  1. Review titled Uncaring and appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had to bring my son in with extreme abdominal pain, he was in agony. Ambulance quoted 9 hour wait. He was crying in agony for 3 hours alongside people who had come in with a sore throat. I tried to explain the pain he was in to the receptionist and told take paracetamol. This is what the nhs has come to. 3rd world service.

  2. Review titled Sensational surgical team for unplanned c-section

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lucy Wilsher - Posted on 11 November 2024

You would think that an emergency c-section for the delivery of my son, after a long failed induction process would be stressful and traumatic, however the surgical and maternity team at this hospital were so brilliant that I came out wanting to do it all over again. I enjoyed surgery/and my spinal block anaesthetic which was what I feared the most. In hospital it can be so scary when you don’t understand what’s happening but our surgical team in the delivery suite offered us so much support and information at each step of the journey that we were able to relax and put our full trust in the team to delivery our baby boy safely and keep me safe. The surgery itself couldn’t have gone better, the spinal block I received and was so worried about was painless and administered in such a way that I didn’t feel nervous at all. My baby had a very smooth entry into the world, and my partner had a lovely experience with the surgeons inviting him into the whole process and being careful to guide him around the room so he wouldn’t see what he didn’t want to see. I lost hardly any blood (only 300mls for major surgery) which is incredible, and my recovery so far has been unbelievably smooth, zero complications and I love my new postpartum body. Thank you a million times over to my team, I had a very good experience with you and I’d recommend this hospital to anyone who was to give birth. I only wish I could name all of the surgical team and maternity care team who looked after me in this review to give them full credit. Lots of love, from me my partner and my beautiful new son.

  3. Review titled Parking

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have never been so stressed about parking in my life. It was so stressful I actually had a panic attack. Never had one before in my life. It was awful. Take the money and don't provide a service. You should be ashamed

  5. Review titled So impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We attended the Luton and Dunstable today as my son had planned surgery. We were so impressed with every element of the visit. It was a clean, calm environment, really well laid out and organised. Every member of staff was friendly, professional and considerate. Thank you for making a stressful event far less stressful for a very anxious child.

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had to admit my 93 year old father in the middle of the night for a urinary problem. Starting from the ambulance crew to the accident and emergency professionals on duty ( from health care assistant to the nurses and medical staff were so prompt to help us that increased my respect for NHS even more. My father was promptly transferred to the emergency surgical unit where he was attended by the urology registrar immediately and received effective treatment. The sister in charge and the health care assistant attending to my father were diligent, approachable and professional . In the morning, despite being very busy the urology team did the definitive treatment for him in the one stop ward . My father came home within 24 hours of admission and was so relieved. I am very grateful to all the staff for extra ordinary care .

  7. Review titled Terrible

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 October 2024

My daughter is currently in 1 of your wards, I wish I could get her transferred. I have never seen such poor levels of care at any hospital anywhere, as at the L&D. She asks for help, only to be told that they are on their rounds, doing handover, or anything other than care for a patient, I have been on the phone, listening, at the time. She was left for over 90 minutes, for pain relief, which was supposed to be given every 2 hrs. She asked for help with her storma, the contents need measuring for output, and was left sitting in the contents, when it leaked over her and her bed. The level of care she is receiving is awful. If they are unable to do the job they are paid for, please transfer her. She has phoned me, in tears, so many times, it’s so heartbreaking to listen to her. I have tried phoning the ward, and waited nearly 50 minutes, without an answer. I even called whilst standing in front of the desk, listening to the phone ringing, and no one would answer it. I’ve now learnt to call the phone at the nurses station, it gets answered. I don’t want special treatment for my daughter, just basic care, and some communication too would be nice, not just turning the call button off, and the door shutting. That said, there are some great members of staff there too,

Thank you to the A&E, and SDEC staff. I was seen on Sunday morning, triaged quickly and then moved to SDEC where they were patient and gave me all the necessary tests. The doctors and nurses were all very nice and I was out of there before lunch, with answers! Thank you :)
