Both doctor and nurse were very courteous, informative and sensitive to our needs. After procedure they clearly explained the after care needed.

Review titled Information zero
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 April 2024
My husband is in now in the surgical ward. He is 80 he fell from a step ladder and fractured his skull. I have no complaints with the treatment or the staff. My complaint is this. We are not told anything. He was initially in for 2 days observation then told going home Monday then going home Tuesday or Wednesday. They've now stopped mentioning when he is going home. He's had scans of his head, they've never told us the results. Why he is still there we don't know. Other than a pneumonia jab since he's been on the ward I don't believe he's had any medication. If you as the staff what is happening with his care plan they know nothing and say you have to ask the doctor. My husband is 80 and hard of hearing and the staff have accents which are hard for me to understand and practically impossible for him with his hearing loss. In fact he was given offered pain killers when he wasn't in pain because he misheard. Before the accident he was a fit 80 year old whose always out walking. Now he spent over a week in bed other than going to the toilet. My fear is by the time he gets home he won't be able to walk. They used to take people like him for a little walk along the ward for a bit of exercise. I tried to encourage him today to come with me but he didn't want to chance it. Had one of the nurses told him to go with them he would have done it. I myself had a heart attack in January I was treated at Whipps Cross and Barts. I was told exactly what to expect and what drugs I was taking for what reason kept up to date at all times.

Review titled Poor hygiene standards
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 May 2024
I took my wife into A&E due to her debilitating health condition. As she also had Covid, she was asked to wait in a designated holding room . On entry to the room, there were food wrappings, empty used bottles, a used face mask, a discarded Covid test, cigarette butts and other detritus on both the chairs and the floor. The floor had clearly not been cleaned for some time as it had dirt and marks on it in a number of places. As health is surely the priority in hospitals, this was way below the standard expected. I put in a complaint and yet, more than a month later, have received no explanation or apology. We have both worked in the NHS and understand the restrictions faced due to chronic underfunding. However, this is not an excuse for such poor maintenance and putting patients at an increased risk rather than being somewhere to help them get better. I hope you will consider your current cleaning arrangements and remember to put the patient first. This is not a criticism of the treatment she received, which was excellent.

I received outstanding care, professionalism and kindness today. It was a simple procedure but nonetheless I was apprehensive of what was going to happen. I was clearly talked through the possible outcomes. Thank you dynamic dermatology duo! 🙏🏻💙🙏🏻

I had a biopsy. As this was my first experience with this procedure, I didn't know what to expect. Fortunately, from the moment I entered the treatment room, the DR and his assistant created a remarkable air of calm; I was completely at ease. With nothing to worry about, the appointment went smoothly and was trouble-free. Parking can be a challenge, so best to have someone drop you at the hospital. Overall, I would highly recommend North Middlesex University Hospital Dermatology services.

Review titled Problem with communication
Rated 1 star out of 5

My urgent cardiology appointment was cancelled without telling me - I found out by accident from my GP app. Then the rescheduled in-person appointment was changed to a telephone appointment at the last minute. I was informed by a volunteer who could do nothing except pass on the information. There is no one in the department to talk to. I am left feeling very anxious and I don’t think this is a good service. I’m sure the health practitioners are excellent, but communication, certainly, is poor.

Review titled Very bad service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 March 2024
The X-Ray dept rang & cancelled my urgent biopsy 5 days ago and I have still not heard from them since. Having had cancer twice and this time finding abnormal hard lumps in my lymph nodes should be of utmost priority, but no one has bothered to contact me to rearrange an appointment. I have rang several times in the last 4 days, left messages on answerphone, emailed PALS, also been told by a receptionist that someone will contact me but so far nothing. I am now at my wits end as even my GP didn’t know what to do and said just wait to hear from them. I’m now petrified but putting on a brave face for my children’s sake.

Well last week my dad was bought in here by ambulance as he tried to pick me up from the floor (I have cerebral palsy and I fell). dad had his arms under my arms to pull me up and as I leant back on him to pick myself up dad went back on the floor and I fell on top of him. dad hit his buttocks on the floor. he cried. ambulance took dad to this hospital as they refused to take him to barnet hospital. done x-ray some blood test, painkillers and home. tuesday I took dad to gp. Again painkillers and this time referral to acute musculoskeletal for physiotherapy (still waiting for an appointment). Where are we now. Ambulance this morning took dad back to this awful hospital a&e . Guess what. Fracture on the spine. I said to the A&E consultant he was here last Saturday and they would not do a scan. consultant just shrugged it off.

Review titled 83 years of age sent home
Rated 1 star out of 5
by nicky nicola - Posted on 26 February 2024
I have Cerebral Palsy and I fell on Saturday evening. I called my dad to help me get off the floor and as I leant back on him to push myself up I pushed him on the floor where he hit his coccyx. My dad has passed heart history and is on medication. He is a diabetic to. The paramedics were not concerned about the pain on his back but, very concerned with the irregular fluctuations of his heart. Paramedics took him in for this. Nmuh a&e sent my dad home after 3 hours and told him to contact the gp. An 83 year old with passed heart problems and nmuh did not keep my dad in to monitor his heart and perform the necessary tests. This morning I try to get him a gp appointment and guess what, no appointments. If I was not disabled I would have taken my dad to Barnet General Hospital. If I every need emergency treatment and the ambulances refuse to take me to Barnet General Hospital I would rather die gracefully at home or get a mini cab to Barnet General Hospital. Lets hope I can get my dad an appointment tomorrow morning at the gp. Absolutely disgusting !
