  1. Review titled Good experience despite a long wait

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2023

Despite a long wait in a&e we had a generally positive experience, they were really busy when we attended on a Friday evening with a minor concern for our baby after getting advice from 111. All the staff we encountered were friendly and supportive; one nurse in particular was very helpful and moved us from the main waiting room into the children's waiting room (with facilities such as baby change and a feeding area). We didn't need any intervention for our baby, but were never made to feel like we shouldn't have attended. The whole time spent there was more than 4 hours, but credit to the staff for their compassionate care.

  2. Review titled Top marks for Macc again

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was referred through Sdec (Same Day Emergency Care) following a knee injury. There was a delay getting an appointment for MRI scan due to a backlog but the admin team rang me personally to arrange it. I had my scan Wednesday with no waiting. Staff were pleasant and reassuring, making the scan almost relaxing. My follow up appointment at orthopedic clinic was arranged for the following day. The scan results were ready with notes attached ready for my appointment. The clinic was running late but we were informed of this and the delay was only half an hour, which was fine. The doctor showed me my scan and the notes and explained in them detail outlining what the problem was and how we were going to resolve it. I felt that he involved me in the process in a kind but professional way. Generally speaking this is the kind of experience I have come to expect at Mac Hospital. Well done

  3. Review titled Terrible, disfuctional and disgraceful.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I'm astounded at the reviews (propaganda) on here. I observed the general practice of this department for 14 hours - and it was nothing short of disgusting. My Father needed an Xray, referred by his Doctor. It took 7 hours for any kind of action on the Xray and a futher 7 hours for any Consultation, no updates, staff don't seem to know what they're doing. The whole department is a rudderless ship and the Management, in my opinion should be sacked. I will say, there were 3 - 4 Female staff who were working their hearts out. They had been working solidly for the 14 hours I was there and had probably been there for al least 4 or 5 hours before I arrived and they really did put the absent 'Management' to shame. I reaaly do believe that the NHS for all it's rainbows and diversity need to concentrate on what their job is.

  4. Review titled Amazing treatment, care, thoughtfulness

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I arrived from overseas with a DVT and I just wanted to say that from the moment I walked in to Macc A & E, every member of staff treated me so kindly and professionally. Eventhough they were so busy at that time of year I feel I was really looked after and they made sure I was sorted by the time I left that day. I can't remember what the place is called but after the wonderful guy took my blood, who was so reassuring that he helped me stay calm, I could then get to go on a recliner and relax and was brought soup and sandwich and a cup of tea. All the staff in this department were so caring. The guy that took my scan on my leg was amazing, caring and thorough. And the consultant who talked to me at the end was straight to the point, clear and full of humanity. I have returned overseas and have gone on about the staff at Macc hospital alot! Thank you guys for everything you do and the way you treat people with such humanity.

Admitted through A&E and can’t fault the lovely staff who work on Ward 1. Genuinely caring and hard working. Understanding group of healthcare professionals.

  6. Review titled Kind and caring staff overall .

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2022

a relative went via A & E recently , the paramedics were very good and kind and have a very thorough handover to the team . It was very difficult day and they made it less so . The team and A & E were over all good but there was some miscommunication between team members -which led to mixed messages re treatments but to be fair they extremely busy … but that added some further emotional distress that could have been avoided . They were overall very good though .

  7. Review titled Thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Amy Barton - Posted on 08 December 2022

I recently rushed my young daughter to A&E after she was suddenly complained of terrible abdominal pain. The treatment we received from the minute we arrived was nothing short of amazing! The receptionist and triage nurse were very kind, and kept us updated with wait times, luckily the wait wasn't too long to see the doctor who gave his suspected diagnosis. He spoke not only to me but explained everything to my daughter in a way she understood and eased all her anxiety and treated us both with respect and kindness and kept us updated as to what would happen next and when and generally went out of his way to keep her comfortable whilst we waited for a bed on the children's ward. On arrival at the children's ward, again every member of staff from the phenomenal nurses, to HCAs, cleaners, the wonderful play therapist made our 3 day stay far less scary for my daughter and I. My daughter required surgery which she was terrified of but all staff made sure that I was able to stay with her every moment up until surgery, the anesthesiology team were so kind and friendly towards my daughter, putting her worries at ease and really helping her not to be scared, and myself as I have never been in that situation before, I can't thank them enough for that. The recovery nurse who stayed by my daughter's side until I was able to see her after surgery making sure she was never alone also showed such kindness and was so supportive. My daughter was allowed to administer her own medication where possible and was given the opportunity to feel in control wherever possible which was very important to her and really helped her to feel less nervous, she was provided with a wheelchair so she could leave the ward to visit her sister and auntie in the cafe each day as visiting is limited on the ward. Every staff member we encountered during our experience was fantastic and really don't get the recognition they deserve! Thank you for looking after us!

Helpful empathetic staff. Everyone worked hard to ensure care was given as quickly as possible. Care given was thorough with good communication and advice. All in all bearing in mind circumstances an excellent efficient service. All care givers should be praised and made to feel proud in a job well done. Thank you for taking such good care of my daughter...

  9. Review titled Exceptional care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Colonoscopies can be quite a stressful thought, more so as my partner died a few months ago making hospital visits very daunting, but the whole team Receptionists, Nurses and the Consultant were so caring. I felt safe and protected. Our NHS is incredible the compassion, sometimes under very difficult situations is extraordinary. Dedicated people who want to help others. Thank you

  10. Review titled Considerate Professional Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hinna Abid - Posted on 23 December 2022

I was referred to the Rapid Access Breast Surgery Clinic on an urgent two week notice. Upon knowing that I was going to travel out of country, the staff managed to arrange an appointment, before I left the country. My examination, mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy took a total of 3-4 hours, but was done in an excellent manner and dealt with me very professionally, yet in a caring and empathetic manner. What really moved me and motivated me to write this review is the fact that the staff was considerate to share the normal biopsy results with me, as soon as possible, and before the Christmas and New Year break, which really touched me. They ensured that I am not kept waiting in anticipation and did everything in their power to give me peace of mind before the break. Thank you very much for this. Much appreciated.
