    I was impressed by the fact that there was very little time spent waiting around. For example, I was seen by the triage nurse withing 15 minutes of my arrival. I was taken through for tests within 15 minutes of being triaged and reporting to reception.I was seen by a doctor about 30 minutes later. The department was quite busy with a constant queue for the triage nurse and the majority of the chairs in the waiting room were taken. I was impressed with the speed and efficiency, as well as the treatment. I do, however, have a number of small suggestions, which if implemented will, I believe, benefit your patients: The signs indicating that children aged 15 or below should report straight to reception were placed such that they could not easily be seen. Patients walked straight past the one on the wall at the entrance to the department and the one on the triage area was obscured by those in the queue. Also, when the queue extended into the corridor leading to the department neither sign could be seen. You need to place signs in the corridor and in such a way that attention is drawn to them as it fell to other patients to inform parents with children that there was no need for them to join the triage queue. Equally some adults went automatically to reception first before being directed back to the triage queue; There were some very elderly and unwell people forced to stand and queue, some of whom were on crutches or using walking aids. Again it fell to others in the queue to tell them to sit and they would hold their place - I did this myself for a man who was having difficulty standing and walking. I suggest a numbered ticket system on arrival allowing the infirm or in pain to sit while waiting to be triaged; A number of the chairs in the waiting room were very damaged (they looked like they had been slashed with a knife) and I thought that this was unsanitary. I appreciate hospitals are short of funds, but this looked bad; Several members of staff barely raised their voices above a whisper when calling for patients. I repeatedly asked what name was being called so I didn't miss mine, which I very nearly did and my hearing is sound. Many of the patients were elderly so might well have hearing difficulties. I don't suppose being taught to project your voice is covered in medical training and I wouldn't want them to shout, but they need to be heard - many of the people near me were frustrated at being unable to hear if their name was being called; The parking or lack thereof caused untold stress prior to even entering the department, however, I am not sure what can be done about this. A sign explaining how the parking meters outside the emergency department function would also be useful. To finish on a positive note the staff, who were working really hard and at pace to ensure that patients were kept waiting for a minimum amount of time were very pleasant and efficient. This was my second visit in the last 2 years , both very positive.

    Greeted by a lovely nurse and doctor,fully explained my condition and medication prescribed. The nurse working on the clinic was most helpful and jolly,putting ua at ease.

    I have just attended a Tia clinic following an episode that took me to A & E in another hospital and a referral from my General Practitioner. From the initial call following the referral I was offered a next day (Sunday) appointment. I was advised what to expect in advance and the whole process which involved some routine tests, an mri and a Doppler scan and a consultation with the consultant was completed in three hours. the nurse specialist, the mri team, the Doppler specialist were all patient and good communicators. The hospital was clean, including common areas, consulting rooms, toilets and cafe. The consultant who saw me with the results was thorough and took time to ensure that I understood the findings and diagnosis. I really could not have wished for a better experience today. Many thanks to all those I interacted with today.

    The doctor that saw me today in ENT was absolutely lovely today, usually appointments are quite awkward and uncomfortable and he made me feel very comfortable talking to him and being there, he was very funny , polite and very gentle on the painful parts of my ear , by far best Doctor I have met ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Sadly I’ve not had a good experience my elderly aunt I’m told has been admitted we live in Somerset my sister in law in France we have been phoning to find out what has happened to our frail elderly relative , apparently the operator tells us she is on Feering ward , between us we have been phoning for 3 hours straight still no answer , trying to find out if she’s even alive all very distressing as no one will answer the phone I’m unable to drop everything to travel to Essex as my husband has also been very poorly here in Somerset and I have to say had excellent care in CcU ICU over here and communication have been great so I know it can be done ,

    Had a Colorectal outpatients appt at Broomfield in July 2024, appeared hospital made a mess up and booked me a F2F when there was no clinic that afternoon and the Consultant called me hrs before on my appt day so we did the appt over the phone, not a huge issue as thankfully I hadn't left to go to the hospital. Anyway he was a very nice consultant, understanding, he listened and put me really at ease and explained he was looking at my last scan result (2022) and after further chit chat he arranged a urgent CT dye scan which took place on 29/07/2024 at Broomfield hospital, lovely staff there that day too, she couldnt get my veins up but we persisted and eventually after couple needle attempts the scan was done. I was told results in a couple of weeks, its now 05/09/2024 and no scan results, its over 5wks now since CT scan was done, I phoned Broomfield they put me through to Basildon as appears thats consultants base hospital , they wasnt sure if was the correct surgeon as appears I only had his first name on my appt letter, but Basildon put me through to their colorectal secrataries so I left them a message on 21/08/2024, explaining whom I was and I'm a Broomfield patient not a Basildon one, no callback from them as of yet. Left a voice message with Broomfield colorectal nurses on 02/09/2024 explaining who I am and that I still dont have my CT scan results, no call back from them yet though I know they do say please wait 2 days for a call back so I totally understand they are busy team, I also understand that they cant give me results anyway but hoping they were able to pass my voice message onto someone who can. All I would love to get is my CT scan results , I just telephoned Basildon hospital again today 05/11/2024 they put me through to Colorectal Secretary whose out of office voice message doesnt even say anything about the consultants name I am looking for , and shes out of office anyway for several days so I didn't leave another message, as my last one wasnt responded to. I am stressing a bit now and feel like I am going round in circles trying to get my CT scan results, cant get through on Broomfield line as their auto voice rarely gets the dept correct that you ask for, I speak clearly and concisely when I make calls and that auto voice comes up with obscure names when you simply say 'Colorectal'. Theres a long wait for the operator too. That auto voice connector on Broomfield phone line needs looking into, it should understand the word 'Colorectal' or 'Outpatients'. If anyone can get anyone to simply call and give me my scan results I really would appreciate it. Been lovely staff so far at Broomfield all kind, friendly and understanding , it just seems a long time (over 5wks) to wait for a scan result especially when the scan was arranged quite quickly, well it seems a long time to me.

    Following a call to 111. I attended A & E. A chest infection had affected my asthma. I was looked after so very well by the team that were on the late shift Saturday 29th June. 2024. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses. A fantastic hospital.

    I phoned Broomfield outpatients depth. and pressed 1 for ophthalmology outpatients appointments. After they are closed I got the following announcement....... sorry we are closed!...... not very helpful! No information on when they were open, just sorry we are closed! Causing me to then have to queue on the main number and waste other staff's valuable time to answer When they were open? And hospitals complain that they are under staffed.
