Review titled Failing Hospital
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Caroline Freeman - Posted on 03 March 2024
Following an unexpected emergency operation I spent 12 days recovering in Dilham Ward. The staff try their best the nurses are kind but the place is in a complete chaotic state, you waited ages to be attended too, so short staffed, medications delayed so many staff can only do certain things it’s all a mess. However my main concern is the cleanliness of the patients toilets absolutely disgusting I’d rather have used a public toilet in the high street. The drain was blocked with goodness knows what it was vile the wet room flooded into the main hall, the toilet was filthy and the smell was unbearable. I was in hospital with bowel related issues which meant I spent a lot of time in there unfortunately so I know it wasn’t cleaned properly. Doctors and nurses also need to correspond with each other better, doctor tells you what they’re planning for you but it doesn’t get relayed to staff treating you It’s a shame because as I say nurses do their best but you can tell the NHS is ruined shortage of staff and clearly no one wanting to recruit and become nurses I pray it’s a long time before I have to go in again and if I did I think I’d look to try and go private next time

Entering A and E i was quickly seen and monitored and paperwork obtained and sent through to be seen for the next stage. Treatment for a suspect heart attack was given and concluded. The staff were wonderful.

Review titled The staff here show contempt towards patients
Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother has been denied basic rudimentary care on the grounds the staff could not be bothered. She is in a wheelchair and was scolded when she asked for someone to take her to the toilet. The staff are outright verbally abusive to a disabled elderly woman, and outright will refuse to do their jobs. Staff will cover for each other's gross misconduct and scold a patient further for bringing this misconduct to the attention of relevant authorities. They think it's appropriate to send someone home when they're an old woman who is screaming in utter agony after a fall and hit to the head and possibly a broken hip. The way the staff in this department both refuse to do their jobs and speak abusively to a patient, especially a scared and vulnerable elderly patient, is utterly disgusting. They should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I have sympathy for the systemic issues but this staff misconduct is inexcusable. It's abusive, medical negligence, malpractice, gross misconduct, and immoral. Do better.

Took my 4 year old son to A and E which turned out to be scarlet fever, the staff were brilliant and looked after him extremely well. Made my son feel very comfortable and relaxed. Great communication once we left hospital the following day.

Review titled Amazing rapid, professional and caring service.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I found my 90 year old mother with breathing difficulties on the morning of Christmas Eve. I sought help and an ambulance arrived within 5 minutes and treated and took her to hospital. She was seen straight away in a&e and I sat with her. She saw several doctors and nurses all of which treated her with great kindness and respect. She later transferred to the acute medical unit. At all times the staff kept us informed of her condition and what they were doing including asking her about her treatment options in a patient and calm manner. She was clearly very poorly and sadly died in the early hours of Christmas morning. I was able to be with her in a single side ward and stay with her after her death until I was ready to leave her. I felt really supported by all the staff. It was a sad outcome but I understand that doctors have not found a cure for mortality and she was able to have a peaceful and ‘good death’

Review titled Long wait
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2023
After suffering from vertigo and having heart failure I was taken to A&E on recommendation of go. We were in ambulance for 2 hours waiting for triage after there was a 41/2 wait before a doctor was able to see us. The doctor could not manage his workload and after a few hours in A&E we noticed 2 more appeared to help him. Lots of nurses sitting around chatting and being loud not taking into account there we’re sick people that needed peace.

The care I got from everyone was amazing and swift. I didn’t know my ankle was broken when I went to the Dept. but was examined and xrayed quickly then given lots of advice before discharge. The physio team made sure I got support whenI was back home. All the clinical, porterhg and transport teams were excellent.

Review titled Exceptional
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Melanie Stone - Posted on 05 October 2023
We booked in at 4.30pm (ish) with a damaged ankle and wrist. I was seen fairly promptly by a very approachable nurse, who took me to xray in a wheelchair after taking a full health history and checks. I didn't wait long for the xrays then went back to a & e. Saw the same nurse and was given the results and exercise sheets and advice. We were able to leave by 6.30pm!!! Amazing. I was expecting up to 8 hours All staff were lovely Finding a wheelchair was the most difficult part
