Review titled Friendly, professional staff but questionable processes
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Kyle M. - Posted on 05 March 2025
I had a great experience with staff, but the patients were amazing to be with. Pool table is great, food offered is exceptional, but you don't get told what staff put on your record or detail about you. I felt I was discharged at the wrong time where my mental health, learning disability and eating disorder weren't taken into account. They also could've done better to find me accommodation and cover food expenses. Some staff overstepped their boundaries, citing safeguarding rules but really just weren't experienced enough to know the exact rules. Consultants aren't the greatest when it comes to explaining your diagnosis or allowing you to challenge it. There are some misdiagnosed people there. A number of staff were delightful to be around and will be missed, but all the patients were absolutely brilliant and were very pleasant to be around. Some people will get better in this ward, but some conditions aren't treated as they should be and those people don't recover, because of how they are treated and the treatment offered for them. Rooms are good, some engaging staff, TVs around to pass the time, courtyards could use being open more often, activities were good and helped get people engaged. Some people recovered better because of the patients help, not the medication or staff support as certain people were looked down upon. Would love to go back there, but this place isn't perfect for everyone. Needed more time before discharge and better plans put in place, but pressure on beds is high.

Review titled Absolutely disgusting service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I left my appointment with the Northgate Hospital feeling more depressed than I was before. The psychiatrist hadn't even read my notes before I attended the appointment and she therefore was clueless as to why i was there. Just such a bad service, left feeling so angry and helpless.

Review titled More harm than good!
Rated 1 star out of 5

My experience at the Silverwood centre (camhs) while trying to get my Son some help and support turned into a very unhelpful & traumatic one! We have been left in a worse position than before we began as the therapist wouldn't listen to what I was trying to explain about the current situation with my Son. She felt she knew best & was taking credit for situations which took place long before the therapy, therefore the current & ongoing issues which we are still struggling with didn't get discussed or worked on at all! When I tried to explain that more support was needed, she began putting me down in front of my Son causing me to leave the room. I left feeling that it's all about ticking boxes from her end!
