Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dean Hodson - Posted on 28 December 2024
On attending A&E today with my daughter I would like to say what excellent service we received from all staff at Walsall Manor Hospital. The staff showed the utmost care and dedication despite being away from their own friends and families at Christmas time. At a time when we all know the NHS is very stretched the staff showed a high level of care and patience.

Review titled Fabulous care for me
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rob H - Posted on 17 December 2024
I was admitted into cardiology following my initial assessment and overnight stay in another department where I was given the utmost attention and care from everyone who dealt with me during my stay prior to my angioplasty and my transfer to New Cross and back . The cardiologist there was fantastic , despite some of my tests showing normal he had a hunch that something wasn’t right and that was proven on my first angioplasty where it identified a major problem in my coronary artery. By having that hunch and me having a further procedure to have 2 stents fitted at New Cross no doubt saved my life . Everyone from the cleanser , the tea ladies and of course the nurses looked after me and carried out regular checks to ensure my stay was as comfortable as it could possibly be and it’s really made me appreciate everyone who works in the NHS. Overall the System of the NHS needs major investment and in some departments especially GPS needs a lot more sorting , there shouldn’t be ambulances stuck at hospitals for hours because they cannot release patients , or no beds available .but I still think the staff especially the ones I dealt with were exceptional and cannot praise them enough .

Feedback on Night and Day Staff at A&E – Patient Care. Recent experience accompanying my elderly grandfather in A&E, an experience that highlighted a concerning contrast in patient care between the night and day staff. After spending over eight hours advocating for my grandfather’s needs, I was increasingly distressed by the lack of responsiveness from the night staff. Throughout the night, several team members appeared more engaged with their mobile phones than with the patients in their care. Those staff members, identifiable by their light blue tunics, showed minimal bedside manner, often gathering in groups and engaging in casual conversations rather than attending to patients. I observed instances where they discussed personal topics and avoided interaction with patients who were visibly in pain or in need of assistance. This lack of attentiveness and professionalism was disappointing and impacted my grandfather’s comfort and well-being. The situation changed entirely during the shift change, when a University of Wolverhampton student nurse—whom I unfortunately did not get the name of—began her shift. She was tall with brown hair, and her dedication to her role was immediately evident. Her prompt, compassionate assistance with my grandfather, who cannot bear weight on his own, was a stark contrast to the care provided overnight. Thanks to her efforts, he was finally comfortable for the first time in nine hours, and I want to express my sincere gratitude for her assistance. While I appreciate the value of mobile phones for communication and potential use in clinical roles, it was apparent that personal usage impacted the attentiveness of the night staff. The casual attitude they displayed, along with the lack of patient engagement and empathy, raises concerns, especially for elderly patients who may not have family members to advocate for them. My grandfather is a proud, independent man, and it was challenging enough to persuade him to seek help; such an experience could easily deter him from seeking future medical attention. In contrast, the day shift was exemplary in their approach. They communicated directly with my grandfather, listened attentively, and ensured that he was actively included in conversations about his care. Their approach exemplified the standard of patient-centered care I would expect. I hope this feedback can be used constructively to reinforce the importance of consistent professionalism and bedside manner across all shifts. Patients and their families deserve to feel that they are in a safe, attentive environment at all hours. Thank you for considering this feedback, and I hope that measures are taken to ensure all staff members, regardless of shift, deliver the high standard of care that patients deserve.

Review titled Very poor service

Went for a routine walk in blood test today . Could not believe the que . Poor chemotherapy patients having to sit in the same room. The staff on duty were rushed off their feet. While I noticed four so called managers standing about trying to look important. It took me 2 hours from joining the que to leaving . The line was far longer when I left so goodness how long some people were waiting . I understand that GPs are sending patients for these test but how can you expect those 4 phlebotomist and one receptionist to cope under that much pressure. No wonder staff are on burn out .

Review titled Amazing service

Recently spent 6 hours in A&E with my partner who had a suspected spinal/neck injury from rugby, and while the wait was long, it’s clear that the staff were doing everything they could in a very stretched system. From the start, they were very polite, excellent communicators, explained everything clearly and taking great care to ensure there were no serious injuries. It's easy to forget how many people need urgent care, but the staff were patient, professional, and did their best with the resources they have. The NHS and A&E departments don’t get enough praise for the incredible work they do under difficult circumstances. Thank you!

Review titled Fabulous department

Good evening, Today I visited urgent care at Walsall manor hospital. I had fallen in a park the day before and had swollen and very sore knee, I could barely weight bare. After being booked in I was called through to see ANP who gave me crutches and arranged for x-ray, after x-ray ANP came and found me in the waiting room, to let me know I'd been referred to trauma/orthopaedics. It was lovely to be kept informed. Then an orthopaedic Dr called me and was very polite and professional explaining everything regarding my knee and what the next steps were going to be. He fitted me a knee brace and said I would be called within a week to be seen again once swelling had eased in my knee. I was so pleased and very grateful with the service I received within the urgent care department today, I just thought I'd mention these two outstanding members of staff who went above and beyond to help and make me feel comfortable and my knee secure. I received phone call next day with appointment for 3days later to be seen in fracture clinic. I would definitely recommend Walsall manor urgent care centre. Thank you so much.

Really poor wait times, 5-6 hours and still not been seen by a doctor for my 4 year old! If the department is that busy more doctors should be available

Review titled Horrible Staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Appalling - Posted on 02 October 2024
Nurses are extremely horrible. They were rude to my grandad, kept on ignoring him when pressing the bell. I traveled hours to see my grandad and was told to come back tomorrow. I got there for 6:45pm and visiting finishes at 7. Not one single nurse attended my grandad whilst I was sitting in the waiting area and I could see his bed from there. Not one single nurse shown any empathy or care. Just there to pick up their payslip. If you choose this career then do it for the right reasons.

Review titled Positive Experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rajbinder Shergill - Posted on 06 September 2024
I would like to share my positive experience that I had with the sonographer whom I had for all of my scans (there were many). She was kind and funny and made me feel at total ease when entering the room up until when I left. She is a credit to the NHS service and we need more people like her for patients to feel at ease at times when it can be daunting.
