  1. Review titled Newham Hospital West Wing Emergency Waiting Area

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 November 2024

I recently visited the paediatric waiting area in the West Wing Emergency Department at Newham Hospital and was extremely disappointed with the facilities. There was no provision to warm up baby milk, which is essential for parents with young children. Additionally, the customer care was lacking; the staff seemed indifferent to our needs, making us feel more like prisoners than patients. This experience was very frustrating and disheartening.

  3. Review titled serious concerns about data privacy and GDPR regulations

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 November 2024

I recently visited the paediatric waiting area in the West Wing Emergency Department at Newham Hospital with my family and was extremely disappointed with the service and facilities. The reception staff were unresponsive to our queries. Initially, I was told that someone would call us for the paediatric area, but after waiting for three hours in pain, I had to ask again. They then claimed they had called our name twice already, which was not true. There was no sympathy or apology for the mix-up, and my wife was in tears while our 15-month-old son was distressed. Moreover, I noticed that the reception staff were using their mobile phones for personal use, including scrolling through social media, while at the front desk. This raises serious concerns about data privacy and adherence to GDPR regulations. It is alarming to think that our personal data might be compromised due to such negligence. I urge the NHS to review the CCTV footage from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on 13/11/2024 to verify this behavior. The NHS must ensure that patient data is protected and that staff are attentive and professional. This experience was extremely frustrating and disheartening, and I hope the authorities take immediate action to address these issues

  4. Review titled A&e experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anna - Posted on 24 November 2024

Was seen by a nurse and was told to then wait at the waiting room, to then be told I was waiting in the wrong waiting room. A few more hours waiting around, had spoken to a lady in the department, she had sorted things so quickly and had spoken to a guy to get me seen. If it wasn’t for these two individuals I would never have been seen. Things were fast tracked for me. Thank you both so much :) NHS needs more people like them. A little frustrating we can’t use their names

  5. Review titled Excellent (Out Patient) X-Ray service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2024

My experience from main reception, x-Ray reception, to changing instructions gown, bag and the radiologist was exceptional. This is a no appointment x-Ray service for out- patients. My whole experience was less than 1 hour. Every member of staff l encountered was courteous and professional. Please pass on my review to the staff in the department. Rating: Outstanding

  6. Review titled Incompetent practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Tahina - Posted on 23 October 2024

I took my partner to a&e due to suspected post-op infection on the wound site. The system they use to triage people is not effective. You attend a receptionist and then you’re called for a further triage with a nurse, which is repeated information. Very slow nurses and plenty of staff with rude behaviour. They are not compassionate and emphatic enough. They don’t know how to do prompt escalation and referrals. They send people from main emergency to west wing just for fun, they don’t communicate between departments. This slows down the whole system. There should be more cooperation to make the service more efficient for sick people. I witnessed a stroke due to the long waiting time in the waiting area. This is very sad and healthcare workers should be working harder and be more passionate about their jobs.

  7. Review titled Long induction process

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2024

Due to couple of reasons I have been reffed for an induction which was scheduled on the 30th of August. It took me a week, 7 days to get procedure copleted, as labour ward was constantly too busy due to shortage of staff. My child been born on the due date 6th of September. In this case I don't see the point of sending someone for an induction because there is some potential risk, and keeping 39 weeks pregnant women in a hospital for a weeks. I only has been inducted on that day because I have lost my patience. After 5 days in a Larch ward i was finally moved to labour ward where my waters meant to be broken, unfortunately night shift midwife wasn't able bo do this because in case labour will start she won't be able to stay with me as she has another pregnant women next door. Next day shift doctors team didn't even show up to visit me, because they were too busy... who ever was delivering food they just forgot about my order and I been left without food. When shift changed I tell them about food and about all this situation, that I am waiting induction to continue for 6 days and then I just lost my patience, I started to cry... I can just assume, that the midwife feelt sorry for me and she call night doctors team to continue procedure. Finally after about 14hours I was holding my new born in my arms. During this week I haven't meet with my fist daughter as she was very emotional about me not being at home. We couldn't even talk on video call every day because after conversation she was feeling upset and she wasn't sleeping well. So can you imagine what I was going through all that week because hospital are not employing enough staff? I think it is very unprofessional on the staff side, that they are using shortage as an excuse. I don't know if this is the reall reason or not, but to hear 6 days in a row that my procedure is delayed due to staff shortage is not giving much confidence to the patient. On the 30th August, I have called in the morning 7am to double check, and I have been told there is no beds available, but I need to come for monitoring and after that they decided to keep me in a hospital,on the waiting list for a bed even though my monitoring was ok.On that day they knew that they don't have capacity to manage such a many induction, but insted of rescheduling they just kept people waiting. Another thing, doctor/consultant wasn't specific when was explaining induction process. He didn't mention that it may take few days, and what circumstances may affect the speed of the process. I am disappointed about communication between staff and patients. I wouldn't recomend to go for an induction to this hospital keeping in mind that they are short of staff.
