  1. Review titled Blood test booking

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Gordon Coles - Posted on 16 February 2024

Have been trying to book an appointment by telephone for a blood test for the last 3 days, I have tried both morning and afternoon each day and every time I am put on hold for an excessive amount of time, always in excess of ten minutes without any operator answering the call. I have become exasperated by this service as the same situation was encountered six months ago. The booking service is only open from 10 am to 3 pm, longer operating time could alleviate the problem or the employment of operators who are willing to respond to a phone call. Is there any other method by which I am able to book a QAH required blood test? If I am unable to book in a very short time the results will not be available in time for my appointment with a Consultant. Consider the current service is well below an adequate standard.

I was in wardE8 for five days, The care I received was outstanding. all staff from the cleaners upwards to all medical staff were always cheery and caring. I can honestly say I would give a 10/10 for care, compassion and laughter. Thank you to everyone who played a part in my stay

  3. Review titled Despite the challenges Orthopaedics did very well

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by J.Fisher - Posted on 13 March 2024

I tripped and dislocated my ankle and broke my leg. I had to wait a week for the op as junior doctors were on strike but despite this the orthopaedic team did a great job. I cannot thank them enough.

  5. Review titled Terrible communications problems

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Brenda Smith - Posted on 05 February 2024

After waiting a year I eventually got an appointment regarding my cataracts. I was contacted 2 days after appointment for the procedure. I decided to defer as consultant advised I treat my dry eyes and get records of my previous laser correction surgery. The phone number on the letter was impossible to get through to speak to someone. Several days of ringing were unsuccessful, it was ringing for ages then cut off. I eventually got to speak to someone by ringing via QA central switchboard and they took a message and said they would get someone to ring me back. No one did so I was rang a few days later to ask why I did not attend. I explained how frustrated I was that I could not get through on the number on the letter and she could not give me an explanation as to what the problem was. Since then I received another letter rescheduling the appointment for February 7th ( pre op ) and February 12th for procedure. On Thursday the 1st of February I rang to cancel the procedure and be taken off the waiting list as I need to treat my dry eye problem and receive my laser correction records which will probably take several months. The person I spoke to said that they would do that. Despite this I have had several messages left on my home phone confirming the two appointments. I tried ringing today and had the same problem getting someone to answer the phone. No doubt this will go down as my not attending for the appointments which is not the case. Someone in management of the Eye Department needs to investigate why this is happening as I now have no faith in the departments competency in carrying out the procedure I need as it seems my wanting to follow the advice of the Doctor I saw is at odds to the departments need to get it carried out quickly. I’m sure other patients must be having the same problem with communicating with this department and hope it can be rectified.

  6. Review titled Mixed

Rated 4 stars out of 5

On arrival my partner was severely short of breath on minimal exertion , he was booked in and directed to wait in the waiting room to be seen by the triage nurse . After 2.5 hours I was triaged and then immediately seen by a Doctor who began treating me immediately as my chest was very quiet I can’t fault the ED doctor however it is worrying that the initial contact nurse at the door did not recognise and prioritise a clearly time critical patient.

  7. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hilda Thomas - Posted on 16 January 2024

I visited the breast clinic today only 8 days after seeing my gp. The service was first class. From seeing a consultant, having a mammogram and a scan I was out of the hospital in 2 hours. The staff across the whole department were very friendly helpful and extremely professional. Thank you.

  8. Review titled Not very good

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I thought that the consultant that saw me was a bit rude and didn't seem to take it all in didn't even tell me my xray or blood test results I had done 3 weeks prior to this appointment

  9. Review titled Horrific wait times

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 January 2024

Nurses take a long time to do simple things and are often condescending and rude. In D ward, I was waiting for an hour for a new bag of fluid for an IV, and my nurse just didn't come back. No one told me what was happening or what was wrong, and there seemed to be no communication between departments. The only positive thing I can say is that the paediatric department managed to help me quickly and efficiently, unlike the adult ward.

  10. Review titled Excellent kind treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dizzy Den - Posted on 21 April 2024

I attended the emergency clinic first in late December early January, I was treated with not just excellent care but by kindness and understanding of my condition. A Viral infection seems to keep reappearing and I have had to return as an emergency, the Reception Staff are friendly and professional, I saw the Doctors within a reasonable time considering how many people there were there. After examining my eye I have now seen a Consultant and have been transferred from the Emergency Eye Department to the Clinic which deals with the condition I have. I cannot praise the Eye Emergency Department highly enough the whole Unit work under great pressure but remain professional, sympathetic to one's worries and at the same time friendly to all in their care.
