Review titled Absolutely useless organisation
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Michael Maher - Posted on 10 August 2024
Arrived at 10 am for 11am appointment after being told to fast before general anaesthetic and come with someone as not able to drive after procedure. A friend took a day off work to bring and pick me up. Only to be told at 1:30 pm that they decided to do a ‘local’ anaesthetic instead. 7 of us patients waiting for the same procedure had not even one been treated by 3:35 pm. I got dressed and went home. Disgusted. The second time this hospital showed the inability to organise anything! My previous experience was an appointment with the consultant I turned up to only to be told ‘ sorry, it’s a mistake!’ Awful administration, management and organisational skills do not exist! Never again! I brought myself off the list there even though I’m still in pain. I’ll take more pain killers!!!

The ladies who test for blood here and the receptionist are so lovely, very helpful and much better service than herts and essex.

Review titled Good service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Natasha Salvador - Posted on 25 November 2023
The antenatal department here are a great team. I had my 12 week scan, and although tricky, the sonographer was very patient & made us feel comfortable. I later attended Fetal Medicine due to some complications. The consultant was very lovely & professional. The midwives & the team are also very lovely. The only issue is wait time. Sometimes for an important appointment, but also when you’re there. You need a full bladder, but can wait in pain due to things overrunning.

I could not ask for a more great experience staff in pre-emissions nurses. The nurses in the pre-operation rooms are fantastic treated me really well., recovery room, staff for fantastic and on discharge they were fantastic. I can’t fault the nurses or the NHS or the doctors or the knee tests or any of you. Thank you so much for looking after me

Review titled How long do results take?

My wife had a colonoscopy 2 months ago. She is still waiting for results despite chasing up with the consultants secretary. Is this normal practice at PAH?

Review titled Difficulty finding the department
by lupusfm33 - Posted on 01 November 2023
With great difficulty you find out where many departments in the hospital are located. Why aren't there arrows on the walls to direct you to each department. To find out, you have to ask questions at all receptions or the medical staff to find out where certain departments are located. I had an operation here, but it was very difficult to find the operating room because no one from the medical staff accompanied me. I am very indignant that in such a hospital in 2023 there are these conditions, as if you are in the last century!

Wife was in extreme pain and still had to wait 12 hours and watch people with minor cuts and bruises seen before her. No updates from staff and when you ask they know nothing. Never coming back here again. Shameful place.

Review titled Five star treatment
by Estrella - Posted on 05 January 2024
My doctor sent me straight to A&E with a potential blood clot. Blood pressure was extremely high & pulse was racing. I can't fault the treatment - from the receptionists to the nurses, doctors and porters, it was all five star. I had an ECG and blood pressure taken in the waiting area. I was rushed straight through. I had blood tests, urine tests, a chest X-Ray, multiple ECGs then placed on a monitor, blood pressure checked multiple times and also had a CT scan. I was given medicine to bring the blood pressure down. I didn't stay in but was there for many hours. I knew that I would be kept in for a while to be monitored so tried to relax and enjoy it! Staff were friendly and I quite enjoyed being wheeled around!

Review titled 14 hours waiting and flat mobile phones
by monocerosnq56 - Posted on 20 October 2023
Accident and Emergency was very busy, like I have never seen before. We were there for 14 hours and many were there all night too. Family member's mobile phones slowly drained of charge with the unplanned extended use without access to charge. In the morning, one kind nurse charged up a daughter's mobile, who had been there all night too. Clearly, this was a over and above and it was not possible to offer it to all of us. Other family members want to be kept up to date, we had to make arrangements for pet care, phone work as we were not in a fit state to work after being up all night. What struck me was that if there were mobile charging lockers, as there are in some shopping centres, next to the free taxi line phone, it would be incredibly helpful. I also would like to say how good it was to have bottled water and biscuits available. It was very helpful. It was such a busy night but we were made as comfortable as possible and got the treatment required, even though the process was incredibly long because of the level of demand.
