Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kenneth F Rusby - Posted on 05 April 2025
I was referred by my GP for a possible TIA event, and was seen at Cramlington on 3/4/25. Every aspect of my experience was faultless: the telephone booking, the "meet and greet" assistance, the pre- examination tests [BP, blood sample, ECG etc] all were done speedily and thoroughly. The initial examination by the doctor was extremely thorough, and concluded with the need for a further MRI scan. The doctor explained that if I could spare the time, she would try to have that done the same day, then assess the result to save a return visit. This was arranged in c. 1 hour, and again the MRI process was most speedy and thorough. The final assessment likewise, including the handing to me a copy of the report sent to my GP, which was unexpected but incredibly efficient and welcome. In summary, everyone involved in my visit handled my treatment in the most thorough, professional, and courteous way possible. I think my experience also vindicates the "one stop shop" approach of the Cramlington operation. I tried to thank as many of the staff involved as I could at the the time, but would be grateful if you could repeat this to all involved. They were all a credit to your operation, and their professions.

Review titled Fantastic service

I brought my son in to children's A&E and couldn't fault the service at all. Thankfully it was nothing serious and I was able to take him home, but we had been triaged, seen by a doctor and on our way home in half an hour. The staff were all so friendly and engaging with my son. I hope I don't have to use the service again but know my children would be in safe hands.

Review titled Wait of 1 hour and 10 minutes after appointment time.
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Gynae sppointment - and bear in mind time taken off work to attend an emergency appointment - 3pm. Quick check on bloods and blood pressure then over 1hour 10 minutes wait before called in by doctor turned up around 3.40pm, saw 2 others who arrived later. Staff messing around behind counter - over 6 of them for about 4 patients. No apology for lateness, no consideration of loss of work time. Seriously unacceptable service with no respect for people's time.

My husband was admitted twice recently with acute abdominal pain which required immediate surgery. I cannot thank the paramedics enough, they were brilliant, the surgeons are incredible and the A&E staff are wonderful, efficient and caring. Thank you isn't really enough!

Was strongly advised to go straight to a&e on a Friday night after being seen by a paramedic in the house, got there and went through triage fairly quickly. I was then left there, unassigned to a member of staff for 9 hours before I discharged myself and went home.

Can't thank the emergency teams enough for the excellent care they provided for my husband. The ambulance crew, A&E staff, and the surgeon were all outstanding and then aftercare in ward 15 was second to none. Well done to you all and thank you.

Review titled Not good enough

I do understand services are stretched . I attended with gallstones firstly and long wait was finally taken to a ward. Send home after two days with pancreatitis ended up going back to A&E for worsening symptoms and pain. Despite numerous requests for pain relief was left in agony in waiting area it’s been 3 hours and I am still waiting . It’s inhumane . I know it’s pancreatitis as that’s what my last admission was this is an emergency and yet I’m waiting no bloods taken after 3 hours of pain relief/ truly awful experience

Review titled An excellent emergency service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Joan Williams - Posted on 30 October 2024
I wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my care recently in A & E and then Ambulatory Care Unit. All of the staff were kind and respectful of my needs, from pain relief to wheeling me round departments for Ecg Ct scan etc. My results were gone through in details, and I was happy I understood what would happen next. If you have to be ill, this is the place to be!
