room with the door closed and locked from the outside, and please could I keep it open but was told no. I was then seen around 4 hours later. The doctor did an external and internal examination; said they were not sure – at no time did they mention the word ectopic pregnancy to me – suggested it could be constipation and booked me in for a scan at 3pm the next day and told me to come with a full bladder. We arrived at the hospital for my scan the next day, the nurse told me to empty my bladder, I tried to explain to them that the doctor the night before had told me to come in with a full bladder but the nurse kept repeating it needed to be empty with no real explanation. Naturally, I was completely overwhelmed and confused. Once the scan began, the same nurse simply looked at me and announced, there is no pregnancy in here, how many weeks did you say you were? I am honestly so traumatised by this specific moment and cannot get over the lack of compassion, understanding and possible explanation from this nurse. I then remained being scanned for around 20 mins with the Sonographer coming in to check. The Sonographer was lovely and caring and asked me if anyone had gone through what this could possibly be and had I heard of an ectopic pregnancy before (I had not). I was then rushed to surgery within the hour as the pregnancy had erupted and there was around 300ml of blood in my pelvis. They removed the left fallopian tube. I was very well looked after and cared for over the next 24 hours. As I was due to leave the hospital, a nurse went through my notes and procedure with me. They asked if I would like to be contacted by the Honeysuckle team for aftercare and support, I said that I did and left the hospital with my husband. I was not contacted by anyone in the immediate weeks that followed, nor in the nine months that have now passed, regarding any sort of support or help through a very traumatic experience. What did happen over the next few months however is outlined below. Around 4 weeks after surgery, I noticed my belly button seemed to have an infection. I called my GP who saw a photograph and wondered why I would have an infection in my belly button during my first trimester. I had to explain to them that I was no longer pregnant. For some reason, my GP notes had not been updated. Following this, my husband sent an email to PALS outlining our experience and suggesting we needed some support. The response he got was, Please get your wife to give us a call. I was not in any sort of state to pick the phone up and call. I did not hear a thing from the hospital or the Honeysuckle team. Myself and my partner found the months that followed very tough to process what had happened and unsure where to turn for support. My husband sent another email to PALS to which he received no response this time. Fast forward to August, I received a phone call from a midwife asking me why I hadn’t turned up for my 20-week scan. I honestly could not believe what was happening. I then had to explain everything to them. This is now the second medical professional that was unaware of my situation. The midwife did some digging and found out that my notes from the antenatal A&E department hadn’t been updated to the Gynecologist and Obstetricians department. They were very helpful and supportive and they got all my notes updated. The midwife also asked PALS to give me a call. A few days later, they called and briefly told me someone from Honeysuckle would be in touch. Five weeks passed and I still hadn’t heard a thing from PALS or Honeysuckle. I left an answering machine message to let them know. I then received a call from the next day saying Honeysuckle would be in touch. I received a call early October but unfortunately the nurse hadn’t opened my file before the call so yet again, I had to endure discussing my horrendous journey and experience. The nurse was extremely apologetic, they couldn’t understand why I had, in their words, slipped through the system and why I didn’t have a timeline of both mental and physical aftercare. They told me I should have been contacted and should have been invited back into the Women’s Hospital to see how I was getting on. We chatted about where to go from here, they mentioned some group support sessions as well as one to one counselling. They told me they would get in touch with somebody at a support group and ask them to give me a call. We are now in November, and I still haven’t received a call or email from the support group or a check in from Honeysuckle. I am now at a complete loss and feel I am past the point of support for pregnancy loss, I don’t even know what to expect from pregnancy loss support or what it should look like. I now spend my days wondering why I slipped through the system and why my notes were not updated by the relevant department and why, when I was struggling most, I was not aware of the support out there for my husband and I.
