Review titled Waiting game
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 November 2024
Told by 111 to head to A&E must be seen within the hour. High blood pressure Stage 2 Hypertension. Got to the hospital they check my blood pressure once on arrival. Was higher than what it was when I tested at home. 2 hours later had a blood and ECG. No further blood pressure test. Sat in the waiting area over 4 hours and still waiting..... there was 2 other people also waiting. Appreciate there may have been other patients but to not even do a further check is in my view not providing the duty of care I would expect from an emergency department. Additionally it appears there was only one doctor on shift Appalling service.

Review titled Amazing nurses
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was seen by a nurse who's first name began with k for my hearing aid fitting appointment and she was so kind, patient and caring. She did an amazing job of treating me with dignity and respect even whilst I was having a panic attack due to my phobia of hospitals. She was prompt, professional and my appointment was on time. The other nurse I had for my hearing test who's name began with b. b was also kind professional prompt and had an amazing bedside manner. Both nurses helped me as I was panicking and aided me in calming down. Definitely an amazing team. I would highly recommend this service.

I had to have a procedure today at the Arthur south day procedure unit. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone there because I was very nervous going in as it was my first every surgery. Everyone was very supportive and put me at ease very quickly. Want to say another massive thank you to the nurse that looked after me before and after the surgery, she was absolutely fantastic!

Was given an angiography after a heart attack. From arriving to being transported back to James Paget Hospital, I received excellent care from all staff. The Doctor explained what was happening and I now am so thankful for the repair to my heart. The hospital is wonderful!

Review titled Shocking
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ian Hindle - Posted on 25 September 2024
N & N Shocking my wife has been sent here to have a Pet-ct scan for her lung cancer. 1. The information on the paperwork gives a general postcode for the hospital Not the Pet-ct scanner area. Fortunately we arrived early. On entering the hospital the information desk was closed and shutters were down. So we asked for directions to the correct area from a member of staff that was having her lunch in the foyer. She directed us to the radiologist department, who then directed us to the Mri/ct area. At this point the male receptionist told up you are in the wrong place, and when I asked where we should go as we didn’t know the hospital, he replied down stairs. After finding the department outside the main hospital we got my wife booked in was informed they would call me when she was finished, asking how long it would take, was told an hour- or an hour & 1/2. So I asked where I would find a canteen, the response was in the main hospital. (Signs in the hospital are either non existent or they don’t make sense and are miss leading. I returned to the Pet-ct Scan department only to be told I was not allowed to wait in the waiting area, as this is for patients only, (again the referral information provided does not tell you this). Asking where I am supposed to go, I was bluntly told by the door man, I can either walk around, sit in my car or find an area in the main hospital to wait. People that have cancer and their loved ones, should not have to be treated like this, I have paid my taxes for the last 45 years and I am shocked that this hospital is allowed to be run like this and not have people here to assist its patients and their families that are going through enough pain and heartache as it is Shocking

Review titled Like something from a third world country
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2024
I was sent to ED after being taken unwell in another department of the hospital. From the off, the staff were dismissive and disinterested. I was streamed to the "Front Door", which meant I was sat in a lobby with about 20 other patients, without access to water or a toilet for 4 hours, and able to overlook and oversee the staff having confidential conversations about other patients at the desk, openly arguing about the management of the other patients, and become increasingly confused and chaotic about which patients they were actually responsible for and where they were. The consultant who saw me didn't listen to me explaining what had happened, and didn't ask any follow up questions. The nurse who took my observations and ECG forgot to actually measure my blood pressure. When my blood results were back, I was told in the middle of the lobby (and in front of other patients) that my test results were fine and that I could go. I was concerned about one specific cause for my symptoms - the consultant laughed at me and didn't answer my questions. I was sent home tachycardic, hypotensive and dizzy, without any cause for my symptoms being found or without having a plan. My poor GP will have to pick this up. A truly terrible experience - I'd honestly advise anyone needing ED in Norwich to travel to JPUH or QEH rather than putting themselves through this hell.

Review titled No longer terrified of procedure
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Dave - Posted on 23 August 2024
A number of times before this year I’d tried to have the camera down into my gut in the end I’d given up and had an X-ray to my relief. But this year I’d had to go back and the thought of it terrified me. But from the initial appointment being booked all the way through the appointment I had such amazing support and reassurance that I completed the examination and added to this no longer fear the whole procedure. This is a testament to the professionalism of the staff from start to finish who got me through this procedure. I now know that if I ever need it again I’ve nothing to be concerned about and am extremely grateful to the whole department for this.
