  1. Review titled All in all it was quite painless

by Jillybighair - Posted on 06 October 2023

After a period of post menopausal bleeding I was referred to pinderfields under the 2 week cancer pathway! I was seen by the team and given a trans vaginal scan and was told my lining was thickened and I would need a biopsy. I had a biopsy done which was painless and a cervical polyp removed at the same time which I also found quite bareable. I waited about 3 weeks for the results and was told the polyp was benign and only benign polyp material was found on the womb biopsy so I was to have a hysteroscopy with a myosure procedure to remove any polyps. I was then taken of the 2 week pathway and awaited my appointment which changed quite a few times over the next few months. When my appointment finally arrived I had stupidly read some reviews of the hysteroscopy about it been barbaric and invasive and as I was having it awake, I was petrified.I really don’t know why! The dr and his team were lovely, explained what was happening and I can truthfully say it was no worse than a smear! I had local anaesthetic in my cervix and didn’t feel that either! Only thing I felt was pressure and barely any pain at all! All in all it was quite painless other than pressure and a strange feeling of water inside! I would not worry if I had to have another!

  2. Review titled Fantastic experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sophie - Posted on 21 October 2023

I gave birth to my first child at Pinderfields hospital in September. The whole hospital experience was absolutely brilliant. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, kind and competent. The compassion and genuine care both my partner and I experienced was really exceptional throughout our whole time there and really worthy of acknowledgement for how it impacted our whole experience.

  3. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to A and E as my GP wasn’t answering the phone. Presented with symptoms of shaking, chills, upper abdomen pain, extreme fatigue and bad brain fog. Waited 4 hours on an uncomfortable chair praying I would not pass out. Doc saw me, rude woman, felt my abdomen and said” there’s nothing wrong so I can’t give you anything, no tumours or cysts”. I was shocked as I never said anything about tumours or cysts. I asked for blood tests and she tried to push me off by saying it’s a diff department and I’ll be waiting hours and hours, I told her I’ll wait. Then she sent me back to waiting room and she would arrange a urine test. 3 hours later, another doc came and called me to take blood. Said she would send a nurse to see me to do Obs and a take a urine sample. No nurse arrived. Bloods were in range so I was sent home with a broad spectrum antibiotic. 5 days later I feel the same but can’t go through all those hours in A and E and made to feel like I’m wasting their time.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I am really sorry to read of the experience you have described and how staff were unsympathetic to your symptoms. The Trust has values and behaviour in place that staff must adhere to and I am sorry if this was not your experience. I have shared your feedback with the team in the department as it is important we learn from our patient's experiences. I am equally sorry that you are still not feeling well and therefore, I would advise you either try and make contact with your GP or speak to 111. Thank you again and I hope you feel better soon. I had a heart attack. I called 999 to report my problem and was promised to arrive within an hour, but to my surprise, the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. The guys asked about what happened, measured the blood pressure and did an ECG, they decided that the situation was difficult, I needed to be examined in the hospital, since this was my first time. I am glad that I found myself in the hands of well-trained and technically equipped specialists.

  5. Review titled Brilliant receptionist

My husband was rushed to pinderfields by ambulance. We spent time in resuss, ward 25 and ward 45a. Apart from 3 doctors giving us different diagnosis, nurses were brilliant. But really wanted to show appreciation for the receptionist on ward 45a. She went above and beyond to help.

  6. Review titled Disapointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

Sat 12 hours in A@E .The evening Cardiologist recommended cardioversion for my heart. Stayed in for night , to be told the next day, go back to care of the previous hospital who provided this treatment for me. Wasted all that time and overnight , because the day cardiologist decided they would not do the procedure. I will now have to wait 2 months for this heart procedure , at the hospital that treated me before. Will never venture there again. Showed no empathy either.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a heart attack and an ambulance took me to the hospital. I was examined comprehensively and a coronary stenting was quickly prescribed. The operation was also done very quickly and I felt almost nothing during it. The doctor who conducted it was a very experienced professional. Many thanks to him and all the staff who treated me.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I am really sorry to read of your experience and the length of time you were waiting to see one of our Doctors. We are continuing to experience significant numbers coming through our Emergency Departments which, unfortunately, means some of our patients have to wait much longer than we would like. We fully appreciate that this does not make for a positive patient experience but we are doing everything we can to try and reduce the length of time patients are waiting. However, I am really concerned that you are still experiencing pain four days later. I would strongly advise that you contact your GP practice to speak with them regarding your ongoing pain or, contact NHS 111. It is important that you seek medical advice as soon as possible. Thank you again and I hope you start to feel better soon. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  10. Review titled piggy in middle that’s genuine patients

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Susan Gilbert - Posted on 21 July 2023

a person dressed In green came into waiting room and was rather abrupt informing patients that if drs has referred them and it wasn’t urgent they should go back to gp I had come with my friend who had a call off GP at trinity medical centre saying she must attend a & eas they thought she may have a p.E. which in my view is quite serious . this is not the way forward both secondary care and primary care should not be fighting against each other , patients are being passed around and becoming piggies in the middle due to no fault of their own. It’s time nhs worked together , yes you are short staffed but nhs is the pride of uk let’s build a better service , not knock each other . There are patients that are a waste of time but we have brought up a nanny state, so t make genuine patients feel bad for attending for possibly life saving treatment . get this sorted to accept capital letters

Dear Susan Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I would like to say how sorry I am that a member of staff spoke in a rather abrupt manner to patients whilst in the waiting room. I will speak to the manager of the service regarding this as this is not the behaviour we would expect from any of our staff. I am saddened to read that patient's feel that they are "piggy in the middle" between primary and secondary care. This is unacceptable and will be something that I will share within the organisation. Thank you again and I wish your friend a speedy recovery. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)
