  1. Review titled The best care imaginable

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Stacey - Posted on 15 August 2024

My wife had appointment at the ultrasound department on the 14th August but unfortunately tripped and fell in the corridor sustaining mouth injuries and lacerations to her arms..the staff from adjoining departments closed the corridor and continued to treat this as a potential emergency. The registrar and his senior colleagues were professionally aware of the risks involved to call for the assistance of emergency services and Truck 8914 arrived within 4 minutes and took immense care to treat my wife ..painstakingly peeling back and replacing lacerated skin to cover the wound to assist the healing process. Having transferred to The Queens A&E the care was equally diligent. My wife had blood tests a CT scan and treatment by the maxfac team together with a team including a theatre nurse who dressed her wounds .All of this care was orchestrated by a young doctor…sadly I cannot name other professionals involved but they were outstanding. At a time when it is popular to say that the NHS is broken and patients bemoan 6 hour waits…where on earth could you receive this amount of attention without a wait in line. My wife’s injuries were not life threatening but none the less traumatic and I feel reassured that the enthusiasm for the job displayed by every single member of personnel involved in our experience should give everyone cause to be grateful. Thanks…if it is possible please circulate this message to the ambulance service also your colleagues in adjoining departments and The Queens A&E I would be very grateful.

  2. Review titled Wonderful nursing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Claire Barker - Posted on 27 August 2024

My father who is being treated for cancer contracted COVID and was very poorly. The staff worked tirelessly, with kindness and treating him with such dignity, there was a point I thought he was not going to make it, and thanks to the wonderful staff he is coming home today. Words will never be enough to express my gratitude. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough xx

  4. Review titled Parking is a nightmare!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Bob - Posted on 16 July 2024

Your hospital has massive failings on its parking facilities, only a quick search online proves this. I came 30 mins early, but just couldn't find a parking space anywhere, constantly driving around looking for a space. I came as patient looking for help, instead I just went home, so frustrated and stressed having not seen anyone about my illness and ended up missing my appointment. Your hospital shouldn't offer its services, if patients face such obstacles and restrictions, such as parking their car! I feel very angry and disappointed, because when visiting the QMC, I've never had any such parking problems that your hospital seems to have.

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your recent experience of our City hospital parking facilities, we are sorry to hear that you felt you had to miss your appointment with us due to a lack of parking. City Campus is a much smaller site to QMC and the space to offer parking facilities is therefore limited. We understand that this can be frustrating, however we have many parking attendants on site whom are available to help you. We also encourage the use of the Medlink service than runs every 12 mins from Wilkinson street. We are taking patient feedback on board such as this, in order to review the parking facilities that we are able to provide to our patients I will forward your concerns to the parking facilities management team to make them aware of your comments however if you would like a more personalised response please contact us via the email address Pals@nuh.nhs.uk and we will facilitate this. Kind regards, Kelly – Patient experience officer.

  5. Review titled Kind and caring experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kathy Donnelly - Posted on 23 July 2024

I found the everyone at the hospital to be kind, cheerful and caring. I was in the cardiac short stay unit for an ablation on the 4th July. I could not have asked for better care. On the 16th July I was re-admitted to Papplewick Ward after being seen in the cardiac short stay unit. The assessment team were brilliant. Everything was clearly explained to me and doctors, nurses, catering staff, carers and porters were all cheerful and caring during a worrying time. Thank you to all concerned.

  6. Review titled Found slumped across bed starved of oxygen!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Tony Sandland - Posted on 23 July 2024

My Daughter found mother slumped across hospital bed Inadequate monitoring ( Every five hours) of patient removed from oxygen supply known to be in trouble after just one hour deprivation with oxygen levels of just 74 ( Reading photographed) Seems this could be an unpublicised hospital bed release scheme - disconnect patients..... and leave them.... until levels reach zero in a specialist respiration ward.

  7. Review titled Discharged Dead? or a Zombie!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Tony Sandland - Posted on 22 July 2024

Wife has been in Nottingham city hospital for approx four weeks with low oxygen levels. Repeated attempts to wean her of it result in dangerously low levels within an hour of being disconnected. Unless its been changed at the time of writing this review she is monitered every five hours i.e. Oxygen levels in the low 70's. Despite previous knowledge gained they repeatedly create these circumstances and hours of insufficient oxygen go unoticed by staff again and again and again.... treatment that could be interpreted as wilful neglect.

  8. Review titled My wife's experience and pals

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Tony Sandland - Posted on 23 July 2024

In the matter of dangerous ongoing care lapses to my wife pals are a convenient means to bring them to public and senior management attention , but their ability to enable changes appears - despite best efforts - very limited. Those responsible are shielded from the public by pals and consequently it's not surprising if they were to close ranks and carry on as usual.. no-one takes ownership of an issue. Reading the general 'standard' responses to adverse reviews e.g. We will pass your information to senior management - it's not obvious in the absence of any published feedback to make a judgement on their efforts. So as well as using pals as the initial means of communication, in the absence of feedback either through the website or directly, it is suggested that as much publicity be given as possible to an issue - Press - MP's etc - and details of issue be sent to/delivered directly to The Trust Ceo by registered post ( He does not publish his email address

  9. Review titled Great experience overall

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Madison - Posted on 22 June 2024

I'm currently 34 weeks and was admitted to triage at Nottingham City Hospital today with lessened baby movements. I'm not allowed to name the midwife who looked after me after reading the review policy, but I wanted to leave a review to say how kind and amazing she was, and I left feeling so much better about my situation. The support I received was outstanding, thorough and diligently explained. Not just one concern was resolved tonight, but multiple, and I am now able to enter the remaining weeks of pregnancy knowing that baby is strong and healthy and I am too! Thank you so very much. This review isn't entirely isolated to one person either, as I've found the service I've experienced throughout my pregnancy at the hands of the NHS has been outstanding, and I'm very grateful. Thank you to this midwife in particular and also to everyone who has given me the support I've needed over the course of my pregnancy.

  10. Review titled lack of communication

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by sam - Posted on 06 July 2024

my mum was on barclay thoracic ward where she received brilliant care and she was happy until the doctors kept saying she could go home, we was ready for her coming home getting her bungalow ready for every time to be knocked back by nurses saying no shes not allowed out, eventually i went and got her and she discharged herself as they wanted to keep her a extra 2 weeks cos apparently she needed a new mattress for her bed which couldnt come for another 2 weeks, well i went and fetched her home after the doc said she was allowed and after alot of trouble the mattress was delivered that same day she came home, the discharge nurse was absolutely vile and needs sacking, she said dont build your hopes up to go home but i guess she didnt realise who she was talking too!! my mum is now home and happy leaving her bed for someone that needs it 😊
