Review titled Bloods clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 June 2024
I read the reviews and expected a nightmare. It was great! Ok there was a queue of about 20 people waiting outside 15 minutes before it opened but we just took a ticket when we entered. In 30 minutes they had already seen about 15 people. I waited less than an hour for a walk in appointment for my bloods. Super fast and the staff were lovely.

Review titled Bloods Clinic Waiting Shambles
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2024
There is little point in attempting to attend for a blood test unless you are prepared to wait - outside if it's an 08:30 clinic - at least around 45 minutes until opening time. The receptionist simply gives out tickets until she has used up all of the ones allocated for that day's clinic and everyone else is simply turned away. Even a little reseach suggets that this situation has existed for some considerable time so is highly likely to remain for the forseeable future. I've tried more than once. I won't be trying again.

Review titled Terrible reception service
Rated 1 star out of 5

On attending the blood clinic I was informed by the receptionist to join the queue. The premise of which I fully expected. On viewing a full waiting room I enquired as to how I was meant to know where I was in the queue, the receptionist was adamant that he would only be putting the tickets out at 1pm, and my place in the queue was down to me remembering who had arrived before me. Without my crystal ball, this is an impossible concept for a functioning professional, not to mention patients who may have any degree of cognitive decline. On the release of the tickets chaos ensued causing distress for a number of elderly patients. Please remove your delusions of grandeur as the ticket holder and allow common sense to prevail, put the tickets on the dispenser before the clinic starts!! I sympathise with vulnerable patients who have to endure this needless stress on a regular basis. I hope some decency prevails.

Review titled Blood Clinic Chaos

Dangerous method of issuing tickets for the blood test. You have changed the method of selecting the order of being seen again. We used to just collect the tickets. Then we were told to sit in set seats and we went in as the order of sitting. Now we are back to using the ticket machine (I attended on11/12/23.) But the ticket machine had no tickets till 5 mins before start time even though the tickets were available but could not be put in the dispenser till the nurse arrived . So you would have had 23 patients all pushing to get the earlier tickets. Fortunately a helpful gentleman wrote out numbers on pieces of paper so everyone new the order to get the “official” tickets!! There are several ways you could ensure you do not have too many people waiting. This is not one of them.

Review titled Waiting Times for blood clinic
Rated 2 stars out of 5

My husband and I both need, at times, the blood clinic. As we are in our late 70's we cannot arrive at a very early time in the mornings, especially in Winter, to queue for the am blood clinics to ensure we get in. When we go to the Monday pm one we feel we have to be there at the latest, 11.45 to ensure we get a number. Improvement is needed on a desperate basis.

Review titled Blood Clinic needs reorganising.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Richard Mark Jones - Posted on 05 April 2023
My surgery want me to have a blood test. The information I was given says the Longridge Blood Clinic is open between 8.45 and 11.30am on a Weds. Today I turned up at 10am to find the clinic is full and to come back another day. This is the third time I have visited well within the published opening times to be turned away. Please move to a simple appointment system rather than this first come first served approach. I'm fortunate I am retired and have a car, but there are others who have to make round trips on the bus, or have to take time off work. The current system is very unsatisfactory.

Absolutely Ridiculous. Arrived 30 mins after blood test clinic started to be told, no more availability - it didn’t finish for another 2 hours. As they know how busy they are and this has obviously been going on for a long time why have they not sorted out this problem and got more nurses. Was told I could go to another clinic but as this is my local one, why should I? I doubt anyone of any importance will read, let alone react to this review.

Review titled Blood clinic “bun fight” clearly unacceptable
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Michelle Kaye - Posted on 08 February 2023
I attended the blood clinic on Monday 6/2/23 and was turned away, half an hour into the clinic time because there were too many people waiting. I attended again today, making sure to turn up early. I arrived at 8.30 for a clinic that started at 8.45 and took one of the last tickets. I believe there had been people waiting outside for an hour prior to the doors opening at 8.30. I was eventually seen after a wait of 2 and a half hours. The staff were excellent and the waiting area warm and clean, but unless one is prepared to give up a considerable amount of time it is impossible to get a blood test done in Longridge. I suffer from Long Covid and tire easily. My wait this morning has had a detrimental effect on my health. But I had no alternative but to sit and wait. During my wait a large number of other people came to the reception desk and were turned away and told to attend early for the next clinic two days later. For several of them, like myself, it was their second or third time of trying to get a test done. Previously there had been 2 nurses taking bloods. Now there is only one (and one very hassled receptionist). Clearly this situation is unacceptable.

Review titled Blood clinic service needs an urgent review
Rated 1 star out of 5

The Blood Clinic is a joke. Currently there is a queue of about 20 people waiting outside the locked hospital. The clinic opens at 8.30am I arrived at 08.10am. Some are elderly and some people with mobility issues. I decided not to queue as it was -0.5c as I have mobility issues myself. So now I’m back waiting in my car. The waiting area is full and compact, people say next to each other, a haven for the spread of infections. Told I will be waiting over an hour just for bloods to be taken. This is unacceptable and need to be reviewed. Either more phlebotomists or/and seen by appointments.
