Review titled Nursing ward staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by hannah wall - Posted on 01 December 2024
Some of the ward nursing staff have never made me feel so uncomfortable in my life , i am not sure if it was because i am an NHS patient in a private provider, but if not then i am not sure why some of them, were extremely rude, they where actually telling me how i was feeling and not asking me, i got extremely teary on several occasions, i am a very nervous patient and have had several operations this year in the same kind of area, last two times i got hospital pneumonia so i really didn't want that again , i work full time, i care for my father with a dementia and work really hard , at one point i heard two nurses state that "i was going to be a pin" that one. Working in the NHS i don't feel tis is acceptable and with an up and coming operation again happening soon, i don't feel very calm or happy about having this to be honest I am due an operation on my vein within the next few weeks, and although it is scheduled at Th i am so so worried i will contract Hospital Pneumonia again which will be the third time, i would like to know how i can ask for it to be carried out at mount Stewart but with nurses that actually care about your feelings and vulnerability. I am really saddened by this, and i wonder, if the nurses should be aware that they can be treating any member of the public , working for the NHS or not if that makes sense

I was admitted for a total knee replacement & have nothing but praise from every member of staff that I met. The nurses, doctors catering staff, physiotherapists, radiographer cleaners, were all caring kind & considerate. I felt in good & safe hands throughout my stay. Thank you to everyone.

Review titled Good experience.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julie Stockman - Posted on 30 April 2024
On arriving early at the hospital on the morning of my operation, I was greeted with a lovely "good morning". I explained I was a bit early as was travelling from Brixham and worried about the traffic. "That's no problem, if you like to take a seat, someone will be with you soon" I was soon collected and taken to my room. I had all the necessary checks and then asked to change into my gown and dressing gown ready for my procedure in the afternoon. I met all the team involved with my operation, and was explained to what would be happening. I was taken down for my afternoon surgery, was laughing and joking with the lovely young lady, who put me at ease. She explained she would be watching my surgery. After being put to sleep, the next thing I knew was waking up in recovery, a lovely lady looking after me. Not long after I was taken back to my room. I then had a lovely cup of tea and a bit later a sandwich. All of the nurses were lovely, helpful and friendly, nothing was too much bother for them. The next day I started my recovery. The meals were lovely, and the tea lady was always made my tea just how I love it. The night staff were lovely, and continually checking up that I was ok. My consultant advised me that my x rays look good, and all went well, and that I'd have a follow up appointment. On the day of my departure I was given all the relevant information for my return home, and who to contact if I had any problems. I was wheeled to my daughter's car by a lovely nurse and helped into the car. I would just like to thank everyone, I met during my stay for my operation, and for what they have done for me. You are a brilliant team. Thank you all..

Review titled Unkind staff let down the hospital
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Despite meeting a friendly medical team and nursing staff the back office administration team was beyond offhand and unkind. I have never been spoken to so unkindly, especially when I am very unwell, snappy, rude, and did not believe I had left messages even though I can prove I did. Training is urgently needed for these staff as they were the reason I will not come back. Other Ramsey Health hospitals were so very different, kind, compassionate and helpful.

Review titled Appalling hospital
Rated 1 star out of 5

1) rescheduled our appointment a week later with no notice. So we arrived and were told we had wasted our time and the childcare cover. 2) No apology for this. But we were met with the most appallingly rude receptionist one could imagine in one's worst nightmare. Will not return to this place. Would advise others to stay away.

Review titled Overall was good
Rated 4 stars out of 5

The surgeon and his team were great. I had some lovely nurses take care of me particularly my night care nurse who was excellent. My blood pressure was very high on day 2 which apparently can be normal after a major operation. I was given medication which lowered it slightly. I was also feeling very unwell. They weren't able to give me medication for this to take home and decided to discharge me. I asked how I would deal with it if it rose again and was told I would have to go to Torbay Accident & Emergency. Fortunately I didn't have to do this. My blood pressure is now much better and seems under control since coming home.

I had such an amazing experience with Mount Stewart Hospital from when I had my consultation to actually having the surgery and recovering. The lady’s that looked after me that day were so kind and really made me feel safe and took in how I was feeling. The lovely chef made me some amazing food and I couldn’t fault my experience there. Thank you to all of the Lady’s there and to my surgeon. Only thing is I’m still not sure on the outcome of my surgery as I was out of it when I was told :)

I saw the gynaecologist and told him openly about my problems and trauma of multiple loses and he brushed me off by telling me what i need is a psychiatrist. As a person who sufferes mental health i felt discriminated and fobbed off and left my appointment sobbing. 0 compasion 0 care just there for a pay cheque and nothing more.
