Review titled Very positive experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Janet A - Posted on 23 October 2024
I needed to use the service as I had an accident whilst visiting the area. From entering the unit to leaving, I was treated with courtesy and respect, firstly by the friendly receptionist and later by the very kind and reassuring doctor who tended to my injury. Whilst waiting to be seen, I was also impressed by the receptionist on the outpatients desk , I heard her dealing with people on the phone, and also in person , who needed redirecting to other departments. Nothing was too much trouble. My whole experience took less than an hour, from 10.00 am to 11.00am approx. (I’m sure it might be longer in busy periods. ) My injury is starting to heal, I am confident that all will be well thanks to the prompt and professional actions of the unit. I am grateful to this unit and would like to thank everyone concerned.

Review titled Generally good experience

A good hospital, all the staff I spoke with were very friendly and the procedure I had was straightforward, so I can't fault that, but just the one nurse who treated me was pretty rude and dismissive. Treat people the way you would like to be treated, how is that difficult? I'd understand if it was a busy day but there were barely any patients at all.

Review titled All staff had left early
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Saff Bloom - Posted on 19 April 2024
I went to the clinic at 745pm all staff were outside with coats and bags. It clearly states on the internet that the closing time is 8pm. When asking the staff they were nothing but rude and arrogant and categorically wrong like not quickly look in my eye. I know for a fact it’s the staff that should have been working as the older aged woman has seen us on numerous occasions. Extremely upset with this as I cannot drive to get to York with a swollen eye that I can’t see out of.

Had to attend for minor problem on leg. Was seen well before my appointment time by lovely doctor. I was put at ease and referred for further treatment which happened very quickly. Free parking was a bonus.

Review titled Outstanding care given
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jennie Park - Posted on 23 September 2023
My daughter had come home as she had a tonsillectomy two weeks prior. She was worried it wasn’t healing correctly and was very anxious so we went to urgent care. The receptionist was really nice and friendly. We only had a short wait. The person we saw was lovely, so reassuring and easy to talk to. My daughter has had bad experiences at other hospitals and is always worried she is wasting their time but she was treated so well and he was so kind to her. My son was also seen a week prior with a twisted knee and my small Grandsons have both had to attend urgent care in the past when ill and they all had really positive experiences. We are often quick to leave negative feedback but not so quick to leave positive. So I just wanted to say thank you so much for such good service.

Review titled Absolutely disgraceful. Medical negligence to the extreme.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been suffering with severe pain since the age of 15. The doctors have told me I have endometriosis but without being seen at the hospital I cannot get an official diagnosis. Years I have been waiting for this appointment, to then turn up today on time , to be told the appt has been cancelled. I was never informed and was given no reason as to why it was cancelled. I am in agony constantly and more than likely infertile due to the lack of care and professionalism of this hospital and the others. I am so disappointed and downright disgusted at how I have been treated. Not so much as an apology . Nothing. This country is a sham.

Review titled Eye dept
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I presume the eye dept is a phantom as it is not on your list. However the people (ghosts?) I saw were all friendly, professional and caring. Quick, efficient service and I felt that, unlike at Scarborough, I was being treated as a person rather than a faceless 'patient'. There was enough time to mention symptoms and events that I would not have raised at Scarborough. My thanks to all I met from Reception onwards.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the care you received in the Eye Department at Malton Hospital. It is heartening to know you were treated with such kindness and encouragement during your appointment. Our staff work hard to ensure their patients receive the highest standard of care, and we appreciate your positive remarks about the treatment you received from all the clinical and support staff involved in your care. I have passed on your comments to the staff involved, which I am sure they will be very pleased to read. Thank you for taking the time to write to us to express your gratitude. We value and appreciate feedback from our patients and relatives and thank you once again for sharing your experience with me.

Review titled Upsetting

Having been driven from home in extreme pain to get to as far as reception to be told that “ this isn’t an a and e “ and instructed I’d be better ringing 111 because of a 3 hour wait when the sign said 2 I was reduced to tears and turning away to go home again. Not the level of care I expected from an urgent “ care” centre. I would not normally complain but this really affected me And did not help my situation. I suggest the receptionist takes some time to think about her bedside manner and not the key she appeared to have lost and was talking about to someone unseen in the next room. Very disappointing. I did ring 111 from the car and was kept on hold for over an hour to be told a doctor would ring me tomorrow. As someone with a chronic progressive illness I’d like to think that some level of care would be better than what I received today.
