  2. Review titled Blood Tests

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I was referred by my GP to the PRH for a blood test. Previously I would have driven to the hospital taken a ticket and given a sample on the same day. The new improved service means I have to book via web or phone and waited 4 days for an appointment. I fail to see an improvement from the patients point of view!

  3. Review titled Wonderful service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Despite the hospital being under obvious pressure, the service I received when I had to attend the Urgent Care Centre on New Year’s Day was first class. The receptionist in A & E was warm and welcoming, the triage nurse carried out a thorough initial assessment very soon after I arrived, and the doctor I saw was very empathetic and gave me a lot of really useful information to help me manage my symptoms - as well as a much needed dose of antibiotics! Please pass on my thanks to your staff for the amazing job they are doing and the wonderful service they provide, in what are obviously very challenging circumstances.

Having come into have a normal delivery birth, things changed very quickly and surgery was required. From the moment we came in, the level of care and all the staff involved was nothing short of amazing! The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. Can’t thank you all enough!

  5. Review titled Stay on the children's ward

    by cassiopeiafd78 - Posted on 08 December 2022

I’m in children ward with my little baby boy and you don’t really get told a lot. They had out of date baby milk and were going to give it to him. I think they should be able to have both parents to stay on a night time. I felt depressed and lonely and I think the care isn’t very good at all at this hospital and things need doing about it

  6. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been having investigations for suspected cancer for several weeks, including CT and PET scans, and eventually needed a lung biopsy to confirm suspicions. I was speedily referred to experts at Guys for cutting edge robot assisted surgery which confirmed cancer, and sections of my lung were removed to ensure all the cancer was taken out. When the lung nodule was examined, to everyone’s surprise, it turned out not to be lung cancer, but breast cancer, recurring after more than 25 years. Before telling me the news, the lung team make a rapid referral to breast cancer care, so I only had to wait 2 days before seeing a specialist and getting my treatment plan. The particular features of my recurring cancer were explained in sufficient detail, and treatment options /rationales discussed. All in all, a potentially traumatic finding was handled sensitively, and positively, and I am confident that the plan for treatment and monitoring will achieve the best possible outcome.

  8. Review titled No communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 92 year old Mom went to AMU for a scan on Monday 28th December 2022, which she eventually got, then had to wait for an MRI which showed she has got cancer of the spine. Consultant said he was waiting to hear from Oncologist,Which did not happen. My sister took Mom home and was told they would hear something on Wednesday which didn't happen. Sister tried ringing but got no joy from either oncologist or consultant. This lack of communication for someone who has cancer is just killing us as a family, we should be trying to sort end of life care but cannot do anything until we hear from the hospital. Come on Princess Royal get yourself together and start caring.

  9. Review titled TIA clinic

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Alison Leigh - Posted on 28 October 2022

The staff in TIA clinic were reassuring and informative. The receptionist explained what would happen, the HCA who did my Obs was efficient but engaging and the Consultant was reassuring and explained clearly what had happened , he was thorough even though he seemed sure of the diagnosis very quickly. Thank you all so much for taking care of me. It may seem a small thing but we were offered a cup of tea and that is caring attention to detail.

  10. Review titled Fantastic inpatient maternity care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 October 2022

I was admitted to the antenatal ward at PRH for induction of labour due to some health problems. The staff were welcoming, and explained the process and what options I had clearly. I ended up needing to stay in for several days before there was a bed available on the delivery unit, throughout this time my baby was closely monitored, and they kept me updated about the wait for a bed. Once a bed was available on the delivery unit, I was transferred immediately, the next steps were explained, and things moved quickly. We ended up needing some assistance with the delivery and the consultant and team who came in to help deliver our baby were fantastic. We then spent 36 hours on the postnatal ward where I and baby were really well looked after. I received especially fantastic support with breastfeeding, and credit being able to breastfeed successfully to the staff on the postnatal ward. On each ward, all the staff (midwives, student midwives, maternity support workers and doctors) introduced themselves, explained things clearly, and were both knowledgable and passionate about their job. I can't thank everyone enough for the safe arrival of our baby, and the fantastic care we both received.
