  1. Review titled Lack of information

Rated 3 stars out of 5

On 31st December 2023 I attended cardiology for an Echo examination, it is now 25 days since the examination yet their has Been no feedback to myself or my GP. I appreciate that the 31st December was a Sunday and the following day a bank holiday but the delay in producing the result of the exam seems particularly long especially so if there were any areas of concern highlighted about my cardiac health

  2. Review titled Paddington ward are amazing

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Miss Hampton-jones - Posted on 11 November 2023

My little boy was in following convulsion and chest infection. The teams were amazing they took care of him with such love and passion and even made sure I was okay. Usually we go to Milton Keynes but I'm so glad we opted for northampton the paediatrics team care so much more and actually listen to parental concerns. As my son has been in so many times since he was a baby they understood I know him better than anyone and when I feel he needs more observation I'm right. They made me feel I matter couldn't fault them. Meds on time they even watched him whilst I had a shower and went for a walk. Would definitely go to them again instead of milton keynes hosptial all staff including student nurse who bent over backwards for us and the activity team were amazing thankyou sooooo much for helping my little man and keeping me sane x

  3. Review titled Recovering from prostate surgery

    by steven728 - Posted on 17 November 2023

This is about guilt. When I arrived in Collingtree A from ICU I was in a bit of a state, don't mind admitting it. I hadn't been taking my anxiety medication, but it's no excuse for how I behaved, what a mistake that was. I remember lying on my bed clinging to my dressing gown like it was some kind of life jacket. Acting like some truculent twelve year old, pleading to them to just get me out of there. I was scared, petrified and in a state of panic. Wouldn't talk to any of the staff, nurses, docs, nobody. Was in a great deal of pain and was, for some reason, struggling for the words to explain and unable to process, make any sense of they were trying tell me. I felt as though I was trapped in some kind of disconnect. Anyway, long story short, pain relief was forthcoming. I calmed, I settled, and that was how it would be until my final discharge. Guilt ,embarrassment, don't come close, I can't tell you how awful I feel about that now. I don't know if this sorry tale can be brought to the attention of the team at Collingtree A, but all of them, with absolutely no exception, they're stars. All of them. There were some seriously ill patients in that ward when I was there, I have/had no right to self-pity, at least I was on the mend, right? And actually, looking back, there were a few difficult patients there, including yours truly I'm ashamed to say. What can I say ? It's a difficult situation all round but the staff go above and beyond, they deal with that stuff, day in, day out, I don't know how they do it, I really don't, and calm is never never more than a breath away. If any of the team can be made aware of this, I so desperately want them to know how sorry I am but also how grateful I am.

Went to the hospital in an ambulance I was very poorly and was for the whole weekend I waited for a few hours before being seen they took bloods waited some more and saw a doctor all the while waiting on a chair it’s impossible for me to be sitting up with a bad back ddd I asked for a drink nothing only to be told to move and give up the chair to wait somewhere else with hard and full of other patients and nowhere to sit up took an oath and said you would look after people so I decided to leave because I couldn’t stand I didn’t get any results didn’t get a doctors advice just because a nurse decided that I needed to wait elsewhere and didn’t care to look at my file to see why I was there in the first place I was respectful I always appreciate and say thank you what is this nhs coming to am sorry but when you are a nurse your patient should be ur first priority don’t be working as a nurse if you don’t care I left in pain and unresolved health problem what should I do now I have surgery and this might hinder it they never gave me an answer as to why my blood glucose kept dropping as well thank you for nothing

  6. Review titled All round helpfulness and care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Everyone, from the security to the nurses and doctors were kind, patient and did their best to help under very trying conditions. One admin’ assistant even helped me,as a technophobe, with my mobile to top up. Such a difficult job and not once did I see any sign of impatience. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Poor service and communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Annoyed & Confused - Posted on 17 August 2023

Just spoke with endocrinology secretary ref no results for almost 5 months to be told "oh you should have had a follow up appointment it's not been booked" first thoughts ok these things happen next "can get you in 20th November" I responded with is there any reason why I haven't had my results yet I haven't heard anything - 3 days of peeing in a pot for what? "I don't know results are here will have to get the secretary to call you, this number" erm yes is there any reason this hasn't been done yet? "will book appointment for november" went to ask what time and was hung up on! Disgraceful service so I am still none the wiser on my results or why I need a follow up appointment let alone when and what time it will be!!

  8. Review titled Extremely Poor Organization

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 May 2024

After receiving the results from my appointment in August 2023, I received a letter that additional testing is required in 3-4 months (which is November/December 2024). My appointment was cancelled and re-booked numerous times (I have all the confirmations to provide), I called NGH (tel no 01604523930) and they promised that this would never cancelled again but it was cancelled (fact). I arrived there to clarify why this was cancelled and re-booked again and again. The answer was - "I cannot help you". My last appointment was rescheduled for Monday 13th May 2024, when I arrived, the reception staff just told me - "It was cancelled, I cannot help you and we cannot book you. Help you yourself " and I never received a confirmation letter that this was cancelled/rebooked. Today 14th May when I called NGH : (tel no 01604523930) they stated that would re-book me again, but couldn't guarantee that appointment would take place. It is unacceptable. Who will be responsible when I become blind (currently vision test delay is 6 months)? Who will provide money back for my time?

  9. Review titled Poor communication and lack of empathy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Kat - Posted on 27 August 2023

My father called me and my Mother to collect him at around 12:00 as he had been told he could go. We arrived around 12:30 at the the hospital and the nurse said he needed to find the doctor and check medications. After around 2 hours he came back and said my father needed antibiotics and he was waiting for the doctor to write the up. Another hour later we were told the prescription was going to pharmacy and it would be a further hour. During this time we spent £5.50 on car parking which in the cost of living crisis is a lot of money. The nurse came back and passed on a message that my father didn’t need antibiotics which is what we 5 hours waiting for. We questioned this as my father had antibiotics the night before and the nurse just said I’m just passing on a message. My Mother said the the nurse we will probably see you again as this was my fathers 3 visit in the last week and the nurse responded you probably will and was not very supportive or reassuring.

  10. Review titled Thank you so much for the New Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by J. Hawkins - Posted on 01 July 2023

I was delighted to see that there is a new MRI service at Danetre Hospital. Although I know the service has a limited menu of MRI's I needed an ankle MRI recently and was over the moon to be called for the Danetre service, which is only about 5 miles from me. I was able to avoid trailing 40 miles to Northampton, cluttering up the already cluttered NGH parking facilities and was much happier generally with the less stressful local service. The friendly and professional fellows I saw at Danetre were lovely and put me at ease. The whole process took about 40 minutes instead of the 3 hours+ that it would have taken for me to go to Northampton. I can't thank you enough for providing this excellent service at Danetre Hospital.
