Review titled Belittled, gaslit and dismissed
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 April 2024
I came into A&E via an ambulance with excruciating, debilitating pain. I suffer from Adenomyosis which Northwick Park constantly dismiss. They are not an accredited hospital to treat patients who present endo/adeno symptoms. The gynae nurse who gave me the ultrasound had the nerve to give false information regarding my condition saying it is the same as endometriosis. It is not. She then said it’s like “Covid and the flu.. both are the same”. They proceeded to tell me everything was normal when I was feeling pain at 8 on a scale of 10 being the highest. They gaslit me and told me everything was fine when I did not feel fine. Prior to my diagnosis, I was admitted to this hospital and kept in for 4 days where the Adenomyosis was not detected by their Gynae team. I was discharged and then returned to a&e at Royal Free where they diagnosed me. Completely incompetent when it comes to endometriosis and adenomyosis. Stay away unless you want your time wasted and your soul shattered by not being heard and listened to. The staff here clearly hate their job and do not have a duty of care. Completely and utterly disappointed and hope no other young woman walks in and has to be made to feel as small as I did. This is the third time I have been dismissed by this hospital, including when I was sent home with bleeding in my first trimester and told it was normal only to miscarry a few weeks later. Overall, a horrible, traumatising experience that I will never forget. To be gaslit by medical professionals who have a duty of care, I have lost faith in the NHS. Particularly at Northwick Park Hospital. Avoid at all costs.

Review titled Doctor did not seem to communicate with each others
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Clement Collomb-Heredia - Posted on 29 March 2024
I was admitted twice in the SAU, once as an out-patient with the maxilofacial team, and the day after booked in SAU for observation for the night with the ENT. During those 3 days i felt the two teams spent more time transferring me to each other than treating me. The first doctor i saw made the right diagnostic (parotitis) but it took 6.5h to get the prescribed treatement. I saw the OOH GP, 2 maxilofacial, 2 ENT, the A&E staff, none of them seem to be aware of what the others had done. When in observation in the SAU ward with the ENT team, I felt like there was no handover from 1 shift to the other. I was asked to not eat or drink (no saline IV prescribed) untill i saw the ENT twice, for them to say that surgery was most likely not the best option but keep not eating untill you see next ENT. I choosed to leave to recover at home with the prescribed meds rather than having to wait 6h to explain to a new doctor what the last one had done.

Review titled Thank You
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Helene - Posted on 05 March 2024
I would like to say ‘Thank You’ to the amazing A & E doctors and nurses, reception and security for their hard work. With the hospital undergoing major works the disruption to the department which was so busy last night (4/3/24) meant all the staff had to work really hard to accommodate all patients and relatives. Working in difficult conditions they were just amazing. My mother in law received excellent care. Big shout out to A & E staff - Thank you so much 🙏 . It’s a shame the workman carrying out the building work weren’t a little more understanding whilst moving building materials through a busy department with many sick people - Health and Safety at its worst!!

The maternity wards and staffs were very professional, supportive and knowledgeable which helped for us to have a healthy baby. Also helped the mother to recover from a very difficult pregnancy by delivered the baby safely. I am very grateful with all the help we received both collectively and individually from all the staffs across different levels. Thank you maternity team, special thanks to midwives who worked at Maternity Triage and Birth Centre.

Review titled Good care under dire circumstances!
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Lesley Smith - Posted on 11 April 2024
Admitted with suspected stroke documentation sent from Ealing so I was admitted quickly - to the corridor in A&E! I spent almost 13 hours there along with so many others waiting for a bed to become available on the ward - the corridors were lined with patients. At no point did I feel neglected - the staff coped calmly and efficiently under these extremely busy and stressful conditions. They deserve better and so do we the patients and tax paying public!

Review titled Not satisfied with services
Rated 3 stars out of 5

For the past 15 days, my husband has been experiencing persistent abdominal pain, prompting us to seek medical attention. We visited Northwick Park Hospital twice during this period. While the hospital staff were courteous and professional, we left feeling disheartened due to the lack of a definitive diagnosis or improvement in his condition. I understand that diagnosing abdominal pain can be complex, requiring thorough testing and examination. However, it's concerning that after three visits, we're still left without a clear understanding of the underlying cause of his discomfort. In future interactions, I would appreciate more transparency regarding the diagnostic process and clearer communication about the next steps in his treatment plan. Additionally, I urge the hospital to consider implementing measures to streamline the testing process, ensuring timely and accurate diagnoses for patients experiencing similar issues.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the nurses in the ra clinic. on my recent day care appointment they were brilliant, they took care of me and explained all that was going to happen. On arriving i was extremely nervous but after 7 hrs with them they made me feel at ease. a very big thank to them . my consultant has been great with helping me manage my illness and makes me feel like I am being heard and not just another patient who is ill. thank you.

Review titled Lovely care and personal warmth all round
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by R Davis - Posted on 21 March 2024
I wouldn't have been motivated to review at all except for the excellence and loveliness of my experience. Never having been before, I left a lot of time and, despite so-so signage and difficulty finding the right department, got there 40 minutes before my appointment time and checked in. Everyone involved - receptionist, nurses, etc, were very personable and put me at my ease. The X-ray was conducted easily and without fuss and it was made clear how to position myself to do it in the best way possible. The consultation was lovely and clear, as well as friendly, and I was made to feel cared for and listened to. It was made clear when an extraction was not involved what care I need to do to avoid needing it in future and a danger with a remaining root of a tooth that fell out. I note that probably Northwick Park does not come top of every league table but compared with some experiences at the Royal Free which maybe does, it was much less crowded. The result is that, without feeling rushed at all, I actually left 10 minutes before my original appointment time. Sincerely, thank you very much to all involved, not least for averting my anxiety. Clear and prompt follow-up letter too.

Review titled very upsetting and disappointed experience
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Child's mother - Posted on 14 March 2024
My son was due for his tonsillectomy surgery on 20th Feb and his pre assessment was done on 14th Feb,the lady I spoke on his pre assessment was very good and explained in detail about the pre and post surgery care.On his pre assessment he was having slight dry cough and due to that reason his surgery got postponed and I received an email saying that surgery date -to be confirm.. Now, on 22nd Feb at 9:53 am ,I received a call from the hospital saying to come on 10th March for his surgery in the Rainbow ward at 7:30 am..the lady on the phone asked about the pre asssement and said "it was passed and its written to re-book surgery in 2 weeks of time and she also mention that my son is already on a long wait and cannot wait further longer or otherwise we will refer back to gp".On hearing that I said okay I will come on monday 10th March for surgery. On the day of Surgery which was 10th March ,we as family went to the hospital with all the preparation. We prepared our son mentally for the surgery and also made sure he didn't had anything after 8 pm on 9th March but when we went to the hospital after waiting for an hour we came to know that the surgeons are not aware of any surgery on this day and we apologize for the inconvenience caused by us to you and was also told that you will receive a call from admissions team on Monday but till now i had not received any call from either the hospital or the admissions team. I tried calling the ENT department but there is no one to answer the call. After a long wait I had to disconnect the call by myself seeing nobody is bother to response. Now who is to be blame the management or the staff. Also, after receiving the call on 22nd Feb ,there were no further communication was done or sent to my email saying the confirmation of the surgery. Overall,it was my first experience in the hospital and I received this kind of service from the hospital which is totally not acceptable. I would request the management team to take action against this case and make sure this does not happen again in future with any of the patients.
