  1. Review titled What happened to caring?

Rated 1 star out of 5

Service was very quick for my symptoms. Thank you. (Breathing difficulties referred by 111) The 1st triage nurse was professional, informative and kind asking questions and performing swabs. The 2nd nurse had zero care or bedside manner making me feel like a time waster. She advised me only through questions no exam that I probably had a mild chest infection and that it wasn’t asthma. I felt shamed into leaving. (Despite breathing difficulties) I didn’t wait to be seen by the doctor who she advised would be a very long wait. She didn’t seem to care if I stayed or went. A few hours later I got a call to say I had influenza A so no wonder I was feeling so bad!! This is my 2nd poor experience of visiting this A&E both through 111 or a doctor. Sadly both experiences were poor due to the behaviour of staff. I’ll travel the extra miles in future if needed to Southampton or Winchester.

  2. Review titled Observation

Rated 3 stars out of 5

My wife was admitted through A&E and was kept in overnight for tests etc. Perfectly happy with the staff and treatment. The only blip in the procedures was on discharge when we had to wait about three hours for medication to be processed through the pharmacy. There were six beds in her room with three of them all waiting for meds. When staff are struggling to find beds this seems to be a problem that's worth looking at. That is a total nine hours worth of wasted time for one room. There must be other wards and departments in a similar position. This problem must have surely been highlighted before

  3. Review titled Compassionate practice

We had some incredibly hard news to deal with over the Christmas period and I cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who helped us through this. The kindness shown to both of us during this time was astounding and it felt like the time was taken in a busy hospital day to support us both. I wish I could personally thank every member of the team who worked with us however briefly because you made this bearable.

  6. Review titled Poor service

My disabled sister was admitted on 22/11/22 for a suspected heart attack after waiting for for 11 hours she was finally given a bed In a ward. We had her nightwear and asked the nurse could we change her but they assured us that they would do it . Imagine the shock when we arrived this morning to find my sister had slept in her clothes all night . Also we have been waiting for the doctor to hopefully discharge her since 9am this morning it is now 3pm and no sign of any doctor and nurses have no idea when the doctor will show his/ her face . No wonder they have no beds available when patients are waiting for over 15 hours + just to be seen by the doctor.

  7. Review titled I can’t thank the nurses and staff enough

    by jennib123 - Posted on 29 November 2022

I went to QA Portsmouth in November for a LEEP procedure as I have visited before for my other appointments I kind of knew what to expect whilst I was waiting. I always get to my appointments at least 20 mins early because I don’t like to be late and I know how overstretched the NHS are . The waiting room in the gynaecology part of the hospital are as you would expect, they have facilities such as water, toilets and a seating area with magazines. The ladies on the reception are very helpful. I was called through at the exact time of my appointment and the two Gynaecology nurses were lovely. When going in for one of these procedures it is sometime a little embarrassing and also I was quite anxious but they put me at ease straight away explaining the procedure and why it is being done, it was a massive relief to walk in the room and them both talk to me normally, explain everything and when needed they changed the subject to take my mind off of what was going on. I can’t thanks the nurses and staff enough and long may their care continue to put our minds at ease TVM QA gynaecology department.

  8. Review titled Been forgotten about

Rated 1 star out of 5

It feels like I’m in a circus not a hospital. The nurses take at least 2 hours to bring me my pain relief, I keep pressing the buzzer and asking where it is they just say they will talk to someone and no one comes back until I have to press the buzzer again and eventually couple hours later I get the pain relief. I let the doctors know and the nurses that the pain relief isn’t working, they do not change anything, I only saw the doses getting smaller if anything. I have been sat here without an actual plan for 3 days now and I’ve got no idea what’s going on with my treatment. They forgot to serve me breakfast and I had to remind them that I am still here. I have been waiting for one of my important medication for around 5 hours now still nothing. I have been told some tests need to be done yesterday, it is now coming up to 2pm with no mention of the tests. Circus.

  9. Review titled Nurses can't access critical systems when staff are absent

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by A cancer patient - Posted on 16 December 2022

I attended for a simple flush and dressing change but the usual team were off sick so I was asked to go to outpatients. When I eventually found the right Outpatients after wandering round Day Care the nurse on duty wasn't expecting me as she didn't have access to the appointments and wouldn't attend to me as she was going on a 45 minute break. She asked me to wait in the cafe until she came back, but I went back to Day Care where the duty nurse kindly attended to me (probably in her break time). It's awful that cover arrangements are so poorly organised that staff don't have access to the information they need about who is expecting treatment. Managers should shape up and support the nursing staff properly.
