Review titled Outstanding service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

What a marvellous service the breast clinic was today at the QE11. I got an appointment just over 2 weeks after being referred by my GP. Amazing to be seen so quickly. My appointment was 9.15am this morning and I was seen shortly after this time. There was a physical examination and consultation with a very calm, knowledgeable and pleasant consultant, then a mammogram and an ultrasound. All carried out in the same area of the hospital, the results of which were discussed at the same appointment. All staff - nurses, consultant and technicians were knowledgeable, reassuring, patient and competent. All this was in a calm, clean and comfortable environment and was carried out in under 2 hours. Outstanding service and perhaps a glimpse of what our wonderful NHS could have been across the board if it had had adequate funding and resources over the past decades. Please do pass my thanks and comments to all the staff there and please do add my comments to any surveys passed to those in government that need to hear how outstanding quality care can be provided with the correct resources and funds.

Review titled Competent and caring

Preparations and procedure were all on time. My nurse polite, kind and attentive and showed me exactly how to take my gas and I was able to watch the whole procedure (which interests me). I've forgotten the name of the Gastroenterologist(?) who did the business but she was was pleasant and very happy to explain and answer my questions. The sandwiches/tea/biscuits were high grade too! The only possible fault was the initial waiting areas were rather cool. A generally good experience; thank you.

I know there are so many complaints within the NHS at the moment. But I can say my experience with the Breast Clinic is a good one, Within one week of contacting the Breast clinic, I was seen by the consultant, appointment made and seen for an ultrasound, everyone was so kind and professional. Thank you.

Review titled Amazing service

I arrived, booked in and was seen within 5 minutes. I was seen by an Emergency Nurse Practitioner who was very friendly and made me feel at ease, he showed me the signs to follow to X-ray and told me to follow the signs back directly to his room when the X-ray had been done, again I was seen very quickly and back at the room in no time, I was told I had fractured my ankle and given a walking boot and some information of how I should be looking after myself along with some exercise's to do. I was outside waiting for my lift within 30/40 minutes of walking in to the Urgent Treatment Centre. I was very happy with treatment that I received from all the staff right from the booking in receptionist, to the Emergency Nurse Practitioner who was amazing, the X-ray receptionist and the X-ray staff. I’d like to thank them all very much for the Fabulous service they delivered.

Review titled Excellent facility

I recently had a eye surgery at the facility within the New QE2 hospital in Welwyn Garden City. I must confess I did not know that it was there but what a brilliant facility. To have a unit conducting cataract surgery in an area where there are many people who need such a service is a great example of good planning .

Review titled Caring staff

I was referred to gynochology for suspected endometriosis and when I spoke to the doctor they were extremely understanding and helpful. They listened to me (which is something that hasn’t happened in other hospitals regarding this issue) and told me that my pain was real and they understood that this was important to sort out. When examining me, they were patient and professional. I didn’t feel rushed and could take my time weighing up options and answering questions. I came away with a treatment plan and feel optimistic about the future. The wait for an appointment was quite long (about 2 months) and it is a minimum year wait for surgery but I have heard of people who have had to wait longer.

Staff couldn’t have been more patient, considerate and kind on my visit to the breast clinic today. From start to finish everything was explained clearly to me and I was treated with nothing but compassion by the wonderful staff- from reception staff to specialists. A clean, peaceful environment which was calming and welcoming, with a fabulous coffee shop too!

Review titled Wasted resources, paper pushers and laziness!

I was sent to do an Xray. I was waiting on sitting area was called to say we wont do your X Ray because if there is a fracture we can not treat you or wait for ambulance. I did not asked treatment but a diagnosis...so with Xray equipment 5m from home had to come to Lister with my 26y. Autistic son...trains , cabs, stairs..its not that NHS does not have resources its how they are managed...biggest mistake instead of promissing new hospitals closing QE II was a big mistake! And some people should not be allowed to work in a hospital!
