    I attended Mt Gould Hospital for an Xray. It was easy to park and the hospital itself is clean and welcoming. I was directed to the xray waiting area where I had a short wait for my appointment. The person who I assume to be the radiographer called me into the xray room. He didn’t introduce himself, nor did the student from Plymouth university who was working with him. Students are there to learn from qualified staff making it even more important to demonstrate good practice. The xray was done quickly and also reported on quickly as it was available on the nhs app with a few days.

    Had an appointment with Orthotics the one-way system is not clear. The new location is hard to find once you found department you are mess with an overgrown mossy slippery and weeds growing up so bad. It’s a carpet of Green when you look at the disabled ramp. It is overgrown slippery and unmaintained people attending this building have mobility issues as it is.

    We visited a patient in Lopess Ward today, but was disappointed that the ward was very hard to find especially as we don’t drive. It would be helpful if there was a map at the entrance explaining the layout of the hospital. However, once we got there we were impressed by the everything there. A lovely place for rehabilitation.

    Thank you for your positive feedback for Lopes ward, I am pleased to hear that you were impressed by everything on Lopes ward. It really is a lovely place for rehab. Regarding your feedback pertaining to having difficulty locating the ward as a non-driver, I have contacted LIVEWELL front desk/ main reception at the Local Care Centre and can confirm that a visual map is available and clearly states where the wards are. Although I do understand that at weekends the local care centre main reception is closed and a map for the site may not be seen. As a visitor that is walking to the wards, I do have a map available for your future reference, should you need it. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison team (PALS) if you would like them to email the map to you. PALS can be contacted by phone on 01752 439884 or via email at plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net Please mention reference 78143, so that the PALS team can access the file and send the map to you. There are also signs situated around the Mount Gould Hospital site that should be visible to drivers and non-drivers. So I apologise if these are not clear. I have emailed the estates team that look after the signage to make them aware of your feedback and they might consider looking into whether the signs need to be clearer for Lopes and Saltram ward.     Initially I was just trying to find the public toilets & cafe because I was early for an appointment. The signage for this area/facility was non existent! I wandered around several areas of the hospital out buildings but no indication of this facility anywhere. I went & rang the bell on several of these out buildings but staff only seemed to stare at me through the doors & didn’t bother to at least ask what I wanted! I finally found a person in the grounds who sent me up to the next entrance, to a sloped roof building. I went in that entrance & that was just a mass building site, again with no access to any kind of clerical staff who could maybe help me. By this time I was in such pain as I have mobility issues that I was almost in tears & had to just get myself back into my car to sit & rest. I had become quite distressed & as soon as the pain started to ease, I just drove home. This was my first ever visit to this hospital & god help me if I ever have to return here! If the aim is to deter people from resting there before or after appointments then yes, a good job done with totally inadequate signage & non existent & rude staff with no idea of a courteous & polite customer service.

    The nursing care is second to none however trying to get information on my discharge date and why it has been delayed is like trying to interrogate the mafia. I am a current patient but my patience. May resort to discharging myself.

    I have spoken with the staff on the ward and it appears that due to the package of care being arranged there was a delay in your discharge date. Debbie, one of the Junior Sisters on the ward discussed this with you on 19 July 2023 and explained why there was a delay in your discharge and what the process now is.     Despite searching the internet for a Hospital floor plan to where I wanted to get to, there isn't one. I have friends and colleagues from all over the country who wish to visit a patient in a ward. These people have no idea about the layout of the hospital or where any of the wards are. I believe you have to Book your visit for certain wards with slots of 1-hour duration. If one could have a layout map of the facility, none of that hour would be wasted searching for the wards.
