  1. Review titled Westham ward angels

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Louise - Posted on 12 June 2024

Having just had my appendix removed I’d like to say my time staying in West Ham ward was a friendly professional and reassuring stay. The nurses and the dinner lady were so lovely and helpful they are an asset to the department which is extremely busy and always on the go.

  2. Review titled Waiting time and compassion is poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sim - Posted on 27 June 2024

I xan appreciate waiting times can be long but this experimce was not pleasant. Waited for more than 8.5 hours for my elderly mother who had a bad fall. Once the xray were done- had to wait for the Dr. No staff on the ground to ask, everyone kept running away anytime we wanted to ask a question. One HCA indicated the delay was due to the Dr unable to open mother's Xray. First receptionist stated the automated " only been 6.5 hours and the current waiting time is 7.5 hours", the next one was a guy who was extremely rude. I explained there is no one on the floor and would be good to get an update as mother was in a lot of pain. His response was there is nothing on the screen about her, I clarified and asked that there should be some update e.g. has it gone to the Dr. He stated I used the word "outcome" and not update. So, I used the word update, at which he rolled his eyes! His next response was to ask the nurses despite me explaining no one on the floor, his lack of compassion was clear as it had been 8 hours plus with no update and for a Dr to see us and me wondering if mother had hit her head, if there is any internal bleeding etc. He then said follow the orange line and go to the nurses station, rolling his eyes and then hurrying back to chitchat with his colleague (this was 3-5am in the morning). I followed the orange line which took me to the inpatient a&e which had doors that required access cards! It would have taken him 5 mins to find out how much further the wait was as it had been more than 8.5 hours at that stage. Clear patronising behaviour and some basic empathy and compassion needs to be taught for such reception staff! To make matters worse, other staff thought the waiting area is the place to laugh and chit chat away as they stay in a corner or walk through which was just beyond infuriating whilst watching someone you love in pain and frail. Most horrendous experience I have had and I work in the NHS!! However, the Dr was really caring and empathetic to our wait and took the time to do all the examinations and explain everything in detail.

  3. Review titled Great Service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2024

Had a Consultation with the Gynaecologist. She was excellent . She explained protocol for the treatment and the side effects. Gave clear instructions on how to use the product. Listened to my concerns and arranged a follow up in a few months time. This is NHS service at it's best. The staff and doctors are doing their best at this hospital under a great deal of pressure.

  4. Review titled Quick and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chloe phillips - Posted on 13 June 2024

I went in for a walk-in x-ray turned up at 8:30 doors for walking x-ray open at 9 and I was out by 9:15. Really quick efficient and hopefully will get my results in two weeks. Was cautious using this hospital because of the previous reviews, but I saw nothing but ease and sufficiency

My appointment was many months away but it was brought forward by the team running clinics on the weekend over the phone. I really appreciate them working on the weekend and was very happy to speak to the consultant who really listened and helped me address my symptoms. Thank you

  7. Review titled Wonderful Doctor and midwife on Labour Ward

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 May 2024

We gave birth to our son and I felt the quality of care and communication by our doctor and midwife was absolutely brilliant. I am so grateful to them both. We were given information, options and autonomy all communicated with care and respect. I cannot thank them enough for the safe delivery of our son.

  10. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen - Posted on 11 May 2024

Sent to A&E by my GP. Tues 7th 10.45am Short wait for triage taken straight to Majic Bay 1 . Nursing staff great kept the mood positive for patients . straight on oxygen alternated with nebuliser. After xray and vista from doctors. Admitted and moved to small side room in majik Bay 2 again great staff kept informed taken for ct scans .monitor and stabilised with oxygen nebuliser and antibiotics. Stay was 48 hrs. All staff from house keeping, porters , food and nursing where friendly helpful and pleasant. Food was okay nothing terrible perhaps a bit bland , tea was way to weak and milky coffee too. Best think was the hot chocolate . Could not of asked for better care or attention.
