Foot Ankle Shepton Mallet Orthopaedics Shepton Mallet Referred back for pain following previous foot surgery here.I explained my problem walking due to irritation pain and tenderness with internal screws in place from surgery We discussed my wish to remove these which was respected and recorded on my letter after my consultation .The surgeon even explained the procedure and type of anaesthesia I would need . I was extremely relieved as walking has been difficult . An Ultra sound was requested to detect another issue first . Returned to a dismissive and extremely quick consultation now stating will not help me with my problem re my screws in my foot and not believing how much pain I am in at the screw site .Rather dismayed and bewildered I spoke and emailed the Quality accounts manager several times who after trying to explain my concern about being left in extreme pain from screws , i was told ‘ We will no longer be responding as there is nothing more to add ‘ !!!!! However my first consultation with her I was offered the possibility of a meeting or help with a 2nd opinion with another surgeon if they could find one . I am now unable to contact again due to the email stating any future correspondence I make will not be answered !! I am having an injection for another area in my foot but my pain in my screw site is being ignored despite my concerns and impact on my quality of life This has gone unanswered . I now have extreme tenderness and pain around my screws with redness and swelling but I have now been shut down by the Surgeon and the manager despite trying to plead for some help re my pain and another meeting to please help me . I have been told ….. ‘We will log your contacts with us but we will not respond ‘ ‘There is nothing else we can offer you ‘ ‘The surgeon does not need to see you ‘ Shocking !! Thanks very much !! They do not care and now I’m left in limbo on strong prescription pain relief and a swollen foot as I have been totally cut off by the manager and the Surgeon I certainly have not experienced ‘The high quality care ‘ they advertise or ‘The undivided attention and’ patient focus ‘ in-fact I have been dismissed with very little ‘attention ‘ especially if you dare to query or plead for further help or review with the surgeon or manager .’ Patient focus ‘ is lacking here . You are basically told what is best for you with little say or involvement in your care and health Foot and Ankle clinic November 2024

This hospital far exceeded any expectations. The staff were lovely all of the way through and took extra time to try and calm my very significant nerves! The whole experience was as good as it could possibly have been. Thank you - all of you.

On arrival into a very pleasant atmosphere, the receptionest was most pleasant and helpful, as were all the staff on my visits. The meeting with the consultant was most helpful and informative. My whole experience was extremely good and would recommend this hospital to everyone.

had a ultrasound guided into both hips.Doctor and his assistant made me feel at ease and where very friendly. A credit to the hospital

I arrived at the hospital and found there were no parking spaces and the car park was so restricted I spent several minutes doing turning around at a dead end. My appointment was cancelled and they hadn't contacted me until after I left home. How can I use a hospital without any parking?

Dear Ellie, This review has only just appeared for me to respond to so I am sorry as I am sure you were expecting a reply sooner. Unfortunately our car parking is limited but it is free of charge. If you phone ahead of arrival and you are running late we can for most cases move your appointment to help you. On the day that you had your appointment the surgeon was unwell. We did try to call you some days before but were unable to reach you. I do understand why this would have been frustrating but some events are out of our control. I see that you have recently had an appointment with us. I wish you well. If you have concerns or would like to talk this through with me I would be happy to receive a call. I had a hip replacement on the 20th of March the care I received was amazing all the nurses and medical staff were brilliant and as for the hospital food 10 out of 10 thanks mike bond

I had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago. I cannot speak highly enough about the care I received. Everyone, Receptionists, outpatients, consultant, x Ray dept, physio, cafe, and all nurses, qualified and unqualified, ward clerks, and all theatre staff. (Hope there is no one I've left out) were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thankyou so much Pam

I have had 2 orthopaedic operations here within the past 3years and on both occasions I have been blown away with the treatment I have received, it has been wonderful. I thank my amazing surgeon and his support team, the doctors, the nursing team, the catering team and last but not least the the domestic staff. I would also thank the un seen people that have answered my queries prior to my admissions. You have all been marvellous and I thank you all for helping me to live my life without pain again.
