  1. Review titled NHS should be ashamed

by Lorraine - Posted on 14 May 2024

Following 24 hours in emergency care my husband has barely been seen. I appreciate how busy they are but someone needs to get up there and see what’s going on. There are barely any drs around as they’re dealing with constant emergencies so therefore can’t get to the wards. The whole place was inundated yesterday and the consultant came into waiting area telling everyone how bad it was and how long they’d be waiting and to go home if not urgent. Why are people with fractures & limb injuries going there in the first place I thought it was emergency care for more serious illness. It can’t go on like this. My husband eventually got a bed and he was one of the lucky ones, the corridors were overfull of people lying on trolleys for hours & hours. As I write this my husband has been in 39 hours and still no treatment and not a poor dr to be found. I despair for the future

Dear Lorraine, We are sorry to read your review; this is not the experience we would expect or want for our patients. Although our Team does not have an investigatory role, we can advise on your husband’s options for his care to be appropriately looked into if he (or you, with his consent) get in touch with our team by emailing: Patient.Experience@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk. In this email, we would need your husband’s full name, date of birth and date of attendance to the emergency department. Our best wishes, The Experience Team

Had a hip replacement operation on 14 December 2022. From the moment I went in to discharge the same day, every member of staff I came in contact with showed great professionalism, care, compassion and appropriate humour. Cannot speak too highly of my visit
